Unusually for me I have read the previous book in the series, and I really like Charlie and the rest of her team, and I enjoyed reading this book.,police officers were being killed, and who by that was the question? Some of the murders were nasty and gruesome , it does tend to be par for the course and not for those of us with weak stomachs , I must admit I tend to speed read the more gruesome details.I did enjoy reading this though in spite of the nasty murders and I didn't have a clue who did the deed. The book kept me page turning as fast as I could read until the end and I will definitely be eagerly looking out for the next in the series. Not giving anything away but this is well worth a read for fans of this genre this is a good book. Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for an ARC.

This is the third book of Sarah’s I’ve read, and it’s a very different type of crime novel, in that it’s the police this time that are the targets. This can be read on it’s own, but it does help if you’ve read the others first, to get a bit of background into the characters.

Police officers are being murdered and Hunter and his team have no idea who is behind them.

Charlie, is, as usual as sharp as a tack and her quick mind soon has the situation in hand. I didn’t realise who the killer was until it was disclosed at the end. Very well written, and I’m pleased that Sarah is going to be writing more with the same characters.

Thank you very much to NetGalley and Bookouture for the advance copy of Mother by S.E. Lynes in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I've read by this author but it definitely won't be my last. It had me gripped from the very beginning and tells the story of Christopher who finds a letter in an old suitcase in the family attic and finds his whole life has been a lie but yet now it all makes perfect sense as he has always felt like there was something wrong with him and he has always wondered why he has never fitted in and thus begins his journey of self discovery. I absolutely loved this book and the surprises along the way had me totally hooked until the very end!!!

When I received this book from Netgalley I had no idea that it as part of a series but it read very well as a standalone novel.
I was impressed with the detail of the characters and really took to the main character DC Charlie Stafford. The plot for this murder mystery police drama was very well paced and as the author Sarah Flint is ex police, was obviously well researched. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it and I will certainly be looking out for the earlier books in this series.

This is book 3 in the series.
I think you can read these as standalones as these are different cased solved by the same DC. However there were some reference to previous books.

DC Charotte Stafford and her team [or DC Charlie as she is known]. Charlie is almost coming to the end of her nightshift, she gets a call from her boss DI Hunter, there is a murder and it needs her attention.

A man had been brutality attacked with acid and stabbed. It came as a shock that this body belonged to a serving officer.
Then another officer is fatally attacked, they soon see that they are dealing with a serial killer targeting Police Officers.

Although the plot was excellently thought out, research and writing superb, there is only so many like minded serial plots you can read which has similarity to them.
There isn't anything that stood out from the crowd for me. It was kinda 'here we go again'.

The pages turn snappy enough as I was also investigating who would want to kill off these officers and why, so it did keep me busy. I kind of guess part way through. I did enjoy it, its writing and happy to give 4 stars because of this, its well researched, but, there was nothing in here that made it stand out from other books with the same themes.

Good plot
Great characters
A satisfying read.

Negative
Just a bit slow in parts, wasn't on the edge of my seat with this and I guessed the ending.

My thanks to Aria via Net Galley for my copy

Many thanks to net galley and Sarah Flint and the publishers for the opportunity to review this book, prior to it's release 1 December 2017.

This is a well researched, plotted thriller with a great 'hook' and strong characters.

The reason for my overall 3 stars is mainly due to the fact that this is the third book in a series and because of this, if you haven't read the previous books (and I haven't) there were times when I felt I was missing a thread. References are made that refer to the previous stories and although it didn't completely spoil the book I'd certainly recommend you read the first 2 books before embarking on this one.

In summary, it's a well researched police thriller (it's obvious that the author has a strong knowledge and feeling of the British police system) slow at times and with mixed quality of writing, but, that overall gives a satisfying read and outcome.

I'd have scored 3.5 if I could!

Sarah Flint has done it again, this is the second novel I've read by this author and I'll be coming back for more. There's an authenticity to the story, not just the crime and policing details, but to the emotion and empathy for the victims and their families. Look out Peter James and Roy Grace - there's a new copper on the beat and Charlie Stafford is a force to be reckoned with, a brilliant crime read!

