I love the Lexi Carmichael series. Seeing Lexi try to balance being a good friend to Basis and Xavier with work was highly entertaining.
Lexi's best friend Basia is finally getting married to another of her friend's Xavier. Everything seems to be going smoothly, which for Lexi who always seems to have the word trouble stamped on her forehead as, like Stephanie Plum, it looks to follow her. She doesn't go looking for it; it goes looking for her. Her friends and boyfriend Slash, think that she is worrying for nothing. However, Lexi's gut instincts are right as there are some strange big scary dudes at the hotel and when one of their packages gets mixed up with Basia's wedding gifts, they will do anything they can to get it back. This hurdle eventually ends, and Basia and Xavier finally say "I DO" and are off on a secret honeymoon. While on their honeymoon Lexi is given a top-secret package delivery job and what do you know when she arrives it's on the same island and hotel as Basia and Xavier. It also is revealed that it is connected to the packages being re-routed and messed up. With having to keep this mission top secret, Lexi doesn't know who she can turn too and when things get too heated, it looks like for once she may be over her head a bit too much. Also, the book ended on a cliffhanger as somebody knows Slash's real name and where he lives. This made me want the next book as I was like oooh are we finally going to get to know Slash's real name and his background story. If you love romantic suspense filled with humor, then you will enjoy the Lexi Carmichael series by Julie Moffett
Don 't know how I have missed this series. Here this is #10 and I totally enjoyed this book and want to go back and start the series...from the beginning.
Lexi Carmichael is a geek treading in unfamiliar waters as maid of honor for her best friends' wedding. But despite her.spreadsheet, her little black cloud keeps attracting trouble. From pelicans to the mob, Lexi handles it all. Lots of fun!
Oh Lexi.....Elvis...everybody is back to shenanigans, deep friendship and loyalty while solving a 'wedding problem'. Another terrific book in the series
This is a great book; this is the tenth book in the Lexi Carmichael Mystery Series written by Julie Moffett . This book can be read as a standalone, but once you read it you will defiantly want to go back and catch up with the other book in this series. This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
I enjoy this series but I have to admit, I enjoy parts of it more than others.
In this installment, Lexi is serving as bridesmaid for her best friend Basia, who is finally marrying one of Lexi’s other few close friends, Xavier Zimmerman. The role has brought about many duties and things that are outside of Lexi’s comfort zone but she’s appreciative of Basia and she wants everything to be perfect so she’s getting on with it. She can’t shake the feeling that something will go wrong though – lately Lexi has been compiling the data of what happens to her in a ‘Little Black Cloud’ spreadsheet so that she can analyse it. Lexi is the kind of person that ‘things just happen to’ and she’s determined that nothing ruin this special day.
I think these books are better when they focus on the ‘mystery’ and less on the ‘comic relief’ but that’s just personal opinion because I find that crazy incidents with animals bother the heck out of me and there are two of them in this book. The first one is kind of not so bad but the second one…..ugh, I honestly can’t believe it was even left in the book.
I really did enjoy the mystery – as I said, it’s where I feel the strengths in this series are and I always like to watch Lexi doing her thing, gathering information and sorting out things in her head and coming up with a plan. She’s very smart, she’s confident in her abilities and she definitely shines in this book. I loved her process of investigating and could ignore the distractions and silliness that kind of cut in along the way because they were just small moments and the solving of what was going on took up a far bigger portion of the book. I liked that Lexi didn’t need rescuing in this book but I also appreciated that there were people who came to make sure of it.
Lexi’s developing relationship with Slash has been a big thing for me since the third book – I wasn’t too crazy about him as an option in the first book and maybe the second but since the third I’ve been fully on board. I love that it does actually develop – a lot! They’re not just stuck in a holding pattern, she’s not torn between two guys (thankfully that part was cleared up very early on in the series) and they’ve grown as a couple, shared things about each other and moved forward. And they continue to move forward in this one, which I appreciate although once again, the manner in which it happens was kind of another one of those ‘Lexi’ moments. And I really liked the way this one ended. There’s a bit of a cliffhanger and it revolves around Slash and it looks as though the next book is going to be really interesting and quite personal. I do think that the author has done a great job really developing Lexi and Slash’s story and continuing to have it grow over numerous volumes and there’s still plenty left for them.
But this isn’t my favourite one of the series. I’m probably in the minority but I find a lot of the ‘comic’ moments contrived, like they’ve been really thought out and written purely to invoke amusement rather than unfolding naturally. None of them really felt natural and that pulls me out of the story which lessens my enjoyment of it. Lexi is really funny enough on her own. She doesn’t need ‘crazy’ things happening to her to get a laugh. And I really just appreciate her geeky, funny, intelligent side without disasters. However the way in which this book ended has made me so keen for the next book. I really need to find out what’s going to happen there.
