As usual, I start with my thoughts on the cover. It isn't great, a bit hohum, but still gets the job done. All and all, not bad.

Now for my review

Solid story that doesn't take it's time getting started. I don't mean it jumps right into the sex. Rather it takes off story-wise rather than taking time to build up momentum. I enjoyed the humor weaved into it, which, for an erotica novel isn't always easy. Because the point of the story is to get you excited and so on.

The dialogue is crisp.

Characters aren't one-dimensional which is another bonus for a story centered around getting you steamed up.

Some descriptions like 'hard as a rock' annoyed me as they're cliche and overused. But that's really nitpicking on my part. They were there and gone and you were more interested on what was happening and what would happen rather than dwelling on those words.

The build-up to the sex was rather well done. Usually I get annoyed when I have to wait to get to the good bits, but not here. The story was pleasant. It didn't knock my socks off so-to-speak, but I liked it. In saying that though, it could have been a bit shorter. Not by much, merely a smidge. Other reviews spoke of the stories ending being rushed. In my opinion it

Now, about the sex. It would have been better if it was a little more specific, but, still, it was enjoyable. Not the greatest in the world, but enjoyable.

A very enjoyable read, although the ending seems kind of abrupt. I had never read a romance/erotica novel where there were two men and one woman and overall I felt like this book was a good introduction to that theme.

This is the first I've read from Lorna James. It's a MFM menage between 2 dukes who publicly appear to be enemies but in actuality are friends who like to share their women. The female character is Lady Sophia who has been in love with Huxley for quite some time. Little did she know that Huxley has always been interested in Sophia but felt he could not act on his feelings. When Cromwell stumbles upon Sophia, he decides that he has to have her. There's definitely a lot of heat and intrigue going on between the characters. I did find the supernatural tones that were peppered into the story a bit distracting though. Apparently Sophia's mother had some kind of gift of sight or connection with those from beyond along with being able to read tarot cards. Because of this Sophia believes in these things as well. If you're interested in tarot cards along with everything else then it might interest you, otherwise it seemed a bit much. Sophia puts so much stock in the cards it takes away from just enjoying reading about the budding relationship that is going on with the two dukes.

This is an Erotica regency romance involving a ménage relationship. It is full of graphic sex scenes between the Sophia and her two men Huxley and Stone. This was an easy and steamy story filled with humor and fun moments as well as some serious times and a bit of mystery. I realize that this is a novella, but the story felt a bit rushed and more pages dealing with background and period details would have added greatly to the story line. The historical time frame was a bit wrong in this story and loosely seemed to adhere to the time-period. Overall, I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading more from Lorna James.
I was gifted an advanced copy of this story by NetGalley for my honest review.

As a fan of historical romances and of things metaphysical and spiritual, I have to say this book really whetted my appetite for both topics. It was a wonderful blend of both, not to mention the steamy happenings between Sophia, Stone, and Huxley. I enjoyed this book very much and I look forward to reading more from this author. I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Well written and fun from the get go. The role of the two dukes actually feels real, and Lorna James has done a good job in making the plot believable. This really helps make the romantic even erotic moments enjoyable and satisfying.

I received this book from netgalley.com to read and review. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I love historical fiction and the twist of this genre was very enjoyable. The characters of Sophia, Stone, and Huxley were compelling and strong. This was the first book I've read by Lorna James and will not be my last. I loved the development of the relationship between these three characters. The love between them was very realistic and true. I hope to read more about these three. It could easily be made into a sequel.

Short, sexy read! I thoroughly enjoyed this historical romp with added menage. I was expecting a pretty straightforward story mostly involving sex but was also pleasantly surprised by some added mystery and intrigue with the supernatural. This book was a lot of fun.

Two Dukes are Better than One
Lorna James
4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Interesting tale of historical romance intermixed with psychic events. Sophia is a young inexperienced woman who read an inappropriate book. And since she read that book she can’t stop thinking about the activities in it. She has a long standing crush on Huxley but he doesn’t appear to feel the same. Then one night she met Stone and started to have inappropriate thoughts about him.
Stone has finally found the woman he wants to marry. She is an innocent virgin but has lots of carnal desires. She seems to be the perfect woman to spend the rest of his life with and someone he can still share with his best friend/enemy Huxley.
This was a pretty humorous historical romance. Definitely not the typical one.
I enjoyed reading this and look forward to more by this author.
Thanks NetGalley for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Sophia is a lady in the 1700's. She is into tarot reading and books, things that ladies are discouraged from doing. Stone and Huxley are Dukes and friends. They also like to fight and share women. A steamy, menage historical romance. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I received an arc from netgalley and am leaving my review.

I am still on the fence about this one. On one hand, I enjoy historical menage a trois much more than contemporary ones. That being said, this one did have it’s faults. While I enjoyed the dynamic between the two male leads, I didn’t feel much chemistry between them and the heroine. The mysticism aspect also came off as convenient writing. It could have really added to the story but instead it just seemed to excuse why things were the way were without much explanation.

