Another great installment to Tremontaine Season 3. Rafe finally quits Florian, still hope that his character gets killed off, for what he did in Riverside with Shade.
A lot happens in 'My Life For Your Life', in a short number of pages. First get to see a glimpse of the old IxKaab, as she has a spy giving her information on the ongoing audit. Then she continues her alliance with the Duchess, while Tess the Hand meets with the Salamander, as Reza and Rafe go to Riverside together, with Micah and end up in Bar fight.
Get a decent helping how deceitful the Duchess is, doesn't matter if they are male or female, she cunningly beds them, get a hint at perhaps she's under estimated an advisory of hers.
Thanks to Serial Box for the advance copy.
Tremontaine chapters are always amazing and this one is no exception. I love the characters and world building and of course the chocolate.
This section of the story was a bit easier to follow than the previous one, because at least I had read the chapter that immediately preceded it! The stories flowed easily from chapter to chapter despite being a collaboration between different writers, and the plot was fast paced and exciting. I was quite bummed that the chapter afterwards wasn't available at the time! Although I suppose if I'm this invested from two chapters in the middle of the story, I should probably invest the time and money to go back to the beginning and read it all!
This week is the week of double takes. Most of my reading notes are variations on ‘…wait. That can’t be right…’ as Tessa Gratton repeatedly points out that the characters don’t actually know all the things we do. It’s a deft dance of minor revelations, with scope for some fascinating developments: Kaab's realisation that the Duchess is not, in fact, in perfect control of herself; and Micah's growing confidence. For all it kept throwing me (surely, surely, Rafe has been to Riverside before... and met Tess already. Surely? But no) there's some lovely character-focused moments here, especially for Reza and for Kaab - I'll admit I expected her to be far less cheerful about being run all over town by her recalcitrant spy!
PICK
Further gorgeousness from Tessa Gratton (though with less focus on Micah than the cover implies). There's tons of elegant footwork in this ep, including more from Diane and Kaab and a scavenger hunt between Kaab and a new player. I'm seventeen kinds of into whatever this thing is between Rafe and Reza, too, and I continue to be enamoured of Joshua. (Never betray me, Joshua!)
This serial is such a pleasure to dip into each week.

The amazing aspect of this Mosaic novel is that you can miss episodes and still follow the story line. The aspect of looking at the characters attempting to cope with the cliff hangers from the last season. You find the beauty of characters and this world in every story. The personal struggles of the characters is addictive.
a common saying pleading loyalty to the friends and connections that will give you power. The Characters are developing connections that will enable them to over come the building conspiracies.
