Oh my heart! I loved, no LOVED this book and the characters! Becca, Shane and Denver had my heart by the end of this book. Talk about making mistakes and feeling like you can never move past them! Becca made one mistake! One! And she cannot move past it. Maybe because her douchebag of an ex-fiance won't let her. But never fear, Shane and Denver looked past all of that and became her family that she lost.
Shane and Becca have both had a less than easy time in the past, and it was lovely to read about them getting stronger both alone and helping the other to do so. This wasn't just a damsel in distress story, Becca was strong for Shane when he needed it too. Nor did the book try to gloss over the fact that healing takes time. I liked both Becca and Shane and was good to see them get their happy ending.
Falling Into Right is an amazing story that makes you think love is out there for everyone, even if your life is a disaster.
From the hometown hero Shawn Marlow, who still struggles with life after the war, to Becca Gable who is trying to rebuild her life after a rought year that lead to making a very bad decision.
As these two come together and learn that its okay to have a past that still haunts you, they come to trust each other with talking about said past and being able to have an understanding shoulder to lean on.
Sharon takes you on a path of eatching love bloom and hoping that it all works out for two amazing people who couldn't deserve the chance a true love more.
Becca made a mistake. One error in judgement that has cost her her job, her fiancé, and her whole life. Even though she paid (literally) for her crime, she’s still paying every day. So when she fell flat on her derriere in front of the hottest cop she’s ever encountered, it’s time to disappear. And then he shows up at her door.
Shane is a retired k-9 unit soldier who joined the local sheriff’s department as a k-9 handler. Part of his duties is patrolling the courthouse corridors with his k-9 partner, Denver, a German Sheppard. To everyone in his home town, he’s a hero, but all he wants is to be a normal man and try to forget his failures in Iraq. So when a damsel literally falls at his feet, why not make sure Cinderella gets back her driver’s license?
Becca, to me, is pretty much a classic damsel in distress. Shane, in my opinion, is what makes this romance truly good. Becca lost her mother, had an unsupportive fiancé and this props her to commit a petty crime, in order to ‘feel’ something. It’s loosely sounds like a form of depression…but it still doesn’t condone her actions. Shane, after losing several of his friends in Iraq, also displays a few symptoms of depression, but is far better at handling it due to his experience with it. He vows to help Becca get through hers, with “no expiration date.” He also seems to suffer a little from PTSD.
A few things I truly enjoyed in this book were Shane (obviously) and Denver, who plays the part of a true supporting character. He’s not a convenient plot device. Denver is totally part of Shane’s life and incorporated into his routine.
All in all this was a pretty good book with some decent but not overly mind blowing intimate scenes and an obvious bad guy. The author has a small add on to the end of the book in regards to mental health that is really great.
What I liked about this book was the chemistry between Becca and Shane was real. The pain in their pasts was real but there wasn't such an overabundance of angst to bog the story down. The story is well written with great flow.
This is the first book I read by this author, and it will not be the last.
The story centers around Becca Gable and Shane Marlow.
Becca is at one of the lowest points in her life , when depression and despair makes her do something totally out of character. Now with a charge against her, losing her job and her fiance, she is trying to pick up the pieces of her life , while dealing with her mistake.
Shane survived his service in Iraq, but not without guilt and nightmares. He is now a K-9 officer at the local courthouse.
When they meet by chance, little did they know that both their lives would change forever.
The plot is engaging, with some whodunit, an unknown stalker , as well as romance. Will they find their HEA as they find the person that “gets them” ?
While the plot is interesting with complex characters, it’s also thought provoking. Mental health, depression and survival guilt are real and need to be addressed . Kudos to the author for that reminder.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I loved this book. From how Becca and Shane meet, until the very end. I do not usually like insta love books, but this one is so well done I could actually see it happening. Becca and Shane make a great couple and it was heartwarming to see how they helped each other through their tragedies. I highly recommended this book.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sweet and heartwarming story, nothing complex, just a nice tale and a happy end. But great characters and great chemistry. A lovely feel good read.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a free copy for an honest opinion
Well to many reading Becca's story and the "wrong" she done would seem crazy, nuts, "how could you"? But then you take a second and reflect on your own life and your past wrongs or what have you and you are like- YEAP- grief changes you. Puts you in a low place and makes you capable of things you never believed could have happened. Grief is deep and dark and can be dangerous, ask Becca. But she's realized that and she is making amends a step at a time. Too bad there are those in her life that want to throw it back at her, dredge it up at every step.
