This is a good book to teach children about what firefighters do, but I do feel that it is better suited for younger children. The storyline is too simple for a four year old to stay intrigued.
I didn't mind this children's book, however, it appeared below my son's interest level. It would be more appropriate for younger children, either before or beginning school.
Great book for children interested in firefighters and what they do.
I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I do love it when a title tells you everything you need to know.
This book is mainly made up of drawings that show the equipment and how it’s used. Most kids probably don’t realize firefighters do more than just put out fires.
Ends with a little maze game.
Really simple, as in preschool, in fact it says it’s for toddlers, so believe them.
3.5 pushed up to 4/5
A fun, colorful, and informative book which will help teach younger children about firemen and what they do. It shows the uniform they wear. Using arrows the books points out part of the uniform. The book also explains that firemen do more than just put out fires. At the end of the book, there is a very cute and simple game for kids to play. This would be great for teachers to use for very young students when teaching about fire prevention. If the schools have firemen come into the school, this would be fun to read before the firemen arrive.
I have read a few books in this series and they have all been really enjoyable. This one is just as good and I loved the images. The book is easy to read and follow and I can see it being a favourite. Four stars from me for this one.
This cute title with simple illustrations will appeal to the little firefighter in your life. Both of our boys (ages 1 and 3) love firetrucks, and this book captures their attention. It has short, instructive text that depicts firefighter turnout gear and equipment. I'm glad it also depicted firefighters doing jobs other than firefighting. Despite others pointing out that no female firefighters are illustrated, I'd like to point out that for the most part, characters seem androgynous.
The illustrations are cute, and something toddlers would definitely love. The story is fun and a great introduction to firefighters for little ones.
Firefighters and What They Do is a valuable book which explains the role of a firefighter not only in putting out fires, but also in helping others in need. The story and colorful illustrations are informative and appropriate for a young toddler.
Fun and informative book about firemen and the job they do. Good illistrations. Fun to read with kids. Would recommend.
Colorful fare for toddlers with childlike illustrations and a clear handwritten-style font for text. Racing to put out a house fire, clearing a tree from the street so a driver can pass-this is what firefighters do. What they wear, tools, how they slide down poles at the station in a hurry, and more. A simple maze puzzle appears at the back of the book.
Fires are really dangerous! Firefighters put out fires and wear special gear that keeps them safe from the flames. They use walkie-talkies and use sirens to let other everyone know they are on the way. Liesbet Slegers' look at firefighters shows firefighters sliding down the stationhouse pole, using hoses to put out a fire, and even moving a fallen tree out of the way so a grateful driver can continue on the road. An activity at the end of the book lets you show your little ones how to trace a simple maze to connect each part of a fire hose with a different jobs the firefighters have done through the course of the book.
A simple and easy look at what a firefighter does. Its just like the rest in the series, although they could mention that girls can also be firefighters.
Toddlers will enjoy learning about helpful heroes. Very engaging.
A simple introduction to firefighters and what they do. Equipment is shown and labeled. They also show them doing other important tasks besides fighting fires. My one complaint is that there are no female firefighters represented. Bright simple illustrations accompany the text. A nice read aloud for young students learning about community helpers.
