This was a very good book. I love how easy the story was to follow and how the storyline seemed to suck me up into it.

A very short story and a quick and easy read. Nothing natural in this storyline. I would have liked it either to be more hot, deeper or have more to the storyline. It lacks a lot. But it is a very short and enjoyable read.

Eh... this was first foray into the whole big blue alien thing. I don’t think it’s for me... 2.5 out of 5 wine glasses.

What a bizarre read. I expected this to be a quick steamy read and I wasn’t far off. There is enough development to get a feel for the characters and story, but they are shallow at best. This is sexual escapism at it finest. Their need to have sex to understand each other should have tipped you off. If you are looking for a quick erotic read with an outlandish story, you would probably enjoy this but don’t expect to be blown away by characters, plot, or chemistry.

Not terrible and it does label itself properly as "the dirty bits." Well written sex scenes, but very light on plausibility and story. A bit more effort and this might have been a 4 star book at least since the concept was interesting.

Ruthie – ☆☆☆
I was intrigued both by the subject and the promise of the naughty bits only in this short romance. I was quite impressed by how much historical fact was intertwined with the story of the extraterrestrial arrival. The fact that Katharine could take her fill, due to Breccon being chained to the table, made for some very welcome turnabouts with regards to the usual power dynamics.

It is exactly what it claims to be, perfect for a couple of hours of sexy escapism. I shall look out for more in the series.

The Roswell Affair by Anne Bordeaux is a novella in The Dirty Bits line by Carina Press. These are described as micro-romances that are intended to be read in an hour. That being said, I figured this would be a quick and fun read—I mean, look at the cover, the guy is a blue alien. However, I found the characters quite generic and didn’t enjoy the story much at all.

It’s 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico. An alien has been captured and is being held prisoner by the U.S. military. Scientist and flight nurse Katharine Parker has been sent in to make first contact with the alien, who’s over seven feet tall with dark skin and blue tattoos all over his body.

Not long after meeting the attractive alien, Katharine takes it upon herself to kiss him and subsequently have sex with him. Say what? The two form a pair bond that allows them to communicate with each other—with language and through sex as well.

Katharine learns that the alien is Breccon Tallel, a warrior from the planet Rune-Yon, which is in danger. He needs a scientist to bring back to his planet to save his people.

The sex scenes drive the story, which has a generic feel to the plot as well as the characters. I didn’t learn much about either Katharine or Breccon—at least, not enough to care about what happened to them. Even the sex scenes have an unemotional quality to them that I didn’t particularly enjoy.

I’ve read many novellas in the past that I’ve liked, but this one fails to establish an emotional connection between its characters that would have given context and meaning to the plentiful sex scenes. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this book.

This was a quick, hot read, as advertised. As far as erotic romance goes, the dynamic between the hero and heroine was different compared to most in this genre. And I liked it. The heroine was empowered and took charge. She didn't say she was strong. She WAS strong. I really appreciated the woman-on-top theme of this erotic sci-fi romance short. The only downfall I noticed was the lack of world-building in some of the scenes. But that's it. The concept of this story, and the story itself, was HOT. I look forward to reading more from this author, and I can't wait to see what happens next in their relationship and worlds.

As you can see from the title, the Roswell crash is the setting for yet another story, this time with a hot nurse/scientist called in to interrogate a not-so-alien alien in the famous 1947 crash. Within minutes she’s in lust for him and they’re communicating through sex, which is why the military failed to establish a dialogue.
This works because the main characters are likeable, with an immediate chemistry that might actually be chemical, not just the way the word is used today. Some slight touches of the era were nice, though even for something that takes place 70 years ago it’s hard to imagine the government agents being such asses; ditto for the soldiers. Don’t think they needed to be painted with such black strokes in order for this story to work, though maybe because it was so short there wasn’t time to do anything else with them.
It turns out to be a complete Mary Sue, but since I liked it I’ll let it pass. But for such a short story it didn’t help that 10% of this is ads for other books at the end.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5

The Roswell Affair's blurb interested me!  This is short and spicy read!

Set back in 1947, Breccon is an alien that crashes to earth in what is commonly known as Area 51.  Katherine is a scientist tasked with making first contact with the alien. Her goal is to find out where he is from and what he may want from earth.

Katherine is taken aback by the sparking connection she has with Breccon. When she kisses him, he can understand her language. If they have a mating bond, they will be able to converse in the same language.  She wants answers to her questions, and the chemistry is hot.  How can she say no to that!

I liked the idea of the story and I liked going outside the real life box every once and awhile! This was at a time before all the electronics and surveillance equipment we have today, so I enjoyed Katherine and Breccon not having big brother watching everything!

A fun, quick, and quirky story that revs your motor!

The blurb sounded so very intriguing...and I suppose if the book were longer (it definitely was a short, quick but yes...hot...read) it might have been a little bit more fleshed out. Breccon is an alien from out there in the universe, captured by military in what we know as Area 51. Katherine is a military medical professional sent in to gather information on why he was here on earth. What happens next can be described as an explosive connection but for some reason it didn't grab me as I expected it to. The writing is well done but this one fell just a little flat for me. it is more a 3.5 star but not close enough to a 4 for me to give it that. I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review.

Awesome story. Good solid plot. Enjoyed it from start to finish.

This might be a quick read, but it has all the things I enjoy. A hunky alien on a mission? YES! A smart heroine who sees what has to be done and does it? YES! Sexy times in unconventional places? Oh, yeaaaaaah.

I do have to say that I'm a huge fan of blue aliens. Huge. Seriously. Once you go blue, baby, you never go back. That's certainly true for Katharine. She's gets a taste of the big, blue hunk and she's smitten. Sure, she fights it a bit, but it's inevitable.

JUST THE WAY I LIKE IT!

Quick, sexy, and full of blue. I'm IN!

This was definitely a quick read like we're told. But that's about all that I thought was right. Despite sounding like it could have good idea behind it with the reason the alien came to Earth and all sort of things about him, it wasn't that exciting, wasn't that hot, and quite honestly I didn't think it was all that good. First thing you have to do is throw out any common sense and realize that pretty much everything that is going to happen here makes little to no believable sense and probably would never actually happen like it does...even for fiction. I'm not a huge fan of the male being dominated by the woman so that didn't work for me either. And somehow Katharine went from being a nurse, to being a scientist by the end. Or was she supposed to be both? I don't know, and I don't really care.