But let's bring in the Shane Marlow, war hero, to the rescue. Nope, first off, Becca is setting herself straight, not relying on anyone else to do it for her. Second, Shane sees himself as anything but a war hero and exactly in the same position as Becca- knowing the depth of loss and grief. They identify with one another and soon become pivotal in each other's lives. Falling in love? Falling in right?
But who is insistent on throwing Becca's past in her life and at what lengths will they go to in order to taunt or harass her? Shane and Becca rely even more so on each other during this time and I loved their relationship and bond.
I truly loved the suspense and mystery aspect of this romance. Great read.
Thanks NetGalley and Sharon Kay.
This was a really great read. I really loved Shane in this book. Wish there were more guys like him in real life. Lol And I loved the relationship between him and Becca. They had great chemistry. Loved the hot and steamy parts of this book too. I even loved Denver the dog. Definitely would recommend this book.
I loved this book from beginning to end. Shane and Becca are amazing together. Shake with his sad past from being in the military and Becca with her one mistake that cost her more than it should. A book of redemption and love. Amazingly written!
We have two people who are trying to forget their past. We meet Becca who had a past mistake and it was a big one I have to admit and she is having a hard time letting it go, that was the part that kind of got tiresome for me the repetition, yes you did yes you made a huge mistake but now it is time to move on and learn from them. Anyhoo she ends up meeting Shane who is also having a hard time letting go of some things from the past, he broke my heart but it was nice reading of these two being just what the other needed, if only someone wasn't trying to make sure Becca does not forget..
This is the second book in this wonderful series and it was just as good as the first.
Shane Marlow is a reluctant hero he may have survived the IED but many of his team didn't and he can't forget that now he has met a woman who interest him Becca Gable's life has imploded after one silly mistake she owned up to her misdeeds and ended up with a criminal record but lost her job and her fiancee in the process. Now someone is coming after her and all that stands in the way his Shane and his K9 partner Denver, but as he tries to keep her safe will these two damaged souls manage to heal one another You need to read to see. This is a well written story that flows well it was a pleasure to read
A wonderful read I really enjoyed it and recommend giving it a try it’s really enjoyable and well worth reading hope u enjoy it like I did
Falling into Right is a FANTASTIC read!! I love how the author created 2 "flawed" people & brought them together to find love & acceptance in each.
I will be reading more by Sharon Kay - her books are interesting, entertaining, & full of wonderful characters.
Falling into Right is part of the Redemption County series but can be read as a stand alone.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Falling Into Right a contemporary redemption story, where your past doesn’t define who you are as a person.
In Falling Into Right we have one character that had everything going for them. A good job that she loves and about to be married to a fantastic guy. Then one dump mistake destroyed everything. However, that didn’t stop Becca Gable to amend her outlook on life. Though she knew it’s going to be a struggle, she is willing to sacrifice everything to atone for the past.
After a few chapters, I didn’t really like the plot. It was a little farfetched. But to get through the book, I trenched ahead. Though I didn’t find the plot-line to my liking, I did, however, enjoy the chemistry between the two main characters of Shane and Becca. Can anyone be sweeter than Shane, I think not! I personally thought that Shane was beyond sweet. He recognizes that people are human and make mistakes. Being in the military and now an officer with the K9 unit he seen every mistake known to man. He didn’t hold Becca fault against her. Which made Falling Into Right a good book. Not a great one, but a good book that I think readers can get behind.
A cute, romantic story that was fairly predictable but that had strong character development. The suspect was easily identifiable which is my only complaint in this story; I would have loved to read about a little more suspense when it came to this story.
I absolutely fell in love with this love story. Falling into Right begins with an actually adorable meet-cute, when Becca Gable slips and falls in a courthouse on her way to pay a fine. Police officer Shane Marlow and his K-9 partner Denver give her a hand up and lecture the teens who'd spilled pop on the floor, and as far as Becca is concerned, that's the end of the story. Becca has just come out of a long-term relationship with the county treasurer, who broke up with her when she was convicted of a crime and therefore became a political liability. So Becca's well aware that a relationship with a cop is highly unlikely. Fortunately for her, fate has other plans, and Shane shows up at her door to return the driver's license she dropped.
