This was a very interesting book. It’s a little different from most military books. It’s about a wounded vet on a secret mission at a private inpatient therapy center for wounded military men and women. Cole the main male character of the story is deaf and one arm is severely injured. Annie is an eco therapist. Most of her therapies use nature to help her patients. I love Cole and Annie. Opposites do attract. The book has a lot of mystery and suspense. Kept me guessing throughput the book.

Romantic suspense was one of favorite genre's for years. I finally got a bit burned out on it. Not for lack of great romantic suspense books out there to read just needing a change of pace for a bit. I still read the occasion one but not like i used to. Dana Marton gives us a great story with Silent Threat. One of my favorite things are military heros and heroines. Cole is a Navy Seal seriously injured in the line of duty. He's dealing with hearing loss and a right arm that is not fully functioning anymore. It doesn't stop him from being the bad ass he has always been. Even though he's suffering dealing with own injuries and coming to terms of what his life might be like now he still puts himself out there for others. Even when he really doesn't want to. Annie has a stalker. She knows who he is but really for me wasn't trying to hard to shake him off. Then stuff starts happening and she wonders if she hasn't got more than one. Cole and Annie clash from the beginning but no matter what happens keep getting drawn to each other. Annie is taking her own hits in her personal life but she's a giver at heart so nothing slows her down. I liked these characters. I became invested in them by the end of the book. Cole and Annie have/had so many obstacles in their lives and yet still try to be positive. Try to do what's right and try to be the best they can be and help others. The only thing i had issue with was the author using Cole's full name often. It seemed forced. It's used in the beginning to show his Hawaiian roots but it's not needed after that. I hope we get to see more of Cole and Annie in the follow up books in this series. I loved that the author added a epilogue at the end of the book. It was awesome to see what happens after THE END is written. I think Dana Marton might have brought me back to romantic suspense again!

I received an ARC from Netgalley. This was a very intriguing romance that left you on the edge of your seat. Although I was skeptical of the whole ecotherapy side of the story I love a good romance with the strong, silent, protector type.
Annie and Cole have a beautiful love story that develops and centers around a rehab facility. The suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat and loved the HEA ending.

**I received a copy of Silent Threat from Net Galley and Montlake Romance in exchange for a honest and voluntary review**

Silent Threat by Dana Marton is the first book in her Mission Recovery series. The book was a bit slow at first in how both Cole and Annie learned to trust each other as well as the type of work that Annie does at Harmony Hill. I could see a possibility of a Eco Therapist working and helping out Wounded Warriors but it did seem a bit out there. I'd give the book a 3.7 stars for suspense and romance.

Annie Murray works at Harmony Hill an alternative therapy rehab center as a Eco Therapist who loves nature and her little animal sanctuary in her garage with skunklets, donkey, and a few others. She's also agreed to help her cousin Kelly with her new home flipping business. She's dealing with not one but a second stalker who has very dark ideas of how women should act. But I think what bothered me was her grandfathers lack of love for her and her childhood trauma that her mother didn't know about. But she'll have accidents that will have Cole offering to be her bodyguard and the local police not really taking her serious. Will she be able to keep her attraction between Cole and escape from the dark stalker when he escalates?

Cole Makani Hunter is a former Navy SEAL who was sent to Harmony Hill to investigate someone leaking information to Yemen and learn how to deal with his PTSD after his team was killed by a IED. But when accidents happen to Annie he offers to be her protector even taking a shift bottle feeding the skunks. However, when his friend Trevor dies of suicide Cole seems to know its linked somehow with his investigation. Can he keep Annie safe and will she stay after he tells her of his job?

4.5 I really enjoyed this book. Could I relate to the ecotherapist - no but a lot of great info. I am in love with Cole. There were so many avenues in this story that tugged on me and took me for a ride.
Great plot!

