Brilliant read with all the things I enjoy in a book with a brilliant storyline and characters and I will look forward to reading more from you from this author thank you for my arc
I liked this a lot. The story was funny and poignant and hugely entertaining. Alyssa could be frustrating but once we learned her history it was understandably, and Gray was just lovely!
Highly recommended.
*Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher*
Enjoyable workplace romance. Grayson was a patient and focused man, and while Alyssa had her moments where I just wanted to strangle her, she grew and changed throughout the book.
I received a copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review. #GettingDownToBusiness #NetGalley
- There is a good story about actions taking place at the bar and at their work place, with their family and their friends also. There's a second full story just like in the first of the series.
- There are good sex scenes but a bit too much considering how Alyssa acted dumb, selfish like a teenager, and guilty all the way for something she had no control over - get over it or get help, it's getting old, you know? And that lasted up until the very last two pages. It was too late for me.
- I liked Chandra, Doug, and Grayson a lot. They were mature with a head on their shoulders.
- I thought the relationship between Chandra and Doug more developed and I admired what Chandra did for Doug and Lucy and eventually herself.
This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Getting Down to Business by Allison B. Hanson, is a sexy, slightly emotional read with characters that I really wanted spend more time with. Ms. Hanson's voice is passionate, easy to understand, and straight forward. She tackles being cruelly blindsided, heartache, and a new relationship, in an amusing yet serious manner. This novel has a lot going on and as result, I was engaged from start to finish.
4.5 Stars!
After an amazing one night stand, Alyssa and Grayson have no idea that they share so many commonalities. They both work for the same company, in the same building, but on different floors. When Alyssa needs a place to reside temporarily, it is Grayson who comes to her rescue. Because they are now roommates, Alyssa puts a "no sex rule" into action. However, the rule quickly dissipates as their feelings evolve for one another.
Alyssa and Grayson are amazing together, and they challenge each other without even knowing it. They never give up on the chance for happiness. This is a nicely-written book that should be added to your TBR list.
Fun, fresh, and sexy are the words that first come to mind when I think of this book. Alyssa and her standoffish ways are a sure sign of trust issues. Issues she knows she has and with good reason. Never again will she let her heart get involved just to be shattered again. Grayson is determined to find a way around Alyssa's walls. He knows they could be great together if she would just give them a chance! When Alyssa finds herself in need of a place to stay Grayson sees this as the perfect opportunity to show her everything she's missing. Who will win this emotional tug of war??
This is a great fun read that I think everyone will enjoy. I highly recommend it.
A relationship of convenience becomes a conflict of interest. What starts as some after hours fun between co-workers, becomes tricky real fast when hearts become involved. Will the queen of ice thaw enough for the master of seduction to make his move? Temporary is about to become permanent in a very complicated way. Ms. Hanson keeps it light while dealing with some tough characters. Getting Down to Business is a seductively amusing, mass of contradictions that makes an hard to resist ride.
I picked up this book because I had read the first one and really enjoyed it. It can be read as a stand alone, but a few of the characters from the first book are mentioned in this one. Our characters, Alyssa and Grayson, are in New York City. Alyssa does not do relationships, but she does do one night stands, which is how she meets Grayson. As she leaves the next morning, she figures she won’t have to see him ever again and there will be no awkward 2nd date. However, Alyssa’s roommate is pissed that she was kicked out of her apartment for a hookup and she decides to kick Alyssa out. She needs to find a place and quickly. To make things worse, she runs into Grayson while at her usual coffee stop and then comes to find out he works in her building for the same company! Things cannot get any worse as far as running into a one night stand. However, both Alyssa and Grayson keep thinking about each other and it’s clear that the chemistry is explosive between them. They seem to be a perfect match. However, Alyssa’s past has something dark in it and she won’t let herself end up in another relationship. Grayson has his work cut out for him.
There is a secondary couple in this book, Chanda and Doug. They seem to be a opposite match, but they are so cute together that you can’t help but root for them. Both Alyssa and Doug had their self-confidence shattered in previous relationships, so a lot of patience is needed from Grayson and Chanda. But that is what keeps the reader hooked. You won’t be able to put this book down once you start reading it. You’ll be rooting for most everyone to have a HEA :) So far, it’s been a cute series that takes place at work and will make your heart happy.
Alyssa doesn’t do relationships anymore, she knows they can lead to a disaster. This is why she only does one night stands. When her roommate tells her she has to move out and only gives her two weeks, Alyssa is in panic mode. New York is not the easiest place to find an apartment and she also can’t afford one by herself. When a coworker gives her a tip on an apartment to share, she decides to check it out. The last person Alyssa expected to answer the door is Grayson, her last one night sexual encounter, who wanted to date her, plus they work for the same company. Knowing she’s out of options, Alyssa decides to take Grayson on his offer, however, their sexual chemistry is off the charts. So new rules are made, this can only be about sex. Greyson takes her rules hoping down the road he can change her mind. As things heat up, Alyssa has to decide is her feelings can be strong enough for a relationship or will everything blow up in her face.
This was a very enjoyable book to read.
4 1/2 Star Review.....
A great story with lots of angst, self-destruction and divine patience too! This book will keep you engrossed till the end, with occasional moments of wanting to ring Alyssa’s neck or shake her silly for her lack of insight. But in her defence, a damaged soul is often not responsible for their lack of faith and the self-doubt a life filled with disappointment and heartache has cultivated.
Grayson is a saint; he must be, for his dogged perseverance in the wake of Alyssa’s determination to keep him at a distance. This is definitely a one-sitting book, so be prepared for lack of nourishment till you've read the last page!
Alyssa and Grayson have set up a most unusual set of rules for sharing an apartment...just friends. With mutual attraction and affection, will they be able to stick to the rules? In addition, there is a side story of Doug and Chanda and their blooming romance. An enjoyable read.
A continuation of the On the Job Romance series, Getting Down to Businesses focuses on Alyssa and Grayson.
Alyssa has trust issues and doesn't want to get into a committed relationship. She has friends that she loves, including Kenley from the last book, but she refuses to get attached to a man.
Grayson really enjoyed the short time he spent with Alyssa and would love to get to know her better. He gets his chance when she needs a place to live and he needs a roommate for his apartment.
The back and forth between them is amusing, frustrating, and at times heart breaking, and I found myself rooting for them to have a happy ending. As you learn more about Alyssa her reasons for not wanting to put trust in others become clear and my heart went out to her for the pain she had been holding inside.
Another enjoyable read by Allison B Hanson!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Boy, Alyssa is really damaged when it comes to her love life. She sabotages what her and Grayson could have before it even started. Problem is he's in every part of her life now. Friends, work and home. The patience that Grayson shows is almost super human. Loved it!