Oh wow you need to read this book. As soon as I read the dedication at the beginning, it had already drawn me in and it did not disappoint at all. After the attacks on the policemen I wondered how this book would be written. Whether it would be written with compassion or trivialising the disappearance. It did not let me down from start to finish it was gripping and very very emotional roller coaster ride of emotions.
what a book this book has it all tension, murder, suspense and some brilliant twists and turns it was a book that kept you feeling long after you have finished the book.

Someone is killing policeman and no one knows why in a truly horrific way and it's down to D.C Charlie Stafford and her team to solve the crimes. It was really realistic and the chapters were the next day and we could follow the police investigation day by day, so you literally did not miss anything and that's what made this book special.
It was like we were part of the investigation and you could feel the passion and the fact that they wanted to solve the crimes. It was very heartfelt and it stayed with me long after I had finished it.
There was many twists and turns many I did not see coming at all. I have not read Sarah Flints books before but I can't wait to read them.

This book was very emotional and breathtaking the ending is really nice and really heartfelt Sarah Flint takes a very raw subject and turns it into a very emotional read just one word that sums up this book AMAZING you have to read it.

I loved the previous 2 books in this series by Sarah featuring Charlie Stafford and D.I.Hunter and so was eager to read this. I wasn’t disappointed, I thoroughly enjoyed it as much as the previous 2. It’s lovely to read how the characters are becoming better acquainted. It was another great fast paced, well written read and I hope they will carry on with the series to get to know Charlie and Hunter even better. Bring on the next book!!

I would like to thank Aria and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Liar Liar’ by Sarah Flint in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
‘Liar Liar’ is the third in the DC ‘Charlie’ Stafford series who, along with her boss DI Hunter and colleagues, is trying to discover the identity of ‘Ice’ who murders police officers leaving a red rose by their bodies, but uses someone else to kill them. Who in the police department is leaking information to the killer and why are these particular police officers being targeted?
I thoroughly enjoyed this crime thriller which was action-packed and gripping. I liked the character of Charlie who’s feisty and doesn’t always obey orders, and those of her team who all worked together to discover the truth. The storyline was complex with a few red herrings thrown in along the way to keep me guessing, and the ending was touching bringing a lump to my throat. I can’t wait for Sarah Flint to produce the fourth in the series.

3 and 1 / 2 stars

DI Geoffrey Hunter is called to the scene of a horrific murder. Lying by the man’s side is his dog, also injured. He calls his partner Charlie Stafford to the scene. They later discover that the man was a police officer named Brian Ashton. His wife goes into early labor when the officers show up at her door to do the death notice.

DI Hunter may be approaching retirement, but he’s got no flies on him. Charlie is several years his junior and very keen on her job. She loves it. She is often late for work, however, and her boss, DI Hunter is getting a little tired of it. She has chutzpah and works very hard and Hunter appreciates those facts.

Leonard Cookson is the second police officer who is found dead. He was burned alive at a building site. PC Jason Lloyd is next. All of the victims have had a red rose left next to their bodies.

The police are on the case interviewing relatives and acquaintances of the deceased. They are also looking at a list of possible complaints against the murdered officers. They are floundering, unable to come up with anything other than a weak suspect.

When DU Hunter goes missing, the plot ratchets up. The race is on. The identity of the murderer comes as a surprise.

This is a well written and plotted novel. I like the characters and the way in which the team gets along – with one exception. The suspense begins immediately and continues throughout the story. This is my first Sarah Flint novel and I immediately went to Amazon to have a look at her other books.

I want to thank NetGalley and Aria for forwarding to me a copy of this book to read and enjoy.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Aria for an advance copy of Liar Liar, the third novel to feature DC Charlie Stafford of the Met.

Charlie has hours to go on her mandatory night shift when her boss, DI Hunter, calls her out to a murder scene where a man has been attacked with acid and stabbed to death. When he is identified as a serving officer the pressure is on and when another officer is murdered the team suspect they have a serial killer on their hands.

I thoroughly enjoyed Liar Liar as it has a good plot, flows well so is easy to read and has engaging characters. It is a third person narrative, mostly from the very likeable Charlie's point of view with the occasional interjection from the killer's point of view.

