This is a bright, colorful engaging book for children. It provides a closer look at the creation of a rainbow and includes enough science to make it feel like you are learning something without making a young child lose interest! Would be great for home or for a classroom!
The publisher made a copy of this book available via Netgalley. This is my honest review.
Thanks for the opportunity to read and review How to Make a Rainbow by Laura Purdie Salas, a Crayola Color Story dedicated to readers and young scientists everywhere. Photography highlighting the different colors in nature beautifully makes this colorful book charming. The photographs also inspire young minds to explore the world around them and discover the colors of the rainbow on their own. Art project, glossary and resource list included at the back of the book. 5 colorful stars!
I love crayola books. They really understand their audience. Their books are delightful and inspiring.
Netgalley ARC.
A bright, vibrant, colorful and informative Crayola Color Story describing the creation of a rainbow. This would be a great addition to a STEAM or STEM story time.
This book combines art and some science to teach children about rainbows. There is a brief explanation about what makes a rainbow, followed by pages of the colours in the rainbow and pictures of items in those colors. My grandson had fun trying to identify all the items. There is then a short section about the order of the colours followed by an activity to create your own rainbow. There are resources listed at the back of the book as well as a glossary. This book could be used in a primary classroom for an art lesson on hues and shades as well as a lesson on rainbows and prisms in science. When we made out rainbow, it did not turn our looking like the one in the book, but it was still a fun activity.
