I honestly could tell by the writing of the first 2 chapters that it wouldn't be a good fit for our box and had to put it down. I may read it again in the future!

What a delightful book! Dear Dwayne, With Love tells the story of Danielle Steele (with an E) and her life long obsession with Dwayne 'The Rock" Johnson. Her unsent letters to The Rock are her diary, and when they are accidentally made public, chaos ensues. While I found this book to be a bit of a slow start, once I got about a quarter of the way through I couldn't put it down! I found myself rooting for Dani and her misfit group of friends. This book is a great guilty pleasure!

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Move over DJ, and hello, Miraculously Beautiful Marco.

Eliza Gordon has another winner on her hands with her quirky leading lady, Danielle Steele with an e. Add in her zany family, friends and co-workers, blossoming feline-fish interpersonal relations between Hobbs the depressed goldfish and a wacky little tabby kitten named Aldous, plus Danielle’s new weird, funny-shaped, sweaty gym family that have adopted her into their ranks, including personal trainer, Miraculously Beautiful Marco (British accent included!!!) and you’ve got a match made in spandex.

“You’ve got a gym fun of regular people doing regular exercises. I thought I’d come shake things up a little.”

When Danielle’s dreams of becoming an actress collide with her life-long admiration of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, she has to find the motivation to change her life in order to compete in an all-out obstacle course for charity to win a walk-on roll in one of DJ’s films. Goodbye doughnuts, hello kale smoothies. With the help of her new gym family, Dani embarks on a journey that will change her life in ways she never could have expected.

“You are the biggest handful I have ever trained. But you also have the biggest heart.”

Dear Dwayne, With Love is effortlessly hilarious, inspiring, heartfelt, surprising, and filled with genuine characters. Eliza Gordon’s books have the magical ability to make you feel good – it’s like instant happiness, whether you’re reading one of her books for the first time or the eleventh.

Now we just need to keep Hollie Porter and Danielle Steele far away from each other, because the hijinks (while hilarious) those two could get up to could border on natural disaster level. Look out Jayne and Luke, Danielle might want to take her cheat-day at Piewalkers!

As with all of Eliza Gordon's other books, Dear Dwayne, With Love has become one of my all time favorites!

Eliza has a great knack for creating quirky and endearing characters with real-life issues and concerns. In this case it is Danielle Steele, an actress who has moved back to her home town of Portland and is dealing with family, work, and man drama.

Danielle vents her frustrations and makes observations about her life in a private blog she writes. Each entry is addressed to her idol Dwyane 'The Rock' Johnson. I liked that the entries were inserted throughout the book as they often added a lot of humor since Danielle was being 100% honest with her thoughts and feelings.

When she finds out about a fitness charity event that the Rock is hosting in Portland, she knows she has to participate. This of course means she needs to get in shape and she begins to train with Marco.

The gym doesn't seem like a place where one would do a lot of personal growth, but Danielle does just that while making progress toward her fitness goals with personal trainer Marco. I found myself rooting for her more and more as the plot progressed.

I highly recommend this and Eliza Gordon's other books if you are looking for fun, hilarious reads with a little romance thrown in.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book is so much fun! It actually made me laugh out loud several times. The lead character is a very lovable person with a bit of a messy life. She’s got a great heart and I thought she was extremely likable.
The story is very funny, entertaining, heartwarming and happy.

I’ve been on a Christmas book streak lately because I love that happy feeling you get at the end of a good holiday story. Ironically, this book was a break in my Christmas reading but it leaves the reader with that same happy feeling.

Here’s a bit about the story:
Danielle is almost 30, she’s working a job she barely likes, she dreams of her acting career taking off, she has an insignificant other named Trevor, her mom is a strange lady, she has nothing in common with her sisters but love and she has a very long term crush on the Rock.

One day, all the stars align and Danielle’s life starts to get very interesting.
Her agent tells her about a dream job, she could get the chance to be an extra in a Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson movie. But in order for this to happen, she has to win a spot through a sporting event.
Danielle doesn’t really do sports but this is a dream opportunity.
So, she joins the gym and starts making a very serious job of getting in great shape.

I don’t want to give any more away. There are some fun, crazy twists along the way.

I liked Danielle, she was a bit kooky but she was pretty good to everyone around her. I mean, she bought cat stuff for her co-worker with cats and she even made friends with the homeless man outside her office.

Add in the fact that I’m also a huge fan of The Rock and they added a cute kitten to the plot. What’s not to love here?

I got the chance to read an early e book edition through NetGalley. Thank you! I thoroughly enjoyed this and plan to look for more books by this author.

This was a wonderfully delightful read. This was my first time reading a book by this author. I really enjoyed this story and the characters. It was seriously comical in some parts and emotional in others. The title and book cover are an excellent fit and choice for this story. My favorite characters are Howie and Marco.

GAH! I have a HUGE issue with this book!

Here it is November and I’ve finished it, but it doesn’t come out until January. So I want to add it to my favorites of 2017, but it doesn’t even come out until next year…WHAT DO I DO?!? (2018 just got it’s first favorite!)

Dani is not only infatuated with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but she’s used him as a muse as a sort of therapy, addressing all of her pre-pubescent journal entries to him. Her life has been turned upside down after she returns to Oregon, called home from Los Angeles due to her mother’s health issues. So when she finds out that she has the opportunity to complete to meet Dwayne and have a possible walk on role in one of his movies, she works to get in shape and win. Along the way she meets a super hot trainer, loses and gets back her friends and family, and finds out just who she is along the way.

I adore this book, everything about it--the characters, the storyline, all of it. It had me from the first page and it was one of those books that I didn’t want to put down, and the pile of laundry I have to catch up on is a testament to that.

Told from Dani’s point of view, Gordon has crafted a story using a multi-media type of approach with her storytelling and she does it masterfully. Through a series of diary entries, faxes, emails, and texts, we get an idea of the lunacy that is Dani’s life, whether it is her crazy work life or even crazier family. Each character is complex, no matter how minor, and adds something special to the story.

Dear Dwayne, With Love is side splitting and sweet. If you’re looking for something different, this is the book for you!