The plot is very good. There is only so much an author can do with the serial killer genre as much of it has been done before but Ms Flint puts her own stamp on it with some good twists and serious tension towards the end. It held my interest throughout and I was loathe to put it down. It may be that the solution comes a little easily at the end but that doesn't detract from a pulse pounding hunt and is easy to overlook in the excitement.

Charlie is a very likeable protagonist, smart, hardworking, dedicated and compassionate when required. The contrast with lazy new boy Nick is stark and seems to be the only reason he is included in the novel. Otherwise the team is as close knit as ever with only Hunter struggling under the weight of an investigation into his actions on a past case.

Liar Liar is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

Liar Liar by Sarah Flint is Book 3 in the DC Charlotte Stafford series.

OMG this book was totally fantastic, I LOVED it.

I have read 125 books so far this year and I have to say that this is one of my favourites it was seriously good and is in my top 3 for 2017
.
Liar Liar was absolutely gripping and shocking. It was very descriptive, dark and disturbing and I couldn’t put it down. I did read it in super quick time because I enjoyed it so much but I was reading late into the night way later than I would normally go to bed. The late night reading hangover the next morning was totally worth it!

Sarah Flint was on fire with this one I really can’t say anything negative about it. The story was full of twists, it was energetic and full of really good detail that kept me turning page after page hanging on to every word.

There is a lot of stress in the department in this book, there is new boy Nick who doesn’t want to pull his weight, Hunter isn’t himself and won’t listen to Charlie’s thoughts on the case and Charlie has to deal with Ben and his most recent breakdown. There is a lot going on but somehow they manage to make it work and as a team get the job done.

I really didn’t pick the killer in this one; it was very cleverly written and kept the identity of the killer under wraps right until the end
.
I highly recommend this book, it is a superb read. This book is worthy of 6 stars!

Here is the publishers blurb on the book:

From the bestselling author of MUMMY'S FAVOURITE and THE TROPHY TAKER.
DC 'Charlie' Stafford returns with a superb new, brutally gripping serial killer thriller, where the hunter becomes the hunted. Perfect for the fans of Angela Marsons.
A faithful dog lies wounded beside the mutilated body of its owner.

A woman is discovered bound and gagged, dead in her own bed.

Both are police officers.

Both have a red rose at their side... worryingly more will follow...
Lies and accusations abound but who is behind the murders and why are the victims being targeted?
Charlie, Hunter and the team must find the killer targeting their own before another body is found.

A thoroughly enjoyable, authentic British crime novel that follows on well from previous instalments. Fast paced, with strong characters and just the right balance of humour and gore.
A rare 5* read

3.5 STARS

DC Charlie Stafford and her team are used to hunting serial killers. This time the police are the hunted.

Police Officers are not only being targeted, they are being brutally murdered. The first two bodies found have a thornless red rose beside them. But the killing doesn't stop there.

What connects these particular officers? Why are they being murdered? Who wants them dead in the most horrifying ways?

This is a crime thriller that follows a close investigation into the why and who. There are some areas that seem a little slower paced, but they aren't long stretches and the pace does pick up in a short time. I like the characters, well most of them. Charlie lives for her work and she's a feisty thing. Her supervisor is gruff, maybe close to retirement, maybe it's just his nature. Nick is new to the team,, and this is his last chance to show he's got the stuff it takes to be a detective.

The premise is a good one ... lots of twists and turns. Just when you think it's all over ..the author throws something else out there.

Many thanks to the author / Aria /Netgalley for the advanced digital copy. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Thank you netgalley and Aria Publishers for this arc in exchange for an honest review.

Charlie Stafford is back on the case of a serial killer targeting police officers in the most horrible way. This is all going on while she is under review with the complaints commission and her boss, Hunter, is struggling emotionally and personally with her. To top it off, Ben, her ‘boyfriend/friend’ is not coping with his ptsd and alcoholism. Can Charlie save everyone around her?

As a huge fan of Sarah’s previous two books, reading this was an absolute pleasure. I love the characters and the evolution of their relationships and friendships is getting deeper. Please keep writing about Charlie as I want her to get her own happy ever after! Thank you for the arc which was top on my to be read pile!
