Love reading Cade and Reese’s love story. Reese is looking for a fresh start to life; she’s not looking for anything permanent. Cade is a player also not looking for anything permanent until he met Reese. There’s a lot of chemistry between the two which they try to contain. Emotional read about sensitive subject. Secrets are revealed and they both learn that they have something that they each need. Love the banter between the two. Great read.
Once a top chef, Reece comes to Conquistadors as a waitress, but that doesn't last long when she sees a need to help one of the owners Cade revamp the menu. While working together the two develop an attraction toward one another.
I have read all of the books in this series and Kelly Jamieson did not disappoint. This was a great read and a good conclusion to the series. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Spicy and hot, this story evokes a lot of emotions as well as a lot of OMG moments. I really enjoyed every moment of this book and found it was hard to put down! It was a brilliant read and I would highly recommend it if you love a story packed with passion and so so much more!
Book 3 in the series and once again another hit by this author! Highly recommend!!
This book was really slow out of the gates. REALLY. SLOW. In fact, for the first third of this book, I was pretty sure the hero of this book was restaurant/food/kitchen rather than the actual hero. Is there such a craving in romances for such long, loving descriptions of food prep? I honestly found myself in the whole first half thinking way more about the success of the restaurant venture rather than the couple that was supposed to be getting together. Idk, maybe everyone else out there really does love reading about cooking so much? I felt like entire paragraphs were recipes in longhand. Where was the romance???
Once it got going, which was around the 50% mark, it was fine. I liked the characters, I liked how they were together once Cade stopped being such a jerk. I liked the reveal of their troubled past and how they soothed each other. I definitely liked when they stopped talking about going to the food wholesaler and smelling peppers and tomatillos. Perhaps if I'd read the first 2 books in the series, I would have been more invested in the restaurant plot and why the chef didn't even know how to cook? And how uncomfortable it made me that in San Diego, a famously multicultural city with a huge Latinx population, it’s a white woman who is some kind of virtuoso chef in Mexican and South American cuisine? It was super hard for me to overcome the fact that half of the book was about how to make the restaurant successful rather than how to make this couple successful.
Reece and Cade. I don't know if I even have adequate words to express how much I love these two! They both had pasts they were running from, but coming together saved them in ways that were heartbreaking and hopeful. Simply loved this book!

I adore Kelly Jamieson books and I definitely have enjoyed all of the books in the Last Shot series. I've enjoyed getting to know all three guys that were the heroes in each of the books and I have enjoyed going on the trip with them as they've gotten their tequila bar Conquistadors off the ground. Each and every one of them has held my attention from the outset and Long Shot was no different.
Cade Hardy is the hold out of the three owners of Conquistadors in the love department. He doesn't really believe in it for himself. For others, it's fine, but he would rather have a woman in his bed for a night and then move on. He's clear about that with all of them, so there aren't any unrealistic expectations. Cade also knows that some things need to change around the bar because while they are making money, the food they are serving isn't pulling in enough. He's trying to work with their
current chef to improve things so he doesn't have to let him go.
Reese Kirkwell needed a change. She needed so much of a change that he picked up her life in New York and moved all the way across the country to San Diego where she is now a waitress at Conquistadors and a foster mom to an adorable puppy. The question is, can Reese actually step away from what she is trying to get away from or is she going to be pulled back toward it even though she'd prefer not to be?
As Reese and Cade begin working together, it's clear there is chemistry between them. Cade has promised Beck and Marco that he will stay away from any romantic entanglements with their employees, but is that a promise he can really keep where Reese is concerned? And, will things from both of their pasts cause issues in what could be something great for them in the future?
I really enjoyed this book from the get go. I liked Cade and Reese and the involvement of Beck, Marco and their women was welcome as well. One of my favorite parts of the book was the foster puppy, Jack. He was exactly what both Reese and Cade needed and he made me smile throughout.
Kudos to Kelly Jamieson for another awesome addition to this series!
This is the 3rd book in Kelly Jamieson's "teguila" series. It was easy to read and enjoyable and I did love Cade and Reese. My only complaint was it was very predictable. The breakup reason/conflict has been done so many times before.
This book was simply amazing. I don’t do spoilers or drawn out reviews, this book is just one of those must reads. So good
It was really nice of author Kelly Jamieson to write a novel prominently featuring three of my favorite things: food, dogs and romance. If this sounds like you, Long Shot is a sure shot.
