This is a sweet, clean Christmas romance that's inspired by the Hallmark movie of the same title. The movie wasn't my favorite, but I figured I'd give the book a try. The story is mostly the same, but there's a little more information provided and I appreciated that. The characters are more fleshed out, and I felt like I got to know them better. The writing was great! No real complaints!

I'm not going to lie, I found it hard to read this book since it was based on the movie and not the other way around.

I got an ARC of this book from netgalley.

This book is very well written. The story gives us a glimpse into the life of a movie star. It's not all glamor and glitz. Also shows that we can be satisfied with the way things are but there is always room for change.

Christmas in Homestead is a fun story for the holidays. Jessica is an actress looking to produce movies. Matt is the mayor of Homestead, and although he wants the income for Homestead, he really doesn’t want the disruption a movie crew will bring to his town.

I enjoyed this book, knowing it was also made into a Hallmark movie. It was funny and sweet and of course, has HEA!

Thank you to Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Loving these Hallmark adaptations. While this one didn't blow me away, it was still a very enjoyable read, and I enjoyed the connection between Matt and Jessica.

Christmas in Homestead is about an actress who wants to Produce her own movie and she wants to do that in a quaint little town in Homestead where she heard the mayor does not want to have any part of it. Now, she is staying at the towns bed and breakfast while filming-. Guess who owns the bed and breakfast? And when she pulled into town she orders some cupcakes and guess who she mistakes as a worker there at the bakery? Can you believe all that and with all that stacked against her guess who is her co-star? Her ex-boyfriend. The mayor has a daughter who absolutely loves her movies, and when her mom was alive so did she, very much. So, can she win over the mayor? How does the bed-and-breakfast owner fit in? What about the ex-boyfriend? How does the movie affect the whole town? What an amazing twist this has-do not miss out.

I’m really enjoying all of these novel adaptations of Hallmark’s Christmas movies. This is the second one I've read so far, following Love You Like Christmas: Based on the Hallmark Channel Original Movie. I am a sucker Hallmark movies, but the books are so much better because they allow you to get into the characters' thoughts and use your imagination a little. I love the different points of view that this book follows. This is the perfect book to read to get you in the Christmas spirit, so grab a cup of hot chocolate, turn on your Christmas tree, snuggle up on the couch with some fuzzy blankets, and lose yourself in the town of Homestead. I totally recommend this book for fans of Hallmark movies or Christmas stories.

I love being able to read the stories that are based on the Hallmark movies. Books always give so many great details that movies don't have time to explore, but having seen the movie I have a great picture in my mind of the characters and settings. It's a great combination!

As you may know, I LOVE Hallmark Channel and their Countdown to Christmas. Well, they now have ebooks inspired by the movies. They have a heartwarming, feel-good story that let readers find out what happens after the movie ends.

The first of these new books from Hallmark that I read is Christmas In Homestead by Kara Tate. I remembered watching the movie, but couldn’t remember what happened, until I started reading the book.

I loved the way Tate brought the story to life. As I was reading I could picture the scenes from the movie playing in my mind as the story started to come back.

Initially, I wasn’t sure how I would like reading a book based on a movie I already saw. I have never been one to read movie adapted books. I was surprised by how much I ended up enjoying this story.

Maybe it was that I watched the movie before reading this, but I felt transported right into the movie and pages of this book. I enjoyed the story and reconnecting with the characters. Jessica and Matt were interesting characters in this story as Jessica is trying to produce a movie in a Christmas town. Matt, the mayor, doesn’t want the movie to interfere with the town’s Christmas traditions.

This story made me go from a reluctant reader, wondering if Hallmark and Tate could pull off an enjoyable story for a movie I already saw, to a fan who is looking forward to more of these types of books.

Loved Jessica and Matt. story. Even with seeing the movie each Hallmark book tells a little more about the lives of the characters. Also love the recipes.

A sweet Christmas tale with a predictable ending but that is what we love about Hallmark. The love story with a happy ending.

