Very cute and sweet read! When friend want to see if it's worth it for more! While I didn't know it was this ya I still could enjoy the book for what it was! Beautiful!
Saving It by Monica Murphy is sweet, soulful read. Really loved and enjoyed reading the story. Couldn't put it down for a second.
I Cannot Recommend it enough to all readers.
Maybe I am finally passed the age to enjoy YA this book felt really juvenile to me. There was very little character exploration and only brief mention of family. I'll be honest after the first few chapters I started skimming as I felt the plot was meandering with a lot of unnecessary back and forth.
This is a sweet romance about two friends whose relationship is evolving into something else. Maybe it was the lack of angst that made this feel flat to me.
This will certainly appeal to its target demographic. I would recommend it to teenagers.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A disappointing, flat, boring read both in terms of the unfolding of the plot and the main characters.
Two childhood friends have to decide if their friendship is worth risking for something more...
Eden and Josh have been best friends for years, but suddenly realize there may be more lying under the surface. As an adult, I didn't love this book - it felt a bit too surface level and immature - that being said, this is exactly the kind of book my younger self would have loved - ha! I do think this is geared toward a younger audience - high school is perfect. Josh is crude at times especially with his friends, but it seems to be a realistic portrayal of teenage boy friendships. Eden has some issues with body image and insecurity, which again, is pretty on par for teenage girls. Overall, nothing earth shattering, but definitely a popular read for the YA crowd! Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC, Entangled: Crush for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Reading this book was a long time coming and it was a fun ride and really amplified why I love best friends to lovers trope. Josh and Eden have been friends since forever and they know all of each other's secrets. Well, except Josh wants to lose his virginity before he graduates and enlists Eden to help him choose a girl. But Eden isn't one to say no to a list and also rejecting her best friend. Josh realizes that maybe along this journey that the right girl has been there all along right beside him. Eden and Josh's friendship was relatable and everything they go through was just very relatable. I would have loved to see more romantic moments since it took them almost forever and a day to realize their feelings for each other.
~*~ I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book ~*~
This was a beautiful story of best friends realising what was in front their eyes this whole time. Their bond and relationship becomes something new, different and stronger. It took sometime for them to see the whole picture, when others around them could see the chemistry and the unity they have even from the beginning. Fingers cross this forever love lasts forever through life’s hurdles.
Saving It is all about the build up. The anticipation...
Some people save it, others give it away. There is no shame...unless you have a complicated situation like this. Friends, a pact, and a list. A deal that manages to ruffle more than a few feathers.
Saving it is sweet and sassy. It has some awesome friends, some horrible exes, and uncanny timing.
This is a cute YA book that's perfect as a palette cleanser after something heavy. I recommend it for any adult or older ya reader looking for a beach read this summer.
While I very much thank the publisher for the approval on this title, it was unfortunately not a good fit for me. I did, however, add it to Goodreads, so that others may see it and find it more in line with their tastes.

I was given an ARC of this book by Netgalley and Chapter by Chapter Blog Tours in exchange for an honest review.
This is such a cute + fluffy contemporary romance!
Uhh first I got to say that it's kind of ridiculous that Josh wants to lose his V-card because he doesn't want to be laughed at. Okay, I'm not a boy and maybe boys laugh at each other because of their virgin status so I'm not really that sure, but wow, he's looking for someone to have sex because of PEER PRESSURE?!
Anyway.
Eden and Josh are best friends - I love how they are always there for each other. They're so freaking adorable and aaahhh I love their friendship so much. I was shipping them so hard. They're so perfect for each other AND WHY ARE THEY TAKING SO LONG TO CONFESS THEIR FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER???
How I felt when they finally kissed:
YES YES YESSSS!!
But then Eden gets scared and stops talking to Josh and then they fight. I WAS SO ANGRY AT EDEN BECAUSE WOW MY SHIP WAS SAILING BUT THEN SHE SANK IT. Fortunately, she gets back together with Josh after he confesses his love (awe) and gives her a rose on stage at the winter formal.
Buuuut I've seen this mad-at-each-other-then-got-back-together scene in a lot of YA books, and I'm starting to get tired of it. Let me list some books with similar endings.
• Zenn Diagram
• Eliza and Her Monsters
• When Dimple Met Rishi
(and a couple of other books but I don't remember their titles. Sorry, I'm very forgetful :P)
Also Abraham and Molly are awesome friends. They'd do anything for Josh and Eden and it really warms my heart to see how they always support them.
Final thoughts
A short, fun read with some cute romance that I highly recommend!
