It’s never a good sign when it takes me five days to read a book.

I have read one other book by Kelly Jamieson - Dancing in the Rain. It was fantastic, which is why I requested the ARC for Long Shot. However, right from the beginning it seemed like this was written by a completely different author, reading more like a YA story than one about people who are in their 30s (or very close to it), and had multiple things that just made me roll my eyes. Which is unflattering for a woman on the downward slope of her 40s.

Reese has fled from New York City for some mysterious reason (this is strike one for me against this book - I don’t like when something is held back for the purpose of artificially creating drama). She works as a waitress at a tequila bar owned by Cade and his two friends, all of whom are former Navy SEALS (because, of course they are). Reese is a good waitress, but Cade can tell she’s not really who she’s pretending to be.

Besides a lot of talk about food, not much else really happens in this book, especially in the first third of the book. Reese’s internal monologue spends a lot of time alluding to some big event that happened in NYC, and when revealed it was actually a good reason for picking up and moving to San Diego - but there was no reason to keep it a big secret. And then when Cade finds out who she really was before moving to San Diego, he’s so furious that he wants to fire her?! I’m sorry, but that reaction was over-the-top and ridiculous.

A decent attempt was made at character development, but again, I felt things were overdone. Cade’s backstory was extremely sad, but it seemed like the author thought, oh, crappy parents aren’t bad enough, what else can I throw in? And the “reason” why he was going through women like cheap tequila almost made sense to me, but didn’t make me like him any better (although I did give the author bonus points for something original there!).

Another thing that made me roll my eyes were the descriptions of her new friends, Carrie, who is a photographer, and Hayden, a scientist “who’s working on a cure for cancer.” Maybe I’m just in a cynical mood, but really? To round out the group, maybe Carrie could be working towards world peace while Reese solves world hunger. Throw in a dog that they teach to surf (and spent half a long chapter on it), and I think my eyes may get stuck in the top of my head. Sorry, that’s a bit snarky of me, but that’s what this book made me do!

There just wasn’t much that worked for me in this book. I didn’t care for the writing, I didn’t care for the story, I didn’t care for the characters (I haven’t even touched on my dislike of the manskank “hero”), and I barely made it through this book. The only thing that saved it from a single-star rating was a sorta decent ending, although an epilogue that covers the next week after the story ends seems kinda silly. I’ll give Kelly Jamieson another try, but sadly this book was a miss for me.

I love this series and this one did not disappoint! I've been looking forward to Cade's story and Kelly Jamieson definitely delivered an amazing story! Cade and Reese are a fantastic, multi-faceted couple. They are not in any way perfect. They are complex, struggling people who begin to help heal each other. I love Reece's dog and how that storyline was weaved into the overall story. Quite well written, expertly paced, great character development. It has all the elements of a good romance! This one grabbed me and swept me up. I did not want to put it down and yet I didn't want it to end. I don't think you have to read this series in order but I think you'll get a lot of extra enjoyment if you do! I definitely recommend this one! Happy reading!

This one comes out on February 27th so be sure to make a note to pick it up then!

Reese is a waitress. Just a waitress. She’s trying to get her life together after a devastating incident. Working at Conquistadors is helping her to do that. Now if she can just stay out of the kitchen and away from Cade, one of the owners.

Cade is the spreadsheet guy of the business. It’s his job to make the bottom line black instead of red and it’s been a real struggle. When their waitress keeps sticking her nose into things that are not a part of her job description he finds himself getting riled. He needs to be in control and he’s quickly learned that there is no control where Reese is concerned.

This was such a good book! I loved the interactions between this couple and even Reese’s dog Jack. There were so many different layers that needed to be unearthed as they moved forward from antagonistic boss and employee to lovers.

Reese’s character was broken and struggling so hard to find solid ground. I respected that she never gave up. She kept fighting to find peace. Cade had his own demons to battle and he recognized the same in Reese and offered her the support needed to help her step out of the darkness and into the light. He was protective and caring and even though a manho prior to Reese, he was never an a-hole about it.

This is fast paced and well written with secondary characters from previous books that didn’t dominate the story but added to it. The steam level is perfect and the epilogue will make you smile.

This series is centered around three ex-seals who retired and opened up a tequila bar called the Conquistadors. Beck and Hayden's story is book one, Marco and Carrie's is book two and Long Shot, we get Cade and Reese.

Cade is the typical playboy that sticks to one night stands only. He doesn't have time for a relationship and he doesn't really believe he can love someone. He's upfront with the women but that doesn't stop them from coming to his bar to try and change his mind.

Reese is the new waitress at Conquistador and she's pretty vocal about the lousy food being served there. Being a strong personality, her and Cade are often butting heads. As they bicker, Cade realizes Reese seems more invested in how the bar is run for being a waitress.

Out of the three guys in this series, Cade was the one I thought I would like the least. I ended up really loving his book. I'm not a big fan of playboys but when they stop their ways for the ONE, I must admit they can win me over.

I liked the mystery surrounding Reese for the first part of the book. You learn she is running from something but the author was pretty good about keeping you guessing.

