Great ideas for rainy days!
I'm always looking for things to do with my only child. I'm happy this book gave us some many ideas and inspired us to try new things.

This is a good book for someone new to crafting with children. The crafts are simple and easy to complete with minimal supervision, but may not be new information to someone with a lot of experience with crafts. The book is not long, and more pictures/examples would have been useful, since someone reading this book is probably rather new to crafting.

Tween/Teen craft book

I think Cintia Gonzalez-Pell had some nice ideas for some cute crafts like the Decorated Wooden Bangles. However it seems like for a few of them there needed a little more guidance or instructions like the Painted Animal Gift Box, Personalized Sneakers and Paint Your Own Pillowcase. While some kids make be able to freestyle the items basic patterns for the animals or geographic designs for the shoes might have been helpful.

This book as some pretty good crafts in it for ages 9 and up, though a few could be done with younger children with assistance. I like the idea of decorating white tennis shoes! I've always wanted to do that! Some crafts may coast a few bucks to make, but there a few that can easily be done with scraps of year, nature materials and old sweaters , etc...good ideas for recycling projects! Photos are helpful in creating the projects.

Make in a Day is full of crafts that you can, well, make in a day. The title sums it up perfectly. Some of the projects seemed a bit cheap or unpolished, but then again the fun part of making crafts with children is in the making of the craft, not always the finished project.
There were some cute projects that I liked, and thought would be a great idea for a group craft. Public libraries do not have large budgets for supplies, so this book is very helpful for planning quick, fun, low-budget crafts.
I really liked
Multi-colored Brach Weaving
Recycled Sweated Gadget Cozy
and
Atristic Abstract Painted Canvas

There are 15 projects in all, with clear photographs of steps in the instructions.

Great crafting book! My 10 year old daughter loved looking through it and getting ideas of crafts to do with her younger cousins!

I think craft/activity books are a great choice for those buying for our youth. The range of craft projects in this book will be sure to interest ages 7-12 years. There's simple instructions for projects that include, cutting, embroidery, fusing, masking, modelling, painting, planting, printing and weaving.

My five-year-old niece is already an artist, and I'm the farthest thing from one! I really liked this 'Make in a Day Crafts for Kids' book since it gave me great ideas that even I could do. Having to keep her entertained as I babysit is a feat, and these crafts are something that both she and I can work on together. Her favorites so far would be the 'fuse bead bag charms' and the 'painted animal gift box'.

Another well-done Dover craft book. Step-by-step color photographs accompany each project along with easy-to-follow instructions. A list if items needed to complete the project precedes each one.

Parents and those who prefer (for religious reasons) that their children not make dreamcatchers should note that this is one of the projects in this book.

Older children will be able to follow the instructions without parental help. A book to encourage creativity in children.