This latest book of romantic suspense from author Dana Marton features former Navy SEAL Cole and Annie Murphy. Cole is on an undercover operation at a veterans rehab facility, while Annie is one of the ecotherapists that works at the facility. While Annie is very much aware of the ethical dilemma keeping her from getting involved with a patient, Cole finds little reason to avoid Annie when she falls victim to a stalker. But when the danger escalates, will Annie continue to push Cole away?
This novel had a great balance of suspense and romance even if at times you just wanted Annie to stop fighting her feelings and go after Cole. This is the first novel I have read that featured a deaf hero, Cole lost his hearing and the use of his right arm while fighting overseas. It was interesting how the deafness intersected with Annie's ecotherapy programs and ideas. Or even the difficulties of undercover work without the benefit of hearing. A great read and I look forward to what might come next in the series.

Three and a half stars.

This started really well, Cole Makani Hunter is a former SEAL, partially deaf and with his right arm non-functioning, he has been sent undercover to a new age rehab centre for vets to discover who (staff or patient) is transmitting military secrets to someone in the Yemen.

Annie Murray is an ecotherapist working part-time at the Hope Hill rehab centre in Broslin Pennsylvania. Her treatment consists of helping vets get back in touch with nature through barefoot walks in the woods and drawing analogies between the men with their issues and nature. Whilst at first Annie was a bit new-age hippy dippy for my taste, and Cole wasn't wrong when he called her a tree-hugger, she grew on me. Brought up by a single mother, ostracised and criticised by her maternal grandfather - who she nevertheless continues to care for - and with unresolved issues with her cousin Kelly, Annie tries to make life better for everyone around her and runs an animal sanctuary in her yard.

Annie and Cole have a LOT of back story, it made me wonder whether they had featured in previous books by Dana Marton in different series. Either way, it was good that both had histories and experiences which moulded their lives but didn't overrun them - in other words it wasn't all angst-angst-angst like a YA/NA novel.

Annie has a stalker. I liked the suspense of not knowing who the stalker was and guessing at each character, I also liked the way in which the two stories: Cole's traitor and Annie's stalker wove together. I liked the development of the romantic relationship and the way in which Annie's therapy methods helped Cole deal with his issues whilst not being a miracle cure-all. I even liked the extended epilogue. My only gripe was that the climax felt a bit rushed, I even reread it this morning to see whether I had been mistaken when I read it last night but I remain slightly disappointed that the ending felt rushed rather than the steady build up of tension that usually happens with a romantic suspense.

Overall, I like Dana Marton's novels, she writes interesting characters who aren't all traditionally beautiful and perfect, Cole's initial description of Annie is WAY less than flattering. Also, its funny which is unusual in romantic suspense. Cole and Annie have some really nice banter going on between them, I especially liked when Annie was able to laugh at herself.

This is my first book I believe by the author. This tale of a disabled veteran and his therapist makes for an interesting read.

Someone is selling secrets to the enemy and even though he returned injured and suffering from PTSD Cole Makani Hunter is a force to be reckoned with. Early on in his tenure he bonds with Annie Murray who is a therapist specializing in eco-therapy. Some is stalking Annie and Cole is just the man to look out for her.

As the threats against Annie escalate, Cole is stymied in his hunt for the traitor and in his attempts to protect Annie. I really do like how the author brings all the threads together for a surprise reveal at the traitor and an spine chilling climax. I learned about eco-therapy which I was not familiar with and want to do some more research on this topic to learn more about it.

I have read all of Dana Martin's Broslin Creek novels and enjoyed them all and was glad to see she came out with a new book. Silent Threat is actually the start of a new series but there are a few of characters from Broslin Creek that make an appearance in this book. Annie Murray is working at a rehab facility for returning vets when she meets Cole. Due to injuries he received overseas he has lost his hearing and partial use of his right hand. He is actually working undercover at the facility trying to find out who is leaking classified information to the enemy in Yemen. It was interesting to watch Annie and Cole's relationship develop. She also takes in injured animals and nurses them back to help. The story line with the skunks is so funny. I actually didn't figure out who was leaking the information till just about the time it was revealed. Dana Martin has written another good book and I would recommend it.