When a love/hate relationship is done right, the chemistry can be pretty hot. I would say Reese and Cade's was done right! Arc provided by Netgalley.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book which is the conclusion to this series. I am sorry to see this series end because I have had fun getting to know these former SEALs and their feisty partners. This one pairs Cade, the numbers guy, and Reese, a waitress (at the moment), who challenge each other and watching them is a delight. Reese is a transplant from New York and it is evident she is running from something and waitressing is not where she really belongs. Get her in the kitchen and she shines. It takes a few fresh ingredients, secret salsa making, and the cook not actually being able to cook before everyone realizes Reese is the one responsible for the changes in the menu. Add in a panic attack and pillow talk and finally Reese and Cade come together. All bets are off then. Can these two who are both sure they cannot handle a relationship actually find what they need in each other? Only if they get out of their own way. This was such a fun and enjoyable read and I highly recommend this one and, in fact, all three in the series.

Really cute story! I love the sexual tension and slow burn between Reese and Cade. Jack was a really nice addition to the story and I loved how he fit in to the ending. Definitely give this romantic and sensual story a shot.

Long Shot is about two characters that have dealt with tough experiences and their paths cross. Cade is an ex-Navy Seal who owns a bar along with two other men who served with him. Reese is a waitress at Cade's restaurant who is overly qualified for the job but is running from her past. The book had potential but I just couldn't find myself getting into the book. I felt as if there was too much going on and it didn't really grab my interest. Once secrets were revealed about both characters, I felt incomplete. It wasn't quite satisfying.

After reading the two previous books about these former NAVY seals and their bar, I was excited to read this one. Great story about the mysterious Cade and more details about his past and why he is the way he is. Throw in an enticing bar tender with a knack for pushing his buttons and you are sure to see fire.

I love all your book. Cade and Reese are great together. Fear, love, friendship. Even the dog is cute!

This was really good. I loved it, just like the rest of the series. The characters and emotions were good, especially Jack! 😀 I wish there were more books in the series.

Cade owns a tequila bar with his 2 SEAL buddies and even though they have found the love of their lives (in book 1 & 2), Cade is still playing the field ... one night at a time. But when he hires a new waitress (Reece), his chest flutters when he sees her, but Beck and Marco have warned him to stay away from the staff, because they don't want to loose good staff because he can't keep it in his pants. But after 3 months of keeping away from her, one night when she has a breakdown, he takes her home and all his resistance fails.

I loved how even though Cade was a manwhore ... he was still a good guy and deep down he wanted what his buddies had, but was afraid he didn't deserve it. And even though Reece was in her late 20s, she seemed to be kinda innocent in the relationship department. Together they are just a couple that you couldn't help fall in love with and want their story to end with a happily-ever-after. This book is a great addition to the series.

Cade Hardy has taken interest in his bar's new waitress Reece, she is good at what she does, but sometimes she is a little too opinionated about what should be done at his bar, and it irks him more than a little. But there is also another side to her, one that she doesn't want to reveal, but every once in a while a little of it slips out, and it's caught his attention, enough that he wants to help her deal with whatever it happens to be... she on the other wants nothing to do with him. He knows she has seen him leave with random women, heard the rumors of his reputation, but he wants to show her that he can be a better man, if she will give him the chance. Now he just has to figure out a way to convince her to let him in, and accept his help!

Long Shot is an absorbing and steamy tale that will grab you from the first page, and hold you hostage until the last! As soon as I met these two I knew they were going to treat me to a good story, there was a lot of resistance there, and some evident sparks mixed in here and there, which could only mean one thing, things were destined to get hot at some point... and boy did they ever!! Along their journey things took a serious note too, one that tugged on my heartstrings, and stirred my emotions...overall it was a really pleasurable tale, one that is sure to linger with me for a while! Highly recommend this one, these two wonderfully crafted characters are sure to score a special place in your heart!!

Long Shot (Last Shot, #3) by Kelly Jamieson... This is the 3rd book in the series ...now I have to go back and read the first two.... I was privileged to preview this book on #NetGalley and really enjoyed Reese and Cade's story... They are both dealing with issues and it was fun and touching watching them help each other heal...they get to their HEA and lets not forget Jack.

I love this series! I’m sad to see it end but am happy to finally get to see the mighty womanizing Cade fall prey to love. Beck and Marco already found their HEAs with Hayden and Carrie but Cade is determined to keep up his wild ways with one night stands. Until Reese starts working at Conquistadors. He is instantly attracted but knows he shouldn’t act on it because he is her boss. But best laid plans and all that. She ends up being everything he never knew he wanted and turns out was also afraid he could never have. I just love them together! They heal each other and are simply perfect together ! I also love Jack; he’s an adorable surfing surprise!!

What an amazing story to wrap up this series with! Cade and Reece are awesome characters and I was cheering for them right from the start. Cade is the money man at Conquistadors. Sure he likes to blow off steam with the ladies but he's committed to making the bar a success. That means dealing with the staff which includes the feisty new waitress Reece. Keeping his attraction to her in check is proving difficult especially when she challenges him at every turn. It's clear she has secrets but uncovering them is hard until one day everything becomes obvious!

