Anything by this author is great & worth reading. Make sure you have plenty of time to read you will not want to put her books down. Most of them I have read in one sitting, if I didn't it was because I fell asleep trying to finish. They are that good!

This is the 4th book in the Kenni Lowry Mystery Series by Tonya Kappes, I recommend picking up the whole series. I love them all, but I think this one is my favorite so far in this series. We see more of Kenni's momma in this book and this character will have you laughing so hard out loud you will get strange looks from the people around you who are not fortunate enough to be reading this book.

Kenni's momma is waiting for a Culinary Food Channel celebrity Frank Von Lee to visit their town to taste/review her winning chicken pot pie recipe. Everyone has gone crazy with the news, but none more crazy than Kenni's momma. When Frank Von Lee ends up dead momma is the main suspect. Kenni is removed from the case but that does not stop her from trying to figure out what happened. Join Kenni and the rest of the crew on another great adventure, you will not be sorry you did.

Kenni's Mama is thrilled when she finds out her famous chicken pot pie has caught the attention on chef-turned food critic Frank von Lee. He is coming to town to sample it and, if all goes well, Mama's creation will be famous nation wide thanks to the cooking show Southern Home Cookin'. Sounds great...until it isn't. The poor man is found dead with Mama's chicken pot pie at his side and in an instant she is prime suspect #1. That means that the powers that be yank Kenni from having anything to do with the investigation. Of course that won't stop Kenni, she'll just investigate on the down low along with her ghostly grandfather.
Besides catching a killer there are other cases to work, such as pop up Botox parties and suspect handicap placards. Kenni has a lot to juggle. She also has help from her bestie, Jolene so Mama won't be behind bars, the killer will.
If you want your mysteries well crafted, laugh out loud funny and a totally satisfying read then pick up any mystery written by Tonya Kappes and settle in for a wonderful reading escape. You won't be disappointed.

I do enjoyed reading this book. I am a huge fan of this author. I began reading her series with Mae, her foster brother, her foster mother Mary Elizabeth and Hank and the town of Normal and the campground that I wanted to explore another of Tonya's series.

What a fascinating book. I was impressed by the storyline and the characters were all well written and complex. Where there are complex storylines combined with intriguing characters the reader experience is magnified tremendously. To have a book that is well written as well as entertaining is a delight. Reading is about escaping your world and entering another one. The word building was phenomenal in this book. Here I forgot about my own life and was immersed in the world created by the author. I would recommend this book.

Six Feet Under is the 4th book in the Kenni Lowry Mystery series by Tonya Kappes.

This was a fun read. It is the first book I’ve read in the series and look forward to going back to read the earlier books.

You definitely feel like you’re in a small Southern town when reading this. Kenni was busy investigating a murder as well as a few other crimes. I suspected early on who the murderer was, but not why it was done. The other two crimes were wrapped up cleverly.

I can’t wait to see how Kenni explains Poppa, her ghost partner, to her police partner Finn.

I received this book as a gift and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me up late a couple of nights. I had to force myself to stop reading and go to sleep. I love the characters, especially Kenni's grandfather, who happens to be a ghost. He only comes back when something is about to happen. He does what he can to help his granddaughter, the Sheriff solve her cases. A fun series.

This is the first book in this series by this author that I have read even though it is not the first in the series. I have read other books in her other series, so I am familiar with her style. I am a big fan of the Ghostly Southern Mysteries. In this series, there is a ghost, but unlike the other series, the mystery does not resolve the spirits. The ghost in this series is more in an advisory capacity.

If like myself, you have not read the other books in the series, you need not feel it is a must as the author does a very good job of giving background information needed to be right on track with the story. She does not reveal much, however, about the other books, so if you wish to go and read those, you do not have to feel like the plots have been spoiled.

Like the other series I have read, the location is in the South, and like the author herself, it is filled with southern charm. The characters all reflect the location, and the culture of the town they depict. This includes the main character Sheriff Kenni Lowry and her mother. Though I enjoyed Kenni, and her boyfriend, I was not a big fan of the mother's depiction. It is possible the mother's character in the other books is more lovable, but in this one, I found her to be annoying. If intended to be that way, then the author was a master of her words.

The mystery itself was what you expect in a cozy mystery, and flowed with the narrative giving clues as it went along. But, as in all cozy mysteries, the stories within the mystery help make the book enjoyable. The mystery begins with a cooking competition in which the sheriff's mother is a forerunners to win the competition, and ending in the death of the judge by the aforementioned mother's pie. This leads the sheriff to be dismissed from the investigation, but her choosing to continue looking for another suspect to clear her mother.

Along the way you have a mystery of pink parking tickets, and other zany topics. It is a decent romp for a Southern style cozy mystery, and those who love this style will be pleasantly rewarded.

SIX FEET UNDER, A Kenni Lowry Mystery by Tonya Kappes delivers the goods. This series provides consistently good storylines with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor. I love these quirky characters too, especially Pop. Recommended.

Totally love Tonya Kappes & this series. The characters are well formed and easy to like. A strong female main character is refreshing. Another must read & I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Interesting story with interesting characters. The plot will keep you reading until the end. Can cooking cause murder? Who will make the cook off? Solving murder is a challenge.