6/10
Well Lexi is at it again. This time she agrees. A “a little black cloud” follows her everywhere and she has a spread sheet of data to prove it.
Xavier and Basia are getting married. And Lexi and Xavier are just trying to make it through their wedding duties without having too many panic attacks. With both of them out of their comfort zones, that is easier said than done.
A mix up with a wedding gift causes Lexi and Basia to be held hostage. Of course Slash comes to the rescue and the bad guys are caught. Then Elvis has girl trouble, a pelican interrupts the wedding and Lexi’s parents get upset about her new living arrangements. Well you can say it is adventurous day for the gang.
Basia and Xavier go on their honeymoon, to a secret location, Lexi gets back to her job and unpacking her new home. Her first day back at work finds Elvis’s boss hiring her to retrieve a package. It is a really suspicious task, but Finn and her agree that it should be a simple task and decide to send her.
When on her mission to retrieve the package, she starts looking into a shipping company that is losing packages. Could be a simple inside job? But when the trail leads to where she is it seems to be too much of a coincidence.
As she looks into the mysterious packaging issue, she runs into a bit of unexpected trouble. The kind of trouble that can get her killed. Yep! She has a black cloud watching over her. Can Lexi save herself and protect those she loves?
OMG! OMG! OMG! What an ending! Leaving it open for another amazing story. Can’t wait. This book was soooo exciting. I could not put it down. Not even for a minute. It was a roller coaster ride of thrills and it was so much fun. I swear these books just get better and better. I thought maybe they might dull a little when Lexi made her love decision, but Julie Moffett has not disappointed me. She keeps the books interesting with all the adventures that Lexi gets into.
I have to admit I am falling in love more and more with Lexi and Slash’s relationship. It is developing beautifully. I love it when he calls her “Cara” and speaks Italian to her. So romantic. LOVE IT!!! Swoon worthy!
The characters keep developing more and more with each book. And the adventures get more exciting. This one had me biting my nails on the edge of my seat. Again, could not put it down. It flowed so smoothly and at a steady pace. I am getting excited just thinking about everything that happened and thinking how the next book is going to go. My imagination is running amok.
Julie Moffett is one of my absolute favorite authors. I have read almost all of her books! I am never disappointed. I have to say though out of all her books the Lexi Carmichael Mysteries are my favorite. I love the geek aspect of it. They are full of action and adventure, love and mystery. And let me tell you they have the best characters. I am so in love with them. My favorites are Lexi and Elvis with Slash coming in third. I secretly hope one day Elvis and Lexi will wind up together. Hey a girl can dream can’t she. If you haven’t read this series then you must, because you are missing out on an adventure of a lifetime.

Even though this is book 10, and the first one I have read, I had no problem at all following the story. There is enough background information to help first time readers, but not so much that long time readers would get bored with repeated information. The plot was really fast moving and never dragged. There were also a lot of hilarious bits thrown in. I can't wait to read more of this series.
No lie, Lexi's straightforward approach to anything she doesn't understand makes me laugh. In a relationship she doesn't want to mess us? Read a book about it and develop a bullet-pointed action plan to keep her honey happy! Need to give a maid of honor speech at her best friend's wedding? Research optimal length and how to keep your audience engaged!
Seriously, Lexi makes me smile. Especially when she's getting into the WEIRDEST situations a person can get into. You know, like having to wrestle a crocodile. Or running around like a madwoman so her BFF doesn't realize she's on a covert mission that nobody's supposed to know about.
GOOD TIMES, LEXI! GOOD TIMES!
Along with the crazy shenanigans, Lexi also gets to spend some quality time with her man. The nature of their jobs means they also have more than the regular relationship stuff to figure out. Sometimes national security and non-disclosure agreements means they're required to keep things from one another. Lexi, naturally, tackles this head-on and...well, I like that about her.
As with all Lexi's adventures (or dangerous mishaps, depending on how you want to look at them), this one was a hoot. What will Lexi's future hold? Probably more entries into her "little black cloud" spreadsheet.
Excellent.
5 out of 5 stars
While I am not a huge fan of the Lexi Carmicheal Book Covers I am beyond happy to say everything inside the book is what readers have come to expect from Julie Moffetts Computer nerd.
No Regets will have readers laughing out loud as Lexi tries to figure out the little black cloud that is always following her.
The story is fast pace, filling in lots of questions readers have been asking. Example how Lexi of loner and computer nerd become best friends with an our going Basia. The back story will have readers love Basia and Lexi's friendship even more.
Thank you to Julie Moffett she has the ability to keep her characters and stories fresh with each turn of the page. Book 10 will not disappoint readers and fans.
Thank you Netgalley and Carina Press for the advance copy.

No Regrets by Julie Moffett was another outstanding addition to this series! I am always excited when a new one comes out in this series and this one did not disappoint. I sat down to read it and didn't get up again until I was finished with it.