When I read this book I had not watched the movie yet so I loved being surprised as I was reading. You will fall in love with little Sophie as she is a doll. She adds such character and excitement to the book. She became my favorite character.

This is the perfect book to read as you wind down from a busy day of shopping and visiting. Grab a cup of cocoa and turn on your tree and lose yourself in Christmas In Homestead.

Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for a copy to read in exchange for my honest review in my own words.

Like those Hallmark Christmas movies; but don't have access to 'watch' them? Well you can 'read' them instead. Christmas in Homestead is based on the movie of the same name and its written counterpart doesn't disappoint.

The main plot is a Christmas, rom-com movie set within a movie; or in this case book. Jessica, a famous actress in her own right, is producing her first film on location in the fictitious town of Homestead, Iowa. She meets Matt, a widower, who not only is handsome & the nicest guy you'll ever meet; but also the town mayor who isn't thrilled with a movie crew coming to his small town & disrupting all the Christmas festivities and traditions.

As with all Hallmark Christmas movies, the plots are very similar in nature & quite predictable. This was no different. All characters were super nice or funny or quirky. There is never any true negative qualities to anyone. This can get a little tiresome but it is expected with a book like this, so that isn't a drawback. Matt & Jessica had the typical, but fun chemistry of butting heads & missteps; but still seeing something in each that makes them fall in love.

I really enjoyed the secondary characters of Zoe, Ian & Gavin. While the book doesn't deviate from the film, we get a little more with these people than what we see on screen. I wished there could have been more. They each had a 'fun' voice and helped give the story---pardon the pun----a more 'homey' feel to it. The extra inner dialogue that is provided is well written & helps give fuller character development.

One added element these books have that their movie counterparts don't is an epilogue. I won't give anything away, but it's usually set a year in the future and it's nice closure. While predictable, it truly is a nice plus and provide a better 'finish' to the story.

If you like these types of stories, these books are a fun, quick read to get you in the holiday spirit. They stand on their own very well; but work just as brilliantly as a companion to the movie.

Okay, I loved this movie and when Hallmark announced that they had turned the plot into a book my eyebrow perked just a little. Part of me thought that it wasn't worth it but the other part of me was interested. And it was worth it.

This book stays true to the original movie, giving it new insight and a fresh voice.

Jessica just wants to get a movie done in Homestead but there's one thing standing in her way. Matt is the town's mayor and not happy that Jessica's film crew is invading his town at Christmas. But as things begin to unfold, maybe love is in the air for both of them.

This book is highly enjoyable and appropriate for all ages

I’m enjoying the novel adaptations of Hallmark Channel’s Christmas movies that are currently available. It gives a slightly different perspective of a story I’ve already enjoyed with a few additions to make the story even more enjoyable in written form. The characters are even more fleshed out with access to their internal thoughts and motivations. I love movies, I love books but these are giving me the best of both worlds.

Christmas in Homestead is a fun Christmas Romance between one serious, at times grumpy mayor/innkeeper and an actress well known for her action saga who is also branching out into the producer role as well. When Jessica’s movie production hits Homestead life is about to get interesting for the town’s residents and the movie crew as well. Matt’s town can use the income from this movie’s production but he’s also worried about how filming will interfere with the town’s traditional Christmas events. Jessica simply wants to prove herself beyond her work in front of the cameras. She might have bitten off a lot with this project but she’s also not about to back down one bit. Her introduction to Matt is both funny and endearing – who among us hasn’t made one big, huge mistake at that first impression moment that we still cringe at the memory. Watching Jessica and Matt work their way past their awkward beginning into a real relationship is enjoyable, a few chuckle worthy moments and lots of Christmas promise in the air. The few side plots make life in Homestead very interesting indeed.

I had fun with this story, and really that’s the whole point. If you’re looking for a lighthearted, fun, emotional Christmas love story to fall into, then you’ll love this one.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
