'Puzzle Box, Volume 3' edited by Peter Grabarchuk and Serhiy Grabarchuk is a collection of brain teasers that I found quite challenging.
There are 300 puzzles here (with solutions, if you need them. There are 12 different puzzle creators and 19 different types of puzzle. There are logic puzzles and matchstick puzzles. There are figure folding puzzles and many more.
I had fun looking through this collection and trying a few out. I was able to solve a few, but not all. These are puzzles for those who like their puzzles on the hard side.
I received a review copy of this ebook from Dover Publications and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.
A very good collection of mathematical puzzle for any age. The book has five levels of difficulty. The book will get entertained the reader for hours.
Engaging puzzle book that provides a range of different puzzles across a range of difficulties. Really enjoyable.
This book brought me back to the time when Games magazine existed. In case you don't know what it was, trust me, that is high praise.
A very competent puzzle book, with a lot of depth and challenge, and not like the usual reprints-of-by-rote-tasks-from-newspapers volumes on the newsstands. Many of the puzzles are definitely mathematically minded, which will put some off, as will the overly gaudy design and cramped layout, but for time spent on educational mind-training, this must count as great value - it's a book nobody will speed through in mere minutes.
Puzzle Box, Volume 3 is a nice collection of challenging puzzles, including logic problems, 3D puzzles, Tetromino, numbers puzzles, Mazes, Put-Togethers, and more. The difficulty level ranges from medium to 'Guru' level. The puzzles are packed tightly together, sometimes 5 or more to a page, and all of the solutions are provided in the back of the book.
This would not generally be added to a public library's collection, but I do enjoy these types of puzzles myself, and found it to be a pleasant mix of puzzle type and difficulty.
Overall, a nice selection of difficult puzzles for the puzzle enthusiast.
I’ve had so much fun with the mind puzzles I’ve gotten to work out so far; and looking forward to working my way through the rest of the puzzles in the book. As a high school math teacher, I’m always looking for ways to keep my brain sharp while working with teens who keep me on my toes.
Five stars! If we could give more stars, we would. A puzzle book to challenge and stimulate the brains of children and adults. Difficulty levels are indicated by stars above each puzzle (although the puzzles are not grouped in the book by level). Color illustrations and clear instructions accompany each puzzle. Answers (also illustrated in color) can be found in the back of the book.. Many types of puzzles are included: 3D, folding, logic, mazes, geometric, number, moving pieces and more--nineteen types altogether. *****
