A good study of Psalms this book will help in your spiritual journey of getting closer to God through worship.
Encountering God is a book to help you meditate on God in the Psalms. This book takes you through 10 different Psalms and the author asks you questions and you have an opportunity to reflect on what the Lord might be saying to you. Psalms is a well-known book of the Bible and it’s great to dig a little deeper into a few of its tasty morsels. I found that I mostly agreed with the author and his takes. For example, he mentions the meaning of Selah throughout Psalms and gives many things it could mean but it’s widely known that it means to pause and reflect on what has just been said. With this in mind as I read the Psalms, I see that the author of the chapter has a heart change most times as he eventually continues on after a pause. When we stop and reflect on what God wants to say to us we have heart changes too.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Encountering God is a devotional that examines 10 different Psalms while challenging readers to engage with the Psalmist's view of God. While not particularly deep or profound, there is much here that is helpful. All of us can certainly benefit from some time pondering the prayers and songs of the book of Psalms. This book covers Psalms 1, 15, 19, 23, 51, 90, 100, 121, 139, and 150.

I have enjoyed looking through this book of excellent devotional readings based on the Psalms. I’ll be going back again and reading this book on a day-to-day basis as I give these further study. I highly recommend this book.