Put this one on the must read list. I highly recommend it.

I had read book 2 of this series, and even though ii was not one of my favorite books , I decided to give this series a second chance.
Maybe because I am a mature woman, but this no did not do it for me either.
I was never engaged in the plot, nor did I connect with Reece or Cade .
Did I skip some pages? Yes, but since I was determined to find out what secrets were being kept, I finished it.
Still, I respect the efforts and dedication of the author, and for that , I have given it a 3 star.
I was gifted this copy by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Waitressing at a tequila bar on the beach in sunny San Diego may not be what Reese Kirkwell wants to do forever, but for now it’s perfect—other than the flashbacks to the tragedy she caused in Boston. And the fact that one of her bosses is a domineering, first-class manwhore who’s as stubborn as he is sexy. If he’d just listen to her, she could double his business. But it would also mean getting close to someone, and that’s a risk she can’t afford.

Cade Hardy’s partners at Conquistadors are like his brothers, but he’s the money man trying to keep them all afloat. To blow off steam, he’s been sleeping around a little. The last thing he needs is business advice from their crazy-hot new waitress. Cade can’t figure Reese out. She’s smarter than she lets on, and she doesn’t hide her disgust for his active sex life. But after he recognizes her PTSD symptoms, Cade is determined to save her . . . unless she saves him first.

Reese is waitressing in a tequila bar in San Diego. She’s there for just a short time, but she doesn’t know how long. Of course, the longer she stays, the more she wants to stay. Of course, having Cade Hardy, her boss, as eye candy isn’t hard. She just hates when all of his old conquests show up. When Reese and Cade start becoming friends and then more, Reese isn’t sure what she should do.

Cade is a good guy but has had an incredibly hard life. He loves his business partners (and fellow former Navy SEALS) but he can’t love a woman. At least, that’s what he thinks until he starts getting closer with Reese and finds that he doesn’t want just one night, he wants her forever.

This was a cute book and a great conclusion to this trilogy. I wasn’t sure how Jamieson was going to handle Cade and his many women, but I thought she did a good job of showing us what a manwhore he had been, and also showing us that he was no longer that man. I loved Cade and Reese together as they just always seemed like they were in sync.

The part of the story that dealt with Reese’s PTSD was very sad and I felt for her. I was happy to see Cade dealing with it so well and not looking down on her for her issues. On the flip side I really loved how Reese talked Cade about his family issues without pity but definitely understanding.

Overall this was a good story that I really enjoyed.

Reece and Cade are both control freaks who are intrigued by one another. Cade is a man-who** and Reece doesn't hide her disdain for it. Cade is her boss at Conquistadors which is the tequila bar he owns with his 2 friends who were all SEALS together. Reece is hired as a waitress, but it is apparent that she knows way more about managing a restaurant than she is letting on. Cade is intrigued but also likes to be in control and losses his mind several times when he thinks Reece oversteps her boundaries.

Reece claims to not want to do anything but waitress and try and move on from whatever happened in New York, but finds herself being drawn into the kitchen to help out their cook who is struggling. She fosters a dog, named Jack, who appears to understand her PTSD symptoms and provides her with comfort and solace. Reece doesn't want to set down roots as her plan is to return to NYC at some point. Her life is easy and she wants to keep it that way.

Cade is feeling restless now that his 2 partners have found the loves of their lives and are moving forward with their personal lives. Cade doesn't feel he wants a commitment with anyone. His childhood was horrific and he bears the scars from that. He knows he shouldn't use women to compensate, but finds himself drawn to it anyway. When Marco and Beck call him out, he reluctantly agrees to tone it down. They also tell him to stay away from Reece because she is an employee.

Both Reece and Cade know they shouldn't get involved, but find themselves willing to cross the line anyway. Cade is intrigued and also gets frustrated with Reece. Reece doesn't want to get attached to anyone or anything so she fights her attraction also. When the two get together, they feel the burn. I liked how Kelly Jamieson shows both of their struggles. The book flowed well, had quite a bit of charm to it and was quite interesting. Cade and Reece were both layered characters and it took a while to find out their whole pasts. I liked how they were both able to connect and accept each other. Overall a good book and worth the time to read it.

This is a terrific hot-boss romance, with plenty of simmering sexual tension coupled with deep emotional issues and personal tragedies. Reece is running from something in her work-related past, working as a waitress even as she yearns to return to cooking, just not the responsibility of running the kitchen. Cade is the last single partner in the tequila bar he owns with his SEAL buddies, and he has his own hurts and insecurities that keep him from settling down with one woman. They are both strong-willed leaders who frequently butt heads over what's best for the bar/restaurant, but when the secrets start to be reveals, hearts start melting and suddenly everything is a lot clearer, even as it gets more complicated.

The writing is exceptional, grabbing the reader from the very first page and never once letting up. This is one of those "just one more chapter, I promise" stories that you simply can't put down until you're at the beautiful ending. You'll even learn a thing or two (or three) about tequila as you spend the time in this amazing reading experience. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