Lexi is Basia's maid of honor and has had all the trials and tribulations that go along with those duties - many of them were totally outside Lexi's comfort zone but she survived and actually thrived while performing her duties. Unfortunately, her "little black cloud" did appear before the wedding but was quickly taken care of by Slash.
An engaging mystery that sped along until I was breathless. Lexi takes on what should be a routine assignment; but, of course, lands in another dangerous situation. There were so many emotional moments between the characters as each one seemed to be reaching crossroads in their lives but this only showed how each character is growing and maturing within the series. Ms. Moffett's descriptive writing made me feel like I was right there throughout the story. Lexi and Slash's relationship grew by leaps and bounds during this book. I cheered, I sighed and I even teared up at the end. There is also a hint at the end of the book as to Slash and Lexi's next adventure. I am no geek but I still want to step into their world and become friends with all of them.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Carina Press via NetGalley. All of the above opinions are my own. I want to sincerely thank Carina Press for allowing me to read and review this book.
No Regrets is as outstanding as the other books in this awesome series! Julie Moffett creates characters, especially Lexi, who pull me into their world. While I am very different from our favorite nerd, if love and can well identify with the way her mind works. Basia wedding, as you can well imagine, is a continuing challenge for her to fit into the "regular" world. Not that weddings are all that regular even without her need to NOT be with too many people and this time, she has to face...young people, yes kids! This realistic and pretty normal encounter alone would make it worth reading the book. Hilarious as only Lexi can be. The wedding brings a few other mishaps but that one is my favorite because it is so her.
After the wedding, Lexi's life returns to her normal. That means the unexpected and adventure sits just around the corner or right in her face.
I was thrilled to get an ARC of No Regrets from Carina via NetGalley.com. The opinion stated is all mine and reflect my love of the book.
Lexi Carmichael is pretty sure she has an invisible little black cloud following her everywhere she goes but that’s not about to stop her from doing what she does best. All Lexi needs to do is make it to the end of her best friends wedding without any qualified disasters and then she can let out the sigh if relief she’s been holding.
Of course things aren’t always so easy when you have a little black cloud following you around. Sent on the case of a missing package Lexi find herself in the British Virgin Islands without any without her usual host of handy helpers. This is of course is when everything starts to go very very very wrong. Can Lexi track down a package or will she find herself in some very hot water?
I stumbled upon this series last year and was instantly hooked, so an opportunity to get this book early and read it have me chomping at the bit. Julie Moffett has a way of engaging a reader in a high stakes adventure while still maintaining some much needed levity. Often as series grow older, the characters drag and become less compelling and you just kind of beg for the series to end before you can barely recognize the characters. That's not the case when it comes to this series. We're ten books in with a promise of more and the characters are growing (as they should) and the plot is still able to pull a reader in and get them guessing.
I'm anxiously looking forward to another book in this series.
This is a good addition to the series.
It's Basia's wedding so that's sweet. There are developments in Elvis's relationships and also between Lexi and Slash plus another adventure.
The Lexi Carmichael series by Julie Moffett is my favorite series. So when I saw this beauty on Netgalley I immediately clicked on the request button like some crazy person. Of course I also have it on pre-order for January 2018!
What's happening for Lexi in this 10th book? Basia and Xavier are getting married in this book, so romance is in the air! Of course nothing goes without a hitch... and Lexi can add some data in her 'Little Black Cloud' spreadsheet. She is gathering data about the trouble that seems to follow her!
I won't spoil anything about the adventures in this book, but I will say that it gave me so many feels.... sigh... I wanted to highlight so many sentences. Loved loved loved this book. Now I have to wait a whole year for the next.
Quote: 'That, cara, is what I see in your eyes when I look at you. I see my future.' (another sigh).
And (sorry, little spoiler) it ends on a small cliffhanger. Nothing major, but enough to make you jittery and aching for more.
*** I requested and received an ARC via Netgalley. You can be sure this is my honest review. Love this series! ***
LOVED this book!!! This is one of my favorite series and each book is better than the last one. Lexi is the geeky nerd who works in cyber security and totally feels like a social misfit. Nothing illustrates this more than the beginning of the book with Lexi as the maid of honor at her best friend's wedding.
When Lexi accepts a routine assignment at work, it turns out to be anything but routine and she ends up in the middle of all kinds of craziness.
I love the characters in this novel, from Lexi, to Slash, her too sexy for words boyfriend, to the even more geeky Zimmerman brothers and the somewhat normal Basia. The author made me feel connected with them and invested in their story. Add in the humor and smart dialogue and you've got a great book. I particularly love how the characters are intelligent - especially Lexi, who, despite being socially awkward, approaches every situation from a position of intelligence and logic. The is a refreshing difference from so many of the silly heroines popular in so many books.
This is a must read and fans of the genre will love this book. The author is on my must read authors' list.