This read was exciting, with a perfect balance between romance and mystery.
The most fascinating thing about it was the hero, a disabled former Navy SEAL, still with much more skills and abilities than the ordinary Joe. I just fell in love with him and, above all, his character will linger with me after finishing “Silent Threat”.
Dana Marton’s characterization of Cole Makani Hunter – and the other characters as well – is really superb: I can picture this big man (a bear), with a shaved head and dark eyes with nearly black, slightly curled eyelashes, a non-functioning right arm and an intense gaze zeroing on one’s lips to read them. Awesome!
But Cole’s personality is perhaps even more compelling than his superbly well drawn physical features: he’s a protective Alpha male who is extremely respectful of the heroine’s intrinsic value as a woman and professional (despite his skepticism, in the beginning, about ecotherapy, which I can empathize with).
The former sniper has ghosts to fight but he’s not the usual deeply tortured hero, he’s too determined and sensible to allow regrets to win. He’s aware he “needs to learn his new body” and this attitude is so refreshing in a wounded warrior! These traits make him a rather realistic character.
I really loved the settings and how Nature was either friendly or hostile matching with what was happening in the plot.
The author’s writing style is top-notch, delivering enough information to keep us hooked to the pages and never bored. There were some humorous touches too (comparing Cole to a bear was both hilarious and endearing).
Now, I’m dying to read the next book in the series, "Threat of Danger" (Mission Recovery #2), featuring Cole’s friend, Derek, a writer who was also a POW with our first beloved wounded warrior. I just hope we’ll meet Cole and Annie again...

A wonderful, fast paced book written by Dana Marton. Both main characters were quirky and charming. Dana Marton does a fantastic job of researching her topics and using them in unusual ways, which always pulls me into a novel. She remains one of my favorite authors! I recommend this book to everyone who likes a good suspense.

Silent Threat is the first book of a new series titled Mission Recovery. In this story our main characters are Cole Makani Hunter and Annie Murray.
Cole, is a Navy SEAL forced to leave his team after a mission not only went wrong, but it was one in which he was capture and tortured by the enemy for months and was left with scars, loss of his right arm as well as his hearing. He has been given an undercover assignment by his CO to find a leak where secrets are being sold to people in Yemen. The veterans’ rehab place where he’s gone uses alternative options for rehabilitation and where he meets and immediately feels an attraction to Annie, an ecotherapist.
The story is filled with action, suspense, someone stalking Annie and people dying . Yes , there were times when the story slowed down a bit, maybe could have been 30 pages shorter, but the plot was an engaging one and the characters complex and flawed.
What I appreciated most was that the author highlighted the struggles that the brave men and women who put their lives in danger to protect our freedom, endure upon their return. A need to have places similar to the one described in the book are needed, and we as a society need to do more to help. So for that , kudos to the author.
Looking forward to what else Ms Marton has in store in her next book.
I was gifted this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Silent Threat By Dana Marton, book one in the Mission Recovery series. A book that has pulled me in from the first page and I'm looking forward to seeing what is next in this series. This book had me guessing the whole time and I hadn't gotten in right in the end. It had everything you could want in a romantic suspense book. I enjoyed the characters Former Navy SEAL Cole Makani Hunter and exotherapist Annie Murray who also rescues some crazy animals you wouldn't expect for the animal sanctuary she hopes to have one day out of her home. A book and author I would totally recommend.

This is story about a navy seal and how he meets Annie in the ver rehabilitation center. Can they have a chance together before it’s to late.

I like this romance very much, even if it’s time was little slow. It keeps you wondering ho is after her before they can have a relationship.

I received this book from netgalley for an honest review. I've been a fan of Ms. Marton for a while, and she didn't disappoint. Annie Murray is works as a therapist at Hope Hill, she specializes in a different therapy, where most of her sessions are in nature. Cole Hunter is a former SEAL who came back from his last mission without his hearing or the use of his right arm. OF course he's a bit frustrated. He's not exactly happy to be at Hope Hill, and isn't interested in "hugging trees" as he puts it. Annie is one of those people that collects strays and runs an animal rescue from her garage. They are drawn together from first meeting, and not as pt/therapist. They had a meeting before that. Annie has a stalker, while she thinks she knows who it is, that doesn't seem to be adding up, and Cole's protective instincts have kicked into high gear. As a reader you are constantly guessing who may be responsible as her stalker. I guessed about 70% through who I thought it may be and I was correct.

