Got to like a vegan cookbook that starts with bacon! And stuffed crust pizza?! Lots of great, unique stuff in here.
I love hot for food's YouTube channel and trying out recipes. This book is perfect since all the recipes that I have tried were so dsmn delicious. Looking forward to trying more of thee recipes
I’m not sure about this book - I have several Vegan cookbooks that I use regularly, but this has been on my shelf for months and I still haven’t been inspired to use it. Lovely pics, but it just doesn’t grab me.
This might be my new favorite cookbook! I've been a huge fan of Lauren's youtube channel for a long time, so I knew this cookbook wouldn't disappoint. I really appreciate that she creates "real" food that's more typical of food most people great up with. These recipes will be palatable for vegans and non-vegans alike. I can't wait to try so many of them!
I really enjoyed the cookbook. I am not a vegan but I really enjoyed it because most are very healthy recipes. Some are easier then others. However, I would recommend it to anyone.
I loved this book! The recipes were easy to follow and had great flavor. Also a lot of the recipes were easy to make and didnt require a bunch of ingredients. Added bonus was the amazing food photography!!
If you are familiar with the YT channel you will know what to expect. This book is filled with delicious recipes. I enjoyed reading the comments too. The instructions are clear and easy to understand. The recipes are accompanied with beautiful photographs. Enjoy
I received this book in exchange for an honest review which has not altered my opinion of this book.
Alright, this YouTuber is one of my favorite when it comes to her vegan food videos. I absolutely love her! This cookbook is a wonderful example of what she has created in the vegan food world. This book has recipes that go all over, and she starts of by telling you that it’s not meant to be a healthy food cookbook, which the majority of vegan cookbooks are. This one is comfort food, so it’s delicious food that isn’t concentrating on calories but on health.
The recipes in this book are delicious and I’ve even got my omnivorous boyfriend to proclaim that the pea pesto linguini is a classic that he will eat whenever I make it. I’m excited about that. I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone interested in the vegan lifestyle and doubts that it can be tasty, it’s delicious!! 4.5 out of 5 from me, I do wish there were more pictures.
I've been following Lauren on social media and her blog for awhile so I am familiar with her personality and her recipes. They never seem to fail and she always has such a grasp of flavour and chooses the best ingredients. This cookbook is the best! It is so easy to read and funny as well!
Most importantly, there is a picture for EACH recipe! Something everyone can appreciate. The pictures are also gorgeous.
This is one of the best vegan cookbooks I have ever read. I already know that I'll be making most of these recipes.
Hurry up and preorder! I can't wait for mine to arrive!
While most all of these recipes sounded delish, many of them turned me off bit due to the sheer number of ingredients and the steps/time they appeared to involve. Many recipe directions were more than one page and I just don't have time for that most days. What I did enjoy - actually super enjoyed - were the vast number of sauces and dressings. They were all super easy, with few ingredients and are very versatile in their uses.
I liked a lot of the recipes in this book. Sometimes I find it overwhelming how many ingredients are in vegan recipes which is my only hesitancy but I understand sometimes that's just how to get a recipe to taste it's best.
If we awarded review stars for enthusiasm, Lauren Toyota would get a solid 10. Any vegan cookbook writer who opens with a selection of ways to make vegan bacon isn't bashful about her work.
Lauren's vegan cooking site <hotforfoodblog Amazon won't let me complete the address> is chockablock with interesting and creative ways to enjoy the foods we love without relying on any animal products at all, even honey. Her writing style is brash and exuberant. The how-to videos on the site and YouTube are good, and the well-tested recipes have been verified by her readers and are solid.
Beware, though, that these are vegan recipes, not gluten-free, or salt-free, or macrobiotic or wrapped up in any other dietary regimen. Vegan, ma'am, just vegan.
I received a review copy of "Hot for Food Vegan Comfort Classics: 101 Recipes to Feed Your Face" by Lauren Toyota (Ten Speed) through NetGalley.com.
Please note this review will likely be completely biased because I love Lauren Toyota and have followed her youtube channel 'hot for food' for years and have been eagerly awaiting this book release.
I loved this vegan cookbook, it had delicious recipes with common and easily found ingredients. The pictures were gorgeous. My favourite section though was the how to make sauces from scratch vegan. In my local supermarkets I can't yet get vegan sour cream, ranch dressings, mayo etc etc. so to be able to easily make my own at home is awesome. I've tried three of the quick easy sauces so far the gravy, sour cream and aioli. Honestly, can't wait to make more.
Only negative I can really think of for this book is that the main meals do require some time commitment looking on average about 30-45 minutes to make a dish, but this is the same with her great free recipes on her youtube channel so you just have to be inspired and motivated to try them.
Overall, this is a fantastic book for those that are vegan, looking into veggie lifestyle, lactose intolerant or just looking to try tasty new recipes.
