He saved her life…she saved his soul.
"My Hero
My Heart"
Saved by Angel Payne was a heart pounding, nail biting, suspenseful love story about two broken hearts. My heart ached for Garret, the love of his life was stolen from him. His soul is broken beyond repair. He is breathing but not living. A shell of what he once was, finds no meaning anymore.
Until he goes on a rescue mission, and finds non other than his fiancé.
Now being back home, safe, life should be able to go back to normal.... but they both carry demons that haunt their every whim. The horrors his fiancé had to endure to survive, and Garrett hiding his true self, these two must face these obstacles together in order for their relationship to survive.
This story was honestly refreshing to read. It shows the difficult journey Garrett and Sage had to face. The relationship felt so real and powerful, it gripped my heart like a vice. The suspense, heart-ache, and oh the angst....... 5 STARS!
It was a little slow at the beginning but then I got into it. I liked the military suspense and the romance.
Garrett Hawkins is the most valuable asset to his Special Forces unit, the guy doesn’t care if he lives or dies anymore. Since the love of his life, Sage Weston, was taken and killed with her medical unit a year ago, Garrett has turned the shell of men. Sage and her teammate, believed dead, are very much alive. Only now that Sage is back in his arms, Garrett doesn’t know what to do.The book is amazing. When I started reading I couldn't put it down I read the book is one day.Angel Payene is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up that passionet work.
Exciting, sexy military BDSM romance
Angel Payne out does herself in this the first of the Honor Bound series. Garrett and Sage are reunited when he rescue Sage after thinking she'd been killed a year earlier. Their love is still strong but they have an emotional and physical journey to complete and Evil has to be thwarted before they get their HEA. This book kept my attention from the first to last chapter. Well written characters and plot had me finishing it in one sitting. I found the secondary characters equally well developed and look forward to reading their stories in the next books.
I received an Advance reader copy from NetGalley.
She was his everything. The world stopped turning for Garrett the day he heard Sage was killed. Haunted by the memory of her he struggled to live. Survive. Life had no meaning without the other half of his heart. On a rescue mission, he saves the one person that means more to him than life. Finally able to breathe again Sage and Garrett begin to rekindle their romance. This story is absolutely breathtaking and will pull everyone of your heartstrings as the two lovers reunite and finally begin to heal after their long year apart.
This story had lots of drama, deceit, action and trust issues. When the past comes back and life has changed, the lies and deceit come out. It takes a blast from the past to break thru the hangups of the current self doubt. I'm glad it worked out and trust was a new beginning between Sage and Garrett.
This is the second book that I have tried by this author and I just didn't like her writing style.
When you love someone, you should trust them with your wants, needs and cravings. You should never try to be someone you are not or hide from them, because you never know if your wants and needs are their wants and needs. Garrett had to learn that the hard way.
When his fiance Sage was kidnapped and killed, Garrett didn't care for anything. He would do anything and in my opinion wouldn't have minded if he died. He wanted to be with his heart. He wanted to leave the hell he was living. He would never let go of her and each day he was dying more and more inside. He had become a different person in the year+ she was killed. However Garrett's world was turn upside down again for a second time when he was sent on a mission to Thailand with his best friend Zeke. He went in to rescue people and ended up rescuing the one person he was told was dead a year ago.
Sage was strong and had survived some horrible things but when the voice of her hero rang in her ears, she knew that the pain and suffering was over. Garrett and his team had rescued them, they had finally found them. Her life was finally back, well that's she thought at first. But when she returned to the states Garrett was different. Not the person she knew a year ago, which was okay to her because she had changed. Her needs and wants had changed and she needed him to listen to her and understand, because Garrett though that what he wanted and dreamed of were completely crazy!
This book had me captivated from the first moment. There was always something going on. Sage and Garrett could not catch a break, not even for a day! They love each other so much, a love so strong it held on tight for a year of being apart and thinking the other was dead or will never see each other again. Angel this book was amazing and cant wait to read book 2! Definitely a 5 star from me. What I love most about this book was that we had both Garrett's and Sage's point of views and what they were thinking.
4.5 Star Review of Saved (Honor Bound Book 1) by Angel Payne
This is the first book in the series and one I really enjoyed. I have read other books from Angel Payne so I jumped at the opportunity to read this book as I have always enjoyed her writing style and the depth of characters that she writes about.
Garrett Hawkins is still struggling to fight his way back from the horror of the kidnapping and subsequent death of the woman he loves, Sage Weston. Not caring whether he lives or dies, he goes through the motions as a leader of a special forces team, doing his job but not really living.
Imagine his absolute shock and joy to find that on his latest mission, one of the women he has been sent in to rescue is in fact Sage and her co worker Rayna, who have been presumed dead for over a year.
Both Garrett and Sage struggle to re build their lives, both having changed in so many ways due to the horrors and trauma experienced. Can these two tortured souls find their way back to each other and allow the love they shared to strengthen and subsequently re-connect? Or has the past twelve months destroyed any chance that Garrett and Sage have?