Cole Hunter, former Navy Seal, has returned from a mission where he lost a lot of friends. He also lost most of his hearing and the use of his right arm. He is sent to an alternative rehabilitation center for vets. Somehow classified military information is being sent to enemies from the rehabilitation center. Cole is undercover to find the culprit. Annie Murray is a therapist who is at odds with Cole to start with. Someone is stalking Annie and Coles protective instinct comes, out.

This was a fast enjoyable read with mystery and romance. There was a twist at the end of the story. Most of the characters were likable and relatable. This is the first book in a new series and I will continue reading the series. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy of this book.

This is the first book I've read by this author, and I really liked the characters of Cole and Annie. However, the story itself just seemed to move at a snail's pace, and I struggled to get through it. It finally picked up mid-way, but it was difficult to get there. If I didn't like Cole so much, I might have given up. This is the first book in a series, and I'll likely give the next one a try.

I really enjoyed this story. Annie may be a "tree hugger", but she has a spine of steel. Cole is very strong but doesn't throw his weight around. From the time he meets Annie, he wants to protect her. He isn't sure why, but he does. Annie is instantly attracted to Cole and knows that it isn't a good idea. First, he is her patient and second, she has such bad luck with men and knows she needs to just leave it alone. But, as she gets to know him more, she only becomes more attracted to him. He puts up with her skunks, one-eyed donkey, llamas and pig. There is someone stalking Annie and she just doesn't know who it could be. Cole will find out.

This is a fast paced novel that I enjoyed reading. It's the first book in a new series that is set in Broslin Creek, where a prior series is also set. In this novel, Cole, an injured Navy SEAL, is sent undercover to a facility that is sending secret information to an enemy. Because of this, he met Annie, an ecotherapist.

I'd never heard of ecotherapy before reading this novel and, while I loved Annie, I found the whole ecotherapy concept a bit off putting - at times it just made her feel odd and made me feel disconnected from her character. - thus the reason for four stars instead of five.

Cole is a great character that is swoon worthy as the slightly damaged hero that is always a protector, no matter what the cost. I'd be surprised if there is a romantic suspense fan that doesn't fall just a little bit (or more) in love with him.

Fans of the genre will want to read this book and I'm looking forward to the next novel in this series. The author is on my must read authors' list.

Silent Threat is a heart-thumping romantic suspense with a damaged hero and an optimistic heroine. It brings together ecotherapy, wounded war veterans and a sociopathic stalker with delusions of his own superiority.
I enjoyed Silent Threat but then, I knew I would since I've read other books by Ms Marton and have enjoyed them on the past. One of the things I've enjoyed about Ms Marton's writing is the humor she injects into the story. While this story had some funny moments, there wasn't the laugh out loud humour I've enjoyed in the past. The suspense though, was gripping and intense and it kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time. I kept wondering what Cole's undercover mission was and even got it wrong at the beginning. And Ms Marton kept the identity of the bad guy a tightly held secret right to the very end and the big reveal.
I liked Cole a lot. He is perhaps one of the most damaged heroes I've ever read. But in spite of his injuries, Cole is a personality and a force to be reckoned with. It's his Navy SEAL training and endurance. He's also honorable and protective, even as he struggles with his issues and disability. I liked that while Ms Marton mentioned Cole's disabilities, she didn't let it get in the way of him being competent and able. Cole was able to compensate for his disabilities to still be a fully functioning and contributing person. I also liked the way Cole connected with Annie and she shone a light into all the dark places in his soul. I liked that Cole felt that with Annie there was hope of a life for him beyond his injuries and issues.
As for Annie, I thought she was going to be a woo-woo ecotherapist with her head in the clouds but she was so much more than that. She was strong, competent and capable with a sensible, responsible side to her, even though she was an utter bleeding heart when it came to wounded animals and her animal sanctuary she ran out of her garage at home. While Annie argued with herself about patient/therapist ethics, I got impatient with her. I wanted her to throw her ethics out the window and give in to her feelings for Cole instead of running away from them.
So far, I've enjoyed everything of Ms Marton's I've read. I look forward to other her other books in the future.
