The Chameleon by Michele Hauf is a good fit for readers who enjoy fast-paced, romantic thrillers about undercover agents using their charm and wit to complete high-stakes missions.

The Chameleon was such a fascinating read. The author did such a great job of creating interesting & likable characters & the story line was unique- breaking into buildings but not taking any loot.

I like how both Jack & Saskia were raised to be criminals. And I like how they were both working for the ECU with different agendas.

The Chameleon can be read as a stand alone but is the third book in the Elite Crimes Unit series.

Jack Angelo is sent out to do a job but every time he turns around multiple women keep slipping between his fingers after taking a little more from him than he ever intended to give

"The Chameleon” Saskia Petrovik has the ability to be everyone and no one all at the same time. What should have been just another job turns into so much more when she lays her eyes on Gentleman Jack!

Can Jack and Saskia stay on task and complete this job without any problems or will they both find out that their hearts have a very different plan? Read and find out!

Overall this book was ok. It was very interesting in the beginning and definitely had a different ending than I expected. I am used to reading Michele's paranormal romances while I definitely like those better this was still an ok book.

The Chameleon was a very enjoyable installment in the Elite Crimes Unit series with a gentleman hero and the heroine who leads him to rethink where his life is headed.

Jack Angelo is having an off day when he arrives in Finland for his assignment with the Elite Crimes Unit. First his wallet and passport are stolen by a pregnant woman, then he’s seduced by the desk clerk at his hotel who leaves his passport behind, and finally while casing a bank another woman inserts herself during his run. Imagine his surprise to discover all of these women are the same woman and his contact. Saskia Petrovik doesn’t see anything wrong with having a bit of fun as she watches the new recruit prep for his assignment, but soon Saskia and Jack are in deeper than either of them bargained for and they’ll have to decide what really matters.

Saskia AKA “The Chameleon” has the ability to change her looks and mannerisms to become another person. In addition to her ability to alter her appearance, Saskia is also a skilled safecracker. As a child, she learned to pick locks from her parents and then after being left in her grandmother’s care she developed an appreciation for the use of costumes. Saskia has come to appreciate working for the ECU as it allows her to continue doing what she loves and she has even considered remaining with the ECU after her time is up.

Jack considers family to be the most important thing in the world and is willing to put them before everything else in his life. His loyalty to his family has now put him directly at odds with the rules of the ECU and he’s forced to make a difficult decision. Known as Gentleman Jack due to his polite and apologetic disposition as he’s beating information out of people, Jack actually dislikes hurting people but doesn’t believe he has any other skills to fall back on.

Saskia and Jack’s relationship got off to an interesting start after Saskia fooled him several times, but while Jack is initially annoyed at Saskia, he does come to appreciate her abilities. The two are attracted to each other right away and things get incredibly steamy fairly quickly. The physical scenes were very enjoyable as they’re well done and the characters have amazing chemistry. I liked that Saskia and Jack didn’t rush into the ‘I love yous’ right away and instead chose to take the time to figure things out. That’s something you don’t see too often in romantic suspense but was a nice change.

In The Chameleon we meet a few new characters in the ECU as the support team in this book is different than in the previous ones. The author does a good job with the side characters and they’re well fleshed out even if they only appear in a few scenes. The assignment/case the characters are working is an intriguing one and kept my interest throughout the book. I mean who wouldn’t enjoy learning about a group of bank robbers who don’t actually steal anything from the banks they break into?

Overall, The Chameleon was a fun action-packed read and I definitely recommend this series if you’re looking for some fun, quick reads. I’m hoping this isn’t the last of this series as I’d love to see more books in the future, possibly including one about a hacker.

Jack Angelo is steeped in his family's dodgy dealings. He went to prison to save his father from doing time. But now he has been given the offer of working off his "debt to society" by working for the ECU. He has worked for them for a few years but now his family is threatened and he is about to jump ship to save him! But can he carry off the job for ECU, save his brother and get the girl?

Jack might be off his game - he was pickpocketed by a pregnant girl, had a quickie with hotel receptionist, who then leaves his passport behind. Jack is then visited by his new handler. He quickly realises he has been duped by a very sexy mistress of disguise!

Saskia is a real life mistress of disguise and she is a very capable conwoman. She is also Jack's new handler and link to the team carrying out the heist. She tries to keep the heat she feels with Jack under wraps but can she really keep her feelings out of the mix?

Great story. Saskia is totally kickass! Jack is kind of a bad boy James Bond with a dodgy past. Going to track down the rest of the books now!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Can you ever be yourself? For Saskia this is just another job so she thinks but she is about to learn that sometimes you just have to choose a side. Jack knows he just needs to do this job and then he can disappear for good and everything has to go well as he needs this money to get his brother out of trouble again. Jack will be the muscle on this job and all he needs to do is get them all away when the job is done. But Saskia has started noticing things about him and he can't have that but he just can't seem to figure her out. They have start focusing on the job or they are going to themselves caught but Saskia knows that something is very wrong with this new job why are they going to take nothing again and when her boss asks her to get some poison warning bells start ringing but she just doesn't know who the target is. Does she trust Jack enough to let him help but she knows that he will find out that she has been on his tail all this time and there will be no escape for him? Will they actually leave all the lies and games behind or will they have to walk away from what can be? A great fast paced read. Saskia is a powerful character that is very vulnerable at times and I think that Jack isn't always as tough as he wants everyone to see him. Really enjoyed it. Thanks to Netgalley & the publishing house for letting me read it in exchange for my honest review.