Shane is just one of the sweetest, most understanding romantic heroes I've ever encountered. He faces his own personal demons, being ex-military and a survivor of an IED blast that killed half his team. He is a reluctant celebrity hero; despite the county's accolades, he is uncomfortable with the attention and lives with the guilt of his teammates' deaths.
Becca is dealing with her own trauma. A series of personal tragedies leads up to the crime that lands her a criminal record, and she gives up a lucrative career in finance for an entry level job at a seniors' home.
While the chemistry between Shane and Becca was super hot, what made this story so compelling was the deep, emotional connection they formed with each other. Even more than the steamy details of their attraction to each other, it's Shane's compassionate response to Becca's halting confession of her past that made me melt. I love how they bonded over their shared pain, and I love how Sharon Kay resists the easy platitudes and instead allows both characters to work through their experiences together.
As an animal lover, I also absolutely loved Shane's K-9 partner Denver, who can switch from adorably goofy to fierce protector in the blink of an eye. There's a scene where Denver curls up next to Becca to comfort her, and Shane realizes that Denver does that only to humans he considers family, and that was just the sweetest moment.
There's a suspense subplot as well, as a stalker hounds Becca with reminders of her crime. The stalker's identity and motivations aren't all that much of a reveal, but I liked how it forced Becca to confront her past and how special her relationship with Shane is.
Falling into Right is the first book I've read by Sharon Kay and it'll certainly not be the last. It's a wonderful sweet and sexy romance with a strong emotional core, and it'll make you melt and fall totally in love with this romance.
Falling into Right is so much more than I had expected. It's a beautiful, heartfelt story of two people with demons coming together and allowing the other to help heal them.
Becca's life the past year has been awful. She lost her mother, she miscarried and because of the depression she felt, she ended up breaking the law and it caused her to loser her fiancé and her two jobs. Now she's just coasting along through life while working at a retirement center. She meets Shane, a gorgeous police officer while at the court paying one of the fees assessed to her because her embezzlement. Shane and his K9 partner, the German Shepherd, Denver, are patrolling the courthouse when a beautiful woman with huge, sad eyes slips right in front of him. He's affected by her for some reason, and when karma leaves her license on the floor in front of him, it gives him an opening to get to know her.
Can two people with demons inside allow someone in? Can Shane, with his post war trauma and the deaths of his team always on his mind, allow himself to love? Can Becca allow Shane in? They can, and they do, when they find a kindred soul in the other. I love the way their relationship developed. It was organic and natural and easy. Plus it was super sweet and sexy. The emotions both of them felt, and that they allowed the other to share in their pain were beautiful to read.
But, when an anonymous stalker starts harassing Becca, can Shane and Denver save her? Will they ever figure out who has it out for her and who wants to embarrass her over the one thing in her life that she still doesn't understand the reasons for?
Not only is Shane and Becca's relationship a beautiful thing to read, Sharon Kay treats Becca's depression with a deft hand. She doesn't hesitate to open Becca up to Shane and let him know that she still doesn't understand why she embezzled, she doesn't hesitate to let Becca's struggle be real. But, she also doesn't overdo it or make it OTT or melodramatic. At times, different authors can treat the subject of depression with a heavy hand, and it always comes across as soapy or too dramatic. But, here in Falling into Right, the line between real and OTT is toed perfectly. Kudos to Sharon Kay for not only her treatment of depression, but for this entire story. I loved it - both Shane and Becca are interesting, likable, subtly layered characters with a very sexy chemistry. I am really looking forward to more of this series.
This one is a really emotional and heartbreaking story. Its been a tough year for Becca but when she falls on her ass literally she is not expecting on a hot K9 officer to help her especially not so hot. Shane is intrigued with Becca from the start and when an opportunity appears to meet Becca again he grabs it with both hands. And it seems that faith is on their side because they meet in a bar again and so their story begins. Although both having difficulty with the past and the pin is not from the same source they understand each other and they both know what and when to say the right thing and giving the other one support they need. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly
