Lylah hates Valentine's Day. She has for the last two years, since her parents died and left her with her brother to take care of her. It was rough for a long time, she had a difficult time coping. If it wasn't for her counselor and brother, she may not have made it through. She has though, she still has her moments, but she was able to move out and into a house with roommates. She's really close to them, especially the guy she's been crushing on for a while, Chase.

Her roommates have really been trying to get her out for Valentine's. It is slowing working, especially with the idea of spending time with Chase, who seems to actually like her back. Then a letter arrives on their doorstep threatening Chase, one of the guys in the house. Not only does he turn up dead and mutilated, but Lylah and Chase are the ones who find him!

Then there is another .letter.

A former student has been blamed for the stalking and deaths, but is he the one who really did it? With Chase trying to keep her safe, and campus and local police trying to help, the deaths of her friends are still occurring.

I really enjoyed the narrative. I thought I knew the killer, then changed my mind, then went back several times. I'm not saying the ending was a surprise, but it was written very well. I do hope there is a sequel.

I was given the opportunity to read the book by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

This has been on my TBR pile for so long, and I'm glad I finally got around to it. I really enjoyed the storyline and seeing the characters change throughout the story was a great character development. The plot was great and kept my attention. I'm glad I got the chance to read this and will be on the lookout for more in the future!

Lylah attends college and lives off campus with her friends. One of her roommates, Sonny, goes missing and Lylah and Chace find his body when they go to study. His heart is missing. Someone is leaving notes written in cut out letters from magazines and the friends are terrified. One person at a time goes missing and is found murdered. There’s a little bit of redundancy with Lylah explaining her background but the last fifty pages amp up the intensity and suspense with an unexpected twist, 4 stars!

This is my first book by Natasha Preston but I have a feeling that I will be going to get through her backlist asap I stop drowning in my humungous TBR Pile *face palm*

This plot follows a group of friends, six to be exact – housemates and in university. The book jumps right into action – with the first threatening note arriving in the first chapter itself with the murders imminent – which had me trying to guess the culprit; not that it did me any good!

While the plot in the book was delightful; the suspense had me biting my nails at the twists and turns – but it was the actions of the characters that got on my nerves; AGAIN and AGAIN! I honestly wanted to scream (and I did; internally!) for them to NOT do the exact thing that was going to get them killed; yet they went ahead and did it anyways *face palms*

ONE, I could understand; TWO was stretching it; but gosh darn it – even knowing that the threat was real, the characters acted cocky, which exasperated me to no end!

“There is a thin line between bravery and stupid. Stay on the right side people!”

The plot though had me guessing and tbh, not many thrillers are able to do so – and this is the exact reason why it got the rating it did!

READ THIS BOOK JUST FOR THE PLOT PEEPS, – everything else pales in front of it; mostly because the ending has my imagination going haywire!!

Lylah and her friends just want to go out and have a fun Valentines Day, take part in the parties and pranks that all their college gets carried away with. But when one of her housemates receives notes that seem to come from a stalker, Lylah has a bad feeling about the situation. It seems Lylah and her friends are being target and anybody is fair game.

I thought this book was only ok. I found it moderately interesting when I was reading it, but I could put it down and easily forget all about it. I was not super invested and I am not certain why, I just could not get into the story. The mystery was interesting enough but I knew who the killer was about half way through but was uncertain of the motivations for the killing (I thought it was something way more creepy then it actually was to be honest). The best part of the story was the twist in the epilogue, something that made me like the book a little bit more. This is my second mystery by this author and she is pretty good at creating realistic feeling plot lines that could be a true story and I will probably read more from her in the future.

I DNFed this one, and hated to do so. I really loved Preston's book AWAKE, so I thought I'd feel the same about this one. The beginning was maybe the worst info-dump I've ever read. Just pages and pages of telling me things that could have been given to the reader in a much better way. It 100% took me out of the story and was a nightmare to slog through. I eventually had to give up as it just wasn't getting any better.

I’m pretty sure I’ve made my Natasha Preston YA Thriller obsession pretty clear, and You Will Be Mine is epic in its delivery. One by one, a group of roommates receive messages, and these messages mark their death. Who is behind it, could it be one of their own?

There's someone out to get Lylah and her friends, someone they may all know, with one terrifying note, their lives could end. You Will Be Mine by Natasha Preston is a creepy serial killer thriller that made me read with the lights on, even when everyone was home.

Lylah is a sophomore in college, she lives with five of her friends who are more like family after the death of her parents two years earlier. One evening, the friends are planning to go out, and then there is a knock on the door. When the door is opened, no one is there, just a letter. It's addressed to one of the friends, and even though they find the note kind of strange, they decide to go on with their festivities. Everything is great, and the note is forgotten until their friend doesn't come home.

Soon, there's another note at the door. A note for each friend, including Lylah. Someone is out to get them, and the friends are coming up missing left and right. Who would want to hurt the group? Why? This fast paced novel will get the hairs on the back of your neck standing up, it's a fun, fast read, perfect for summer.

Although, I did like the plot of this book, I found it to be a little predictable. Plus, there were several grammatical errors that made me scoff in a way. I got tired of trying to mentally edit the book, but once that gets cleaned up, I truly think that this book will make it's way to several readers hands, and they'll enjoy it just as much as I did. Because of the errors, and the predictability, I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. Still worth it, though.

This is the first Natasha Preston book I've read and it's good. The way the story started is good and I was easily get pulled in into the story. The characters are good, and easy to relate with. You Will Be Mine will have you guessing on who sent the note and all.
Overall, the story is good and interesting. Nice read!

If you like a decent suspenseful serial killer novel this book is for you. I found it a bit predictable but it was still action packed right up untilthe end.

YOU WILL BE MINE is a new adult psychological thriller that challenges everything the characters thought they knew. College sophomore, Lylah, shares an off-campus home with five other students. After the sudden, unexpected death of her parents on Valentine’s Day two years earlier, they’re as close to family as she has, with the exception of her brother, Riley. So when Lylah and her housemates are targeted one-by-one by a serial killer, who may or may not have a history with each of them, life becomes a terror-fueled nightmare to catch the killer before he strikes again.

Plot
The plotting is magnificent. The story unfolds with one terrifying note from the killer after another. Unexpected twists and turns keep the story moving forward, although not at a breakneck pace. Pacing is one of my two complaints with this book. Lylah spends a lot of time inside her head thinking about the same things over and over again, which drags the pace down. And we’re constantly told what she’s feeling instead of allowing us to feel it through her actions. The ending is pulse-pounding, though, and I never saw it coming.

The Characters
This is my second complaint with the story. I couldn’t stand Lylah. She was often reckless and almost always annoying. However, I loved the rest of the characters and that was enough to keep me turning the pages to find out what happened to them. Chace, the love interest, came across as too good to be true at points, but a typical college guy at others, making him a bit of an enigma throughout, which I enjoyed. Isaac, Charlotte, and Sienna were equally intriguing characters and I was rooting for this gang from the opening pages.

Top Five Things I Enjoyed About YOU WILL BE MINE
1. The thriller aspects. Nathasha Preston keeps the reader guessing, terrifying us, and ending chapters on a phrase that only makes you want to keep reading.

2. The ending. The author does a masterful job of keeping the truth hidden from the reader, just sprinkling in enough breadcrumbs to never make it feel contrived. I adore a good surprise.

3. Terror. The killings are suitably gruesome to provide shock and horror, without being over the top.

4. Sienna. She was easily my favorite character. Her spunkiness and quiet confidence made her a great foil to Lylah’s dark insecurity.

5. Campus life. I feel as if the author captured college life fairly accurately, contributing to the atmosphere of the story.

Bottom Line
A decent thriller with a surprise twist.

I think I may have set a personal best on how quickly I read a book. I'm pretty sure it took me about 7 hours to read Natasha Preston's, You Will Be Mine. It was that engaging. The suspense/thriller level were dead on; I could not put this book down. I was completely invested in this book and thought I knew the answer to "Who dunnit?" Man, I wasn't even close! And the end? Holy "no way, Batman!" Is it a cliffhanger? Is it a tease? Is it something that makes me think? I DON'T KNOW!! I just know it wasn't what I was expecting at all!

My biggest issue with this book is that the writing wasn't always as strong as the story itself. The story was great and the characters were interesting. I just found that in some places the dialogue was somewhat stilted and simple. These kids were in college, but sounded more like high school at times. There were also places in the story where a little more information or context would have given the passage or scene more weight. The action scenes were pretty well-written in that there were peaks and valleys where you could catch your breath and then have it ripped from your lungs by what happened next!

Overall, I truly enjoyed the book. It was quick, easy and had just enough mystery and suspense that I had to think.

This book hits you right from the start. No easing in at you. You are at once thrust into a dangerous game by a seemingly sinister secret admirer.

