This book is a good fit for readers looking for a contemporary romance that explores healing, resilience, and finding love in the face of adversity.
This story was sweet and tragic at times. It was well written. The characters were great together. They had great chemistry.
I got to about 20% of the way through this book and really didn't feel any connection to the characters. I wasn't really getting much death to them though I could see that there was back story.
I decided that I wasn't connecting with the characters enough to continue with the story. Maybe this says more about the mood I was in that weekend than about the book itself.
Shane Marlow and Denver – yes please – especially Denver. I haven’t read the previous book in this series so this was my introduction to this pair – but what novel doesn’t like a hero with a working dog?
I know that a lot of soldiers have come back from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars in the US with PTSD and that many of them have really struggled with it as they have not had the right treatment, for whatever reason. And this leads to problems in their working and personal life. A dog can be an emotional support as well as useful partner in work and they have been recognised as such worldwide – though quite how a turkey could be I am not sure - Now I could also get pot bellied pigs, monkeys and miniature horses, but bearded dragons, kangaroos, peacocks – lots of birds including ducks too - rodents, spiders, reptiles, ferrets - and the list continues have all been claimed as emotional support – especially to get them on a plane! See https://bestlifeonline.com/emotional-support-animals/ for 30 of the weirdest claims.
But despite the wide variety of animals being used for emotional support these days – myself I prefer the cat variety! And have 2 Maine Coons now to provide me with some love.. and stroking soothes both of us.
There is also, of course, the story of Becca and how she breaks the law – for a good reason – but this where we have problems.
I saw a discussion on how TV makes law breaking ‘for the right reason’ become a justifiable crime and people shouldn’t be punished for it. This is also a prevalent them in many novels. It makes for a good story of course – especially if the criminal either gets punished and comes out to help other prisoners onto the ‘right’ road; or the criminal finds the right path for themselves and gets forgiven or – well you know what I mean. Sometimes they continue to break the law and as readers we cheer for them – as they are ‘doing good’ and the law is wrong. But who are we to judge? And when are ‘we’ the right ‘we’ to judge? And then we start getting onto a very sticky wicket indeed and we can talk about the societal contract and how society can judge right from wrong. But what if the majority agree with a law that you personally don’t?
I’m not going further into this, but I am beginning to wonder if society’s fiction, whether on a screen or in a book/written form, is, in some way, mind washing us to a moral code that makes it difficult for us to judge right from wrong.
All the above notwithstanding. I enjoyed reading this story and liked it enough to give it 3 stars. I’m detracting 1 star for my above discussion on law.
Shane and Becca are two wounded souls who are trying to build a relationship with each other while Becca is being stalked by an unknown person.
Falling Into Right is a solid 4-star read imho. Ms Kay, an author who is new to me, creates two interesting lead characters whose first meeting is less than smooth and is somewhat comedic. Their journey to falling in love is accomplished with a mystery, minimal angst, a little stalking, and the right amount of emotion. Before the book opens Becca, the heroine, breaks the law by doing something that is completely out of character. This act creates the underlying story for the book and is one that Becca owns and doesn't try to deflect. I'll confess that it took me a while to wrap my head around the act not being a mistake, but I applaud the author for breaking the mold. Shane, a Redemption County police officer with his canine partner Denver, is a former Army soldier. He returned from Iraq a few years ago with some injuries, a lot of bad memories and a bit of survivor's guilt. Both Becca and Shane have something from their past that colors their lives now, but they deal with it. Once they meet, they deal together. Also in the mix are Becca's best friend, her ex-fiance, her attorney brother; and Shane's sister, brother-in-law, and LEO friends. They add to the story but never distract from it.
The book is well-edited and the story flows nicely in its small town setting. There are the requisite rival football games, bar adventures, and everyone-knows-everyone elements that are associated with towns. And there are some hot bedroom scenes that take place at the right time...in other words, not ridiculously early in the book.
I am grateful to Victory Editing NetGalley Co-op for gifting me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I look forward to purchasing the first book in this series to read about Rosie (Shane's sister) and Cruz because I enjoyed this one so much.
I found a new author to stalk! This was my first story by Sharon Kay and I already snagged a few of her books before I even finished up the ARC of Falling into Right. This is a well paced romance between two perfectly imperfect characters. Shane and Becca are both struggling with events in their lives that have shaken them in a deeply personal way. I loved this book and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it.
Hard to put down. Great characters and storyline. The main characters were well developed and the storyline pulls you in from the first to last page.
I received a free copy of Falling into
Right in exchange for an honest review. This book started out great. Lots of chemistry with a very unique storyline. However, the ending was was the same predictable cliche. The ex boyfriend is crazy and makes one last psycho attempt to get his lady back. He ends up getting arrested and the main characters live happily ever after. Well written, but the plot fell short.
Cute story about self redemption. Shane can not forget he comrades that died in the "Sand Tramp" seven years ago. He still questions why they died and he didn't.
Becca stole $500 dollars from her job months ago. Even though she returned the money the next day, and paid her fine, she still can not answer why she did it. She lost her job, her mother, miscarried two pregnancies, and her fiancee all within months of each other, through it all she has attempted to be strong. Her ex can not forgive her transgression, but still wants to control her.