This is the third and final installment of the Last Shot series featuring former Navy SEAL buddies who open a tequila bar on the beach in San Diego. I don’t think I can pick a favorite entry; they are all winners.
Sometimes, as a series goes on, the author must do an awful lot of back-story explanation, which gets boring and repetitive. Somehow Jamieson avoids these writerly sins moving the set-up along and getting quickly to Reese and Cade’s story.
Hired as a waitress at Conquistador’s, it’s apparent very soon that Reese is hiding from something and not quite what she would seem to be. Cade meanwhile is running from something in his past and believe me, when the nature of that situation is revealed, my jaw dropped.
In between there is a great dog, a lot of delicious-sounding food and great food writing and now I know more about tequila than I ever thought I would, a pretty good use of my time. Reese and Cade have great chemistry and even better banter. Once secrets are revealed, I appreciated that neither turned into a raging teenager but remained mature adults in addressing their issues. That’s maybe not as exciting as a car chase, but sometimes it’s what a story calls for.
Highly recommended.

I am a fan of Kelly Jamieson's Aces Hockey and Bayard Hockey series. I had not heard of this Shot series so I was excited to read this one. Although it is a standalone, I will read the previous books. There is a lot going on this book, attraction, business, regret, pain, a surfer dog, love and sex! A few of the plot twist were quite unexpected ( Reese's reason for being in San Diego and Cade family life pain) And it is all well written and the characters are well developed. My only issue is that I felt the story wrapped up a bit too quickly.
I was wondering how the banter between Cade and Reece would be after they got to know each other. Because honestly it was pretty awesome in the beginning. It was still awesome, just with a sexy kick to it.
I've really enjoyed this series, and can't wait to see what is next from Jamieson.
Reece was a rising star East Coast chef until tragedy struck, now she's burying her head in the San Diego sand, slinging bad tot-chos at a tequila bar, and not-so-silently judging her (attractive) womanizing boss. Cade and his Navy SEAL buddies have poured everything into their bar and restaurant except halfway decent food. In true military fashion, Cade does not care for his new waitress openly criticizing their food, or sneaking into the kitchen to whip up better dishes herself, even when the improved food is a local hit. In butting heads, they learn they both have a lot more to like about each other than either first thought. Mingling with his staff is a big no-no, and Reece still has culinary dreams that don't involve staying at a smalltime San Diego operation. There is a peace to be found together, but only if they're both willing to take the chance.
It was an okay story kind of predictable within the first few chapters.. but interesting nonetheless
Once again, Kelly Jamieson doesn't disappoint :)
A fun romance the tis both sweet and steamy without going overboard. I love the tequila bar and the new food and the characters! You can't go wrong picking this one up.
I really tried to get into this book as I love Kelly Jamieson but for some reason it just didnt work for me
Excellent book! Third book in this series and it does not disappoint. It is full of heart and really great characters! Cade and Reese are both very strong willed and stubborn but it seems to work for them. They challenge each other and it seems to make them and those around them better. I love that Reese sneaks into the kitchen to help out dear trying his best but failing miserably Sal, but then he couldn't keep it quiet and spilled the beans. Jack stole the show, what a sweet doggie and him leaning to swim and surf, loved it! I loved how he felt with her PTSD and how Cade was there for her when she needed him to be. I love it when the hero comes in and saves the day and Cade totally did that in this book. The ending was perfect! The Christmas presents were so thoughtful and fun. Truly a great book in the series.
Great book. This third book present us with new opportunities and love in strange forms.
Cade and Reese are made for each other. Their hearts complete each one.
I enjoy reading this story. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.
A super fun read! I loved both Cade and Reese -- both a little broken and stubborn, but kind and caring too. Jamieson makes her characters feel like friends. We knew from the beginning there was more to Reese than meets the eye. After learning of the tragedy she faced in NYC, you understood her pain and reluctance so much more. It was fun to watch Reese with Sid too -- a great use of ancillary characters to provide a little fun to the story.
Of course, one of my favorite parts of the story. . .Cade and Jack! Cade's gentleness with that little dog was just too cute for words!
I have not read the previous books in this series, and I had no trouble picking up with just Cade's story. Now, I need to go back to learn how the other two Conquistadores found their happiness!
Each book I read by Ms. Jamieson is just as enjoyable as the previous -- I've read several of her Slap Shot books prior to this one.