This book delivered exactly what fans of Monica Murphy's Young Adult romances expect: a fantastic glimpse into contemporary teenagers, with a realism that is seriously impressive! As someone, ahem, a bit older than 16 ;) I found myself thinking "Ohhh, I totally get Snapchat now!" Haha
Besides that, the fears, attitudes, joys, and angst of being a teenager are so vivid that I remember what it was like to be a young adult, and I appreciate the visit to this world. Josh and Eden are also so very relatable, and so obviously well-matched, that you really enjoy their story. There is a lot of build up just getting to know them and their other best friends (and the amusing attempts Josh makes at finding a girl to lose his virginity with), then some melodramatic angst only a teenager could pull off, and then a wonderful happy ending.
i FRICKING LOVED THIS BOOK! Entangled has always been one of my favourite publishers and this was no different. An amazing, sweet and just all round awesome book!
LOVE BETWEEN ENEMIES is like the best kind of book candy read, sweet and too tempting to stop after the first page. Entangled Teen is great at finding these amazing authors like Molly E. Lee that can pen a romance that has a good mix of romance, revenge and misunderstandings that is told between alternating points of view.
I began reading this story and was entertained as main character and lifelong overachievers (and somewhat enemies) Gordon and Zoey come to a turning point when Zoey receives a scholarship that Gordon has been pining for. They have always been academically competing against each other, but Gordon believed that Zoey wasn't competing against him on this scholarship and so it took him by surprise and thus begins this to and fro dance between the duo and it seriously heats up over the last few days of school prior to graduation and the inevitable after party.
As I mentioned, I was entertained by this story and could see how the competitive nature between the two characters never let them become friends due to their rivalry. Yet, that all changes as graduation comes close and it skips from rivalries to romance. At times it seemed a bit over the top going from hate to insta-love but the story flowed quickly and it kept me engaged enough to keep going.
I recommend this story to older teens that like a quick light-hearted read and who enjoy a good enemy to lovers tale.
I am a huge Monica Murphy fan but I especially love it when she writes Young Adult. Saving It was everything I could possibly want in a YA romance. It was sweet, swoony, and perfect! Josh and Eden were absolutely adorable together.
This book just wasn't for me at all. I didn't like the writing style and I didn't like the romance plot.
Monica has written another sweet YA romance that has you wishing your high school life was theirs. LOL
The burb pretty much tells you what you to expect in this story. Josh and Eden have been best friends for what seems like forever. And no, there has never been any underlying feelings that either of them have for the other. Until Josh drops the bomb of wanting Eden's helping losing his V card, just not with her.
This whole situation has Eden and Josh looking at each other in a different light. They have always talked about their relationships with each other but have never really gotten into the sexy, hot details of those relationships. And now they are talking about it, they are beginning to view each other differently than just friends.
What I enjoyed most was watching these two battle themselves with what they were thinking and feeling. Being best friends for so long, it's hard to make that adjustment, especially if you aren't sure that the other is thinking the same thing. Neither want to lose their friendship and tipping the scales to more than friends has the potential to do that.
Monica wrote a cute story with characters that are relatable for YA readers. If you want a simple story with a bit of YA angst, this is your book.
I expected to enjoy Saving It more than I did. The premise was cute. I found Eden grating, especially with her unreasonable attitude toward her young brother and even Josh seemed less than impressed with Eden's behavior.
However, the worst thing for me was to read the constant repetition. Repetition to this extent takes me out of the story and makes me wonder if the author had to write a certain number of words rather than tell the story. Regardless of the reason why, it ultimately results in a dissatisfying read.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and Entangled for an honest review.
Saving It is a fun, flirty novel that totally has taken away my heart!
From best friend to a lover? Call me in! That's always what I love to read. To make it even wonderful for me, I love and enjoy Monica Murphy's writing. She has written a story that I know and I am sure to not put the book down.
Eden's friendship with Josh has begun a long time before and they always flirt towards each other and their friends think they actually have a thing but they deny and deny it yet again. Not until, when Josh decided to ask Eden's help to find her a girl for him and that's the beginning of everything. The realization, the love that has been in both heart for the longest time and afraid to make a move to change their status from a friend to a lover.
The characters:
Eden: Well, she's quite stubborn in some other way especially when it comes to what her heart wants and she keeps on denying it. Knowing the love she has for Josh, she still helps him though she knows, she shouldn't help a boy she loves to find other women for him to fling with. Anyhow, Eden's character is likable.
Josh: Though his best friend, Abraham try to make him jealous (of trying to be together with Eden) still he acts like nothing bother him at all. As if like, he is okay with it even though, it hurts him a bit which I feel like want to shake him hard, tell him to listen to his heart! Nonetheless, I still like Josh's character because after long moment waiting for him, he finally makes a move.
My verdict
Monica Murphy's indeed has done an amazing job in writing an adorable story that I'm sure many people loving it. The drama, the love, the friendship is a wonderful combination of in one book.