Overall, I did enjoy this read. The storyline was interesting enough and most of the erotic scenes are well written. I wasn’t wowed by it, but, knowing what I know now, I would have still read it.

Well written book with great storyline and plot. A sweet book that has great romance. The story is true to it's time period and the language is also. I like when an author has made research about the time period they want to write the story in.

There is drama, family issues, passion, emotions and some twists. Instant attraction. Hot scenes.

Nice chemistry and passion. I like the main characters and how they develop. The story flows nicely and it is very captivating from first to last chapter. The author has delivered a story that is worth the read!

I don't want to be mean, but this book is really bad. It's wordy, silly and uninteresting. The story is dumb, the characters are unlikable for the most part, and the scenes that are supposed to be exciting are vapid. I forced myself to finish it because I agreed to give a review, but I felt my brain cells withering with each page I read. I will never look for anything else from this author. On top of a silly, predictable story, the author had to add a ridiculous element of supernatural at the end. It's SO bad. This is one ARC I'm sorry I read.

I really enjoyed this erotic historical MFM Romance. I loved the main character and thought she was my kind of girl! I love how Lady Sophia says “Why don’t they throw library parties where everybody reads books and wears comfy clothes!” I mean, I think I am in love.
I am also in love with the two male main characters of this story as well. This was more of a novella than a full story and that’s great with me, the kind of girl that likes to ‘hit it and quit it’!
I wish this book was a little longer though so that this fantastic characters would have a bit more depth. There also was this enjoyable mystery subplot that made this really fun. Overall, I highly recommend this steamy read especially if your looking for something a little “freaky, freaky”!

A delicious historical romance that features two dukes interested in the same lady and their road to sharing one another. The author did a great job of creating distinct dukes, with the rougher skeptic Cromwell Stone opposed with his gentler best friend Huxley Brigmore. It's easy for readers to fall for both men quickly. I also really liked the author's use of seance readings and tarot cards as a thread throughout the book; it was very obvious she had a lot of knowledge about tarot card meanings and their contributions to the story helped to move the plot forward as well as establish some mystery. The erotic scenes throughout the book were great-lots of sexual tension (and release), laugh-out-loud moments between Stone and Brigmore, and delicious threesome scenes in the latter half of the book. I will be looking for more from this author!

This was an easy, fun, sexy read with no depth in the story. The ending was a bit flat because I felt that there was no closure between the characters. If you are looking for a fun, sexy ménage book, this one is for you.
I was given this book by Netgalley for an honest review that is all my own.

Cromwell & Huxley seem to hate each other but really love to share women, so Cromwell offers for her hand in marriage but they all fool around together. Lady Sophia Hodges is a bit of a wallflower and loves reading. She gets her hands on a book that seems really boring called The Convent Life Chronicles---but it's really Victorian-age Erotica where a dude disguises himself as a nun, breaks into the convent, and basically has sex with everyone.
The storyline is simple and has some fun moments when the confused girl is courted by both men she is attracted to. The clairvoyance and tarot cards aren't really necessary for the story. The sex itself is not hardcore in anyway.

Two Dukes are Better Than One is a fluffy piece of historical erotica. It's not really a romance per se, but it's sort of packaged as one. But, don't come into this looking for a well-balanced ménage because it's mostly just sex with little to no emotional, character and relationship development. There's even light paranormal threads running through it, so if that's your thing, you just may enjoy this. I did enjoy it, for what it is, but was disappointed to find it wasn't the passionate, emotional ménage I had been hoping for.

Lady Sophia has been in love with Duke Huxley Brigmore for years now, ever since he rescued her from an attack. Now, she finds from her ne'er do well father that he's essentially selling her off to Huxley's arch nemesis, Duke Cromwell Stone. Stone, the man whom is interested in her because she is so enthralled by a piece of erotic fiction she convinced her father to buy for her under the guise that it was a nun's writings. Sophia's dismayed to find that she's attracted to Stone, even as her mind and heart long for Huxley. Huxley, who isn't really Stone's enemy as they pretend. No, in fact, they're best friends who like to share their women. When Sophia finds she'll be able to have the man her heart wants, and Stone, the man her body is attracted to, both, what's she to do? Well, indulge herself, of course!

Add in some silly occult events that surround Huxley's dead sister and Sophia's dead mother, and Two Dukes are Better Than One is a very fluffy, but enjoyable, piece of erotica. It's not the the most erotic ménage I've ever read, nor is it particularly well-balanced between the emotional and the physical, but for what it is, it's enjoyable. If you want something light and fun with ménage steamy times, then put Two Dukes are Better Than One on your TBR list. If, however, you're looking for a ménage that's balanced between the emotional and physical aspects, has good character and relationship development, an actual romantic love story, then you should certainly look elsewhere.