What a delightful read. This is the first I’ve read in this series. I’ll be reading the previous books ASAP! This is truly one of the best written books I’ve read in a long time. Great plot, great writing, great locale, great characters...this one has it all!

There is so much going in this book, that I couldn't put it down and finished it in one day. Kenni Lowry is sheriff of Cottonwood and her mama, is the typical Southern Mama. In the last book, she won a cooking contest for her Chicken Pot Pie. Celebrity chef Frank Von Lee from the television show Southern Home Cookin’ has come to town to taste it as well as another contestant in a nearby town. He will then decide which of the two, he will feature on his show. Kenni's mama is so sure that she is going to win, she gets some work done. She attends an unlicenced botox party and ends up with more problems that she needed. Add in bogus handicapped parking permits and the surprising murder of Von Lee and Kenni has her hands full. Kenni’s mom becomes the prime suspect, as Chef Von Lee dies with poison found in his stomach within the remnants of a chicken pot pie and a scathing review partly written. It is going to take everything Kenni and her ghostly grandfather, Poppa, can do to clear her of the crime.

This is another fun addition to the Kenni Lowry series. I love how Finn and Kenny work together as well as how their personal relationship is developing. When the town wants to kick her off the case, she agrees so she can investigate on her own. Finn has some reservations, but he still wants to work with her. This book is filled with southern charm, humour, delightful characters, a bit of romance. I love the southern colloquialisms in the speech and expectations of the characters. Once again, Kenni gets a lot of clues by listening to local gossip and the help of her long dead Poppa. This is a well paced and plotted story. This is truly a fun read filled with a terrific cast of characters and that is what keeps me coming back for more. If you love Southern Mysteries, especially cozies should read, not only this book, but the whole series.

This was the first book in this series that I have read. It was an enjoyable way to pass a few hours reading, but I’m not sure that the whole “sherriff grandfather’s ghost as assistant” thing worked for me. I enjoyed it enough that I will probably read at least one more book in the series before I make up my mind.

Six Feet Under by Tonya Kappes is the 4th book in the Kenni Lowry series. The town is abuzz when celebrity chef, Frank Von Lee, comes to town to film on episode for the Culinary Channel. Kenni’s mom is excited because it’s her very own chicken pot pie that brings him to town, but things quickly go downhill when he is found dead by food poisoning. Things go from bad to worse when it is discovered that is it is her mother’s own chicken pot pie that is the likely murder weapon.

Never has a case been so close to Kenni, and she will have to walk the line between her personal and professional life. Thankfully, her Poppa has come back from the other side to help her.
I won’t say a lot about the plot because I don’t want to unmask the killer. What I will say is how much I love the author’s writing style and the way she develops her characters.

Her descriptive writing took me to the small Southern town, and I felt like I was one of the characters in town living right with them. I love when a writer does that for me! Her characters are so quirky. Those are my favorite kind. Kenni is one of a kind. She is brave, and this book proves the lengths she will go to in protecting those she loves. Her boyfriend, Finn, is perfect for her. I like the pacing of their relationship. I’m curious what will happen when she reveals that her dead father is the one who helps her solve her mysteries. Speaking of Poppa, those are my favorite scenes. This man is a hoot!!! It is amazing how Kappes took a dead character and brought him back to life. His personality leaps off the pages. He has to be my FAVORITE, right up there with Duke, Kenni’s faithful dog!!!!

Tonya Kappes reminds me of why I love cozy mysteries. The plot was written in a way to keep me interested. Every time I thought I knew who the killer was, she would surprise me. When you combine these aspects with great characters, it is a WINNER! Waiting for the next book in the series!!!!

Hands down my favorite book in the series so far!

Book 4 in the Kenni Lowry series, this can easily be read as a standalone. Kenni Lowry is Sheriff of Cottonwood, Kentucky and a well known chef from a TV show has been murdered in their small town. Kenni's mama, for various reasons, is suspect #1 and Kenni is trying her hardest to clear her name. Working with her deputy/boyfriend, Finn, they uncover who the real murderer.

A great cozy mystery that's an easy read, I recommend picking it up!

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Tonya Kappes book, although I have seen her name around for a long time, but the fourth installment in her Kenni Lowry series. I was initially a bit confused (I'm always assuming the book I read are the first in series - I should know better by now), but managed to figure everyone out quickly enough.

In this installment, a famous chef who's come to judge the local cook-off is found murdered, Kenni's Mama's chicken pot pie beside him, along with a not very complimentary review. Of course, this puts Mama in first place on the suspect list and eventually, Kenni has to remove herself from the investigation to prevent any conflict of interest. Fortunately, her boyfriend/deputy, Finn, is able to take over and she has some other-worldly help from her Poppa, who was the sheriff before her.

This was fun, although I found Mama to be a bit OTT (but I don't know anything about southern mamas, so perhaps she's just par for the course) and was frustrated that she refused for so long to provide an alibi. Outside of that, I queried the legitimacy of a sheriff/deputy romance, but the story was good, the mystery well done and it's a series I'd like to read from the beginning, to be able to get the character build-up from the get-go.