Becca has attempted to move on with her life by working at the local retirement home preparing meals, and caring for the residents. She has no job duties as an accountant, but that doesn't stop a stalker from wanting to cause problems for her at her new job. Luckily her new boss likes and respects the job she does.
Shane works for the county as an officer of the law with his trusty dog Denver. The two humans meet per chance after Becca falls in the court yard entrance after stepping in a puddle of water. Shane and Denver were going through their usual rounds of the court house grounds. Denver was the one who reached Becca first, scaring her. Shane assisted Becca in gathering up all her papers, and the contents of her purse.
Becca didn't realize she left her drivers license at the court house....lodged between the baseboard and the floor.....Denver finds it and alerts Shane to it. Shane decide to return it that afternoon.
I don't want to give the story away. The two were ment to each other...Each giving the other the emotional support they need to work through their demons.
2-2/2 stars: This novel was just OK for me ...a little on the tame side. I skimmed over most of the book until the end. The book was predictable ...the only one who had substance was Denver, the dog!
Thank you to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review of this novel
We have our main characters Becca, Shane and of course the amazing Denver. Becca has a secret that she’s been holding on to and lost her fiancée over. She broke the law and lost everything because of it. Shane is now a cop, is ex-Army, and has his dog, Denver. He went through a lot when he was over seas and lost a lot. He struggles daily with what he went through. Him and Becca meet when Becca fell on her butt in front of him. From there we have a pretty wonderful love story. Some very VERY sexy sex scenes. Some suspense with Becca having a stalker. Also, some pretty great side characters with amazing friendships.
I definitely recommend anyone read this if you are looking for a break from whatever you are reading. If you are in a reading slump, you have to read this. Yes the beginning in my opinion was predictable and the very end was predictable. However, everything in the middle is what made this book for me. 4.5 stars.
Thank you to Netgalley for sending me this book for review. I loved it!!!!
I really like this one, this had the right amount of fluff, steamy sex and drama. it also gave me a good time to get to know the characters and i really liked the two main characters alot.
This was a beautifully written tale of mistakes, loss, and a redeeming love. I couldn’t put it down.
Many thanks to Sharon Kay and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
FALLING INTO RIGHT by Sharon Kay is a small town romance, with a few very Hot scenes. The story is about Shane, a K9 police officer and war veteran. Becca is a woman dealing with major losses. A broken engagement, loss of income, death and miscarriage. Shane is still struggling with the loss of his team's members. Their attraction is instant and they find comfort in each other. A wonderful story and a five 🌟 read.

Becca made a mistake and has paid for it. She meets Shane, the local hero, and her rescues her from a puddle. Sparks fly each time they meet. They start dating and love follows, but Becca has a stalker to catch. Ms. Kay does a great job with the pain of depression, and ways to overcome it. There are lots of other peeps to get HEAs.
Both Becca and Shane have suffered terrible losses and are now trying to move forward with their lives. Through a stroke of fate, these two meet and connect. I found this to be a slow burn romance, but once these two likeable characters get together, the pages sizzled. There is a villain lurking who, for me, was not a surprise but I was curious as to the villain’s motive. And honorable mention to Denver, Shane’s work partner and friend.
Falling into Right
by Sharon Kay
An interesting read about one persons experience with stress and the consequences that follow.
Why did she do it? Well Becca Gabel insist that she really doesn’t know why! But, it caused her break up with her fiancé, the loss of both her career and her “weekend” job. But the most daunting is her humiliation she deals with.
Shane Marlow, a Police Officer for Redemption County with his partner Denver a German Shepherd. In his hometown Sundown, Shane is a local legend being a war hero. Their term not his, due to the guilt of being the one to survive. All he wants to do is protect his town
After their paths crossed at the court house, they meet up a couple more times. Which leads to Shane asking Becca out for a date. As the relationships continues and become more involved, things begin to happen to her and her ex is stalking her. That when Shane steps in to protect her. Will he be there in time? Can he figure out who is causing problems for her?
I enjoyed reading this book, it bought out about stress, and how one person handled it badly and the repercussions that entailed. And ultimately forgiveness!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Falling Into Right deals with some serious issues and does it in a good easy. Shane and Becca were both dreaming with loss, tragedy, depression and most likely PTSD. The way they each handled it was different, but they accepted each other with flaws and all.
I enjoyed this book and appreciate the note about depression at the end. I have a 14 year old with severe PTSD and understand it's effects.
Becca has had an awful year. She lost her job and fiancé. Now she’s working as a cook at a nursing home. She is trying to get her life back on track. Then she meets a handsome cop and his dog. Shane knows what loss is, he lost half his team to a bomb while in the Army. He’s now a cop with his K-9 partner. They meet after she falls right in front of him. After they start dating, someone keeps sending letters not threatening but scary. Can they both leave the past and move forward?
First time reading this author and it was a really good story. Mystery and sex. The only thing that bothered me was Becca’s attitude about the things that happened to her. I loved Shane and Denver, the dog.