Lylah hasn't had it easy. Tragedy turned her into a shelf of the person she used to be. College was supposed to be a new start. A time to rebuild in the wake of all the sadness she has endured. All the comfort and safety she has achieved slips away as soon as the notes start appearing.

This was my first experience with this author and I was not disappointed. I'm looking forward to going back and reading her other titles.

I am reviewing a copy of You Will Be Mine through Sourcebooks Fire and Netgalley:

Lylah and her friends can't spend a night out together. Partying is perfect to let go of the stresses of life and school.. Lylah hopes that getting on the dance floor with Chace, her best friend will draw them closer together. Lylah has had a crush on Chace from day one, unfortunately he doesn't seem to show any interest.

As the girls touch up their makeup and the guys put on their coats when the doorbell rings but no one is there. It's a note for their friend Sony, perhaps a secret admirer until another note shows up and Sony never comes home.

I give You Will Be Mine five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

You Will Be Mine is a YA thriller/suspense that revolves around a group of college kids living together.

As you can tell, I am torn on how to write this review. While I did enjoy the book, I wasn't overly excited with everything going on. And once again, it's because I struggle with connecting to the characters. The storyline itself is interesting but the lack of character development hurt the story overall for me.

As I said the storyline was interesting; Lylah and her friends start receiving anonymous letters that are addressed to a particular person. When each person starts winding up dead, things start pointing to one person. While I was able to easily figure out who the murderer was, it was still interesting to watch the mystery play out.

Natasha does a good job of throwing in different aspects and people's reactions to things to keep the "suspects" list open to so many. I have to say that the mannerisms in which the friends die is quite gruesome and that will leave the reader doubting a lot of their suspects.

I do enjoy Natasha's writing. She always keeps the story itself gripping and entertaining. I may only rate her books 3 stars, but I do enjoy reading them and will continue to do so.

Overall, it was a good read for me. If you enjoy a good mystery and suspense thriller (and don't hate that you will possibly figure out the killer) this book will be for you. Just don't expect a lot of depth into the characters.

Mind games at it's finest, You Will Be Mine by Natsha Preston is a psychological thriller for those not of the weak of heart or stomach.

You Will be Mine follows Lylah as she struggles with a past that is scary and debilitating, but is surrounded by friends and things that make her strive to be better and grow. Unfortunately not all is as it seems. The story touches on relationships and the struggle to maintain and build new ones when you've had negative ones or negative experiences in your past. It also touches on the importance of family, but also how it can sometimes feel overwhelming and you need to escape that hold to be independent. On top of all that, you get your gruesome, suspense-filled thriller packed with action.

This story never stopped. It was one crisis after another; one horrible scene after the next. While I couldn't relate directly to things Lylah had been through, but I was still able to connect to her and the story. I was fully immersed and wanting to know what was happening next. Preston had a smooth writing style that kept the pages turning and never left dull moments. Lylah's friend circle was a big point in this story. I found myself drawn more to some of the friends than Lylah herself. I felt they added a lot to the story. I spent the entire story thinking it was one person only to be proved completely wrong, which I loved.

Overall You Will be Mine was a fantastic read for anyone who enjoys mystery thrillers with a little love and family thrown in will love this. Plus it will play major psychological games on you! Pick it up. You won't regret it.

Oh man....this was a trip!
What I loved: The language felt natural between all the characters. Their interactions seemed appropriate.
What I liked: The way the story progressed. The author weaved a wonderful tale.
What I hated: THE ENDING!!! Me: oh look a nice little epilogue....WHAT THE WHAT!?!?!
Really loved this whole thing...nice quick read (because I couldn't stop, I had to know!!!).

I really enjoyed You Will Be Mine by Natasha Preston! I have found the other book I’ve read by her to be all-consuming. She gives a good shocking ending. I’ll be honest, when I first started reading it; I thought that there would be no way that I could read a book on 6 characters and follow them all. I, again, was shocked. Preston made it completely easy to follow. You won’t be able to help yourself from guessing who you think is the culprit. I love a good whodunit book, and that’s exactly what You Will be Mine is!

I would have loved a bit more character depth. I really felt like Lylah and Chase were right there from having something… even that extra depth I wanted, but alas, it wasn’t meant... at least not yet. I found myself yelling at the characters a bit for their stupidity. I mean, have you all never watched a scary movie? Do they not know what is about to go down? I was intrigued that Preston kind of left this open to interoperation… is this a standalone? Will there be more books? Overall though, I loved the storyline and the plot. There was a bit more blood and gore in this book than I expected… it didn’t bother me, but I was a bit surprised.

I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I will leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.