What an intriguing book! Jack Angelo was recruited from a jail cell to work for the Elite Crimes Unit (ECU), and he was on a job where he met Saskia. There are so many twists and things you don't expect in this book so you are constantly wondering what is going to happen next!

I don't want to give away any secrets so I will be careful what I say about Jack and Saskia while they are working on the crew of bank robbers. Jack has to worry about his brother who is being held for ransom while trying to find out what the thieves are planning.

While Jack and Saskia feel an attraction for each other, they both have other responsibilities that they don't feel like they can ignore. There is non-stop action and lots of intrigue, romance, and betrayal. The only thing that I did not like was there was no explanation of who pretended to be Jack and took his money. Loved the ending!

I have not read the other books in this series but I liked this one enough that I want to read the previous two books and hope there will be more after this one.

The Chameleon is the third book set in Michele Hauf's Elite Crime Unit (ECU) which is basically about criminals who are given a second chance by serving the unit. All the books are standalones and they each focus on a particular agent with a special skill set. In The Chameleon, the agent is Jack Angelo, who is on assignment for the ECU but is also contemplating trying to get out despite the consequences all because of family. He meets Saskia in three separate occasions not realizing she is the same person (hence the title). As he tries to complete his assignment at the same time trying to ditch the ECU, he starts falling for the ever elusive but sexy Saskia but he doesn't know whether she is friend or foe or more dangerously he is starting not to care. The Chameleon is fast paced, quite funny especially when Jack keeps getting fooled by Saskia but its also action filled and full of suspenseful mystery and definitely very sexy. It is definitely a page turner and will definitely make you addicted to the series.

The Chameleon is a sexy and totally entertaining romantic suspense where both the hero and heroine are not exactly the good guys though they work for the good guys. I haven’t read the earlier books in this series (but will definitely go back and get them now) and had no problem following the story. Gentleman Jack Angelo is a thief from a family of thieves. He traded jail time for stealing for the ECU. Saskia Petrovik is a mistress of disguise charged with keeping an eye on Jack to keep him from going AWOL. The chemistry between these two is tangible. It is fun watching them fight the conflicts of interest as they arise. I really enjoyed this different story.

This is the 3rd book in the series and in my opinion the best so far. There are a few inconsistencies and some of the action is a little out there but overall the story moved a good clip. I would have wanted a bit more character development ( Saskia in particular) . Enjoyable read.

I just couldn't get into this story. I thought the premise sounded good. For me, though, when I started the writing and the scenes just seemed clunky. I don't know if it's because this is the third book in a series in which I haven't read the other two books previously. I've done that before with series and have been fine. But it's also possible that this particular story just wasn't going to work out for me no matter what. Unfortunately this is one of the rare DNF'd books on my shelf.

I just could not connect with the characters and the characters felt flat. I did not read the other 2 books in this series but do not think that was the problem. It seems to drag a lot in the middle of the book

I can say I tried again but something about this series just doesn't work for me. The characters once again fell flat and I found it difficult as a reader to connect with the different characters. The story started off well spaced but soon started to slowly down almost dragging readers along until they either give up or keep reading until the end. As a reader the ending wasn't an ending the story just stopped without not giving readers any satisfaction.
I don't think I will read anymore in this series.

I love a romance that is set away from North America, so with this being set in London and Helsinki, it intrigued me. Jack was a fun hero, he hates to fly so takes the ferry to Finland in the winter instead of taking a quick flight. Sasha was very strong as his heroine. I laughed when they were meeting, except Jack had no idea she was the same person at first.

Sasha is known as "The Chameleon" since she is able to assume other identities very well. Watching the sparks bounce off each other was interesting. The book was full of action and kept me turning pages to the end.

The ECU is an elite unit within Interpol. They go after top criminals world wide. Jack Angelo was in prison when he was given a choice. Finish his prison sentence or go to work for ECU. He has been working for them for 3 years. Now he is ready to quit. He is on his way to an assignment in Helsinki when he runs into trouble. Trouble in the form of con woman Saskia. At times I wondered whose side Saskia was on. I felt there was more to her than we were seeing. The book had a good plot but I had trouble connecting to some of the characters. This book is part of a series and I haven’t read the previous books so maybe that was my problem. There were a few twists in the plot that surprised me. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy of this book.

The Chameleon written by Michele Hauf is the 3rd book in the Elite Crimes Unit. The Chameleon was like I was reading a plot from of the television series La Femme Nikita (1997) Season four meets the Mission Impossible II. I found too many similarities to the two shows mentioned above that I found this book just okay. The storyline just fell flat because the male character just wasn’t what I facet a man who lived the life of a criminal would be like. There was little to no heat between the two main characters. I was hopeful that the book will get better the further along into the story I got. But all hopes were lost as I turn the last page.