I loved both Garrett and Sage and so admired not only Sage but Rayna for surviving such a harrowing and traumatic experience. Garrett is an alpha and dominant male, as are all the members of his team and it was interesting to see how both he and Sage struggle to reach a compromise as they learn to be with each other again as a couple.
The secondary characters of Zeke and Rayna, along with the other members of Garrett’s team were just as interesting and I cannot wait to read their stories.
There was intrigue, suspense, dominant and tender moments throughout this book and at times I truly felt I was on an emotional roller-coaster of a read. I
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book through NetGalley from the publisher.
once again Angel nails it i just love her books thank you Angel for writing such amazing story's
Saved is the first book in the Honour series and is also the first book I’ve read by Angel Payne.
This book had a lot of suspense and some very steamy scenes to keep the heat levels going.
It starts off as a rescue mission to save Sage from Thailand. Sage was captured while doing missionary work in Botswana along with her friend Rayna. They’ve survived on their own for over a year but when Garrett, her fiancée, finds her will she still be the same?
This book was at times a bit of a slow burn but the ending definitely sells this book!
I look forward to reading the next book!
Fantastic! I'm all about a good military romance (having spent 9 years in the Air Force). My heart broke for Garrett and how he coped with the news of Sage's death....until he makes the discovery that Sage isn't dead. I gotta admit I wanted to shake some sense into him once he's got Sage again. I get his coping mechanism and how he likes his sexual activities to be something rougher, but dude, you got a second chance and you wanna act like an ass when it comes to Sage? And not telling her everything she needs to know, especially since it does involve her situation? Not cool man. But this story still kept me riveted until I got to the end.
I received an ARC from Netgalley. I enjoyed this book and the action and romance it exuded. Garrett and Sage had major chemistry there was no doubt about that. The only part that bothered me was how selfish Garrett came across. I mean the women was thought to be dead and all he thinks about is his needs or shame of his needs instead of focusing on her and if she was ok. But I do have to say the heat far outweighed this discrepancy.
Garrett has lost the love of his life and he is struggling in every area of his life. That is until his latest mission brings back more than just memories. Can he accept the changes in him enough to grab at a second chance?
Saved by Angel Payne is first in her Honor Bound series. However this is a re-release of Saved by His Submissive. I enjoyed Garrett. He was struggling first with the loss of Sage and second with his need to dominate sexually. Ms. Payne does a wonderful job of showing Garrett in the depths of despair as he uses work to work through his grief. I love that even though Sage “rises” from the dead, her relationship with Garrett doesn’t pick-up as if nothing happened. Both her and Garrett have changed and while their sexual needs are in sync, outside of the bedroom needs work. I like that Sage pokes the bear so to speak and forces Garrett to really look at not only himself for also their relationship. This story is well written and an enjoyable read. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to Ms. Payne bringing us more.
He saved her life…she saved his soul.
Read this book as part of Net Galley ARC for an honest review
I can't say enough about this book. Garrett Hawkins part of a special forces unit lost his world Sage Weston only to stumble across her during a mission in Thailand. Can they reconnect and make their love endure the many changes that has happened during the last year?
I have to say that I now love the special forces. I am not crazy about books about military men but this one I think has gotten me convienced I need to read more. Hot and steamy is the way to describe Garret he is my new leading man.. thanks to #Netgalley for letting me read this wonderful book as an ARC.
What an awesome read.
I took this book on a whim but I am so glad I did. The story is that Garrett lost his fiancé to insurgents a year ago and ever since has mourned her loss and recently had very explicit sexual dreams about her. When the call comes to raid the premises of a war lord the thought is that he will be unable to handle what he will find there.
I wanted to read this book slowly but reached 20% in two nights and the remainder in one sitting. The story line just becomes so exciting and involving.
Can't wait to read more from this author.
Saved - Honour Bound by Angel Payne
This story interested me from the beginning, with its story connections to Special Ops, humanitarian workers and human trafficking but I wasn’t prepared for the emotional connections that Angel Payne was able to establish in just the first few chapters.
Garrett and Sage both have their demons but when they are ripped apart by a human trafficking ring leader, both are set to test their limits.
Garrett throws himself into his operations with his team, thinking the love of his life is dead and buried after a year, while Sage and the other captives must survive the inhuman conditions of their captors.
Exploring some darker subtexts like BDSM and the brutality of the traffickers, these subjects were handled with great discretion and care by Angel Payne.
Some seriously rough and tumultuous situations scattered through the story but underlying it all is a deep seeded passion and love between Garrett and Sage. The supporting characters add some nice balance and a little humour in some very dark situations and I particularly liked Zeke’s smart mouthed banter with Garrett and Rayna’s deep friendship with Sage.
Overall and enjoyable read that I’ll certainly follow with the next in series.
Thank you to Angel Payne, NetGalley and Waterhouse Press for the opportunity to review.
