I really enjoyed the surprises and twists. However I found the story to be a bit rushed after that. I felt there could be more development to the after. Still an enjoyable read. 3.5 stars, but I'll round up to 4

Abbi Glines used to be one of my favorite authors. Lately, I have been having a hard time getting through her new books. This one is no exception. I had a rather difficult time getting through this book. It felt that the description, and the blurb did not accurately represent the book itself. The splitting of the book into 2 parts was definitely confusing and not called for. I really struggled getting through this.

I must say this wasn’t what I was expecting, but none the less, it was enjoyable. The story was intriguing and held your attention. The characters were easy to relate to and connect with. Fans of the romance genre will find this very enjoyable!

I have never read an Abbi Glines book but it seems like a lot of people really like her writing. I’ve always considered her to be in a similar box as Colleen Hoover or Jamie Maguire. Fast paced books with drama really do tend to catch my interest. As I am experiencing my summer of reading down the Netgalley queue, As She Fades seemed like a great book to test the Glines waters with. It’s short and on the old Netgalley queue, for starters.

As She Fades is about this girl named Vale who gets into a car accident with her longtime boyfriend Crawford on the night of their high school graduation. And so, in the first half of the book she’s waiting for Crawford to wake up while simultaneously making the choice to start school at Bington college and move forward with her life. There’s this guy named Slate who is at the hospital spending time with his uncle who is there for chemo. Slate is in the same frat as Vale’s brother Knox. Of course, Vale is immensely attracted to Slate. Only, Slate is the love them and leave them type while Vale decidedly is not. Anyways, that’s part one and then things kind of flip on the head for part two. I will say that the official summary about Crawford waking up and not knowing Vale is what we call a crock of shit. It actually does not happen at all in this book.

So, I 100% would not put this book with other young adult books. I think that it is absolutely a new adult book. There’s some explicit sex scenes. I mean, they aren’t badly written by any means. But if you’re going in not expecting that or thinking it will be fade to dark, nope it is not.

Beyond that little warning, this is a quick and easy book to get through. It kind of makes me think of Lurlene McDaniel but with comas and adult situations. I loved the college setting and the first half. However the twist kind of pissed me off. But otherwise, check this out if breezy books with drama are your thing.

I loved this story. I am dying for more... Abbi has a way with her words to really draw you in and you fall in love with her characters in an instant. I am looking forward to the next installment. Bring it on!

This doesn't happen to me often....but I read this back at the end of April and finished on May 10, and forgot to write up a review. 2 months later and my brain is fuzzy but I'm going to try to remember how I felt after finishing this story.

What would you do if the guy you thought was the "one", your future, your world, suddenly is in a tragic car accident that leaves him in a coma? Probably sit vigil for long hours watching and praying and waiting for them to wake up, right? That's exactly what Vale does. She's loyal and consistent. Honestly though, she doesn't seem like she has much of an identity outside of who she was as a couple with Crawford. Her childhood bestfriend turned boyfriend. Everything they did was "their plan", including the college they were going to. I couldn't help but be a little frustrated at Vale's lack of independence. Though I could understand her sorrow and hope for Crawford to wake up, it was equally disappointing to see her so lost without him. She didn't even know who she was, what she really liked and didn't like or what she really wanted at the age of 18. A chance meeting with Slate Allen in the hospital, poster boy for your typical college frat boy, awakens things within her that she didn't know she was capable of. She had been "comfortable" with Crawford. She didn't have to really try with Crawford nor did he make her feel so much. It's really her connection with Slate that makes this story come alive.

I always enjoy Abbi's stories. They're typically fast reads and aren't super heavy which means I can enjoy the journey without feeling drained at the end to the point of needing a break. I appreciate those type of books in my reading repertoire.

One thing I always appreciate in a story is a good plot twist. This has that and I didn't see it coming. So kudos for that to the author!

As She Fades is an awesome standalone YA romance. How would you live if you're in an accident with your boyfriend and he's now in a coma? Vale needs to make that decision.
The writing is so good and will suck you into the story. I couldn't put this book down. I had to know what was going to happen next.

As She Fades by Abbi Glines was only about 50% what the blurb says it is. Yes, there was an accident, and the first half or so follows the blurb, but then it completely changes. It was like a bait and switch book, but once I got used to the new direction, I was actually pretty happy with it...for the most part. During the first half, I really didn't like Slate too much at all, and I have no idea why Vale would have even been tempted by him. Sure he cared for certain people, but his goodness pretty much stopped there. During the second half, he was more like the Slate I hoped he'd be. Sure, he was still a man-whore, but we get more insight into him as a person. This story felt different from other Abbi Glines' books I've read. She's a favorite of mine. Her characters are always believable and real. And though this one was odd and almost felt like a different author wrote the whole first half, I still couldn't put it down.

I have read a few of Abbi Glines books and was really surprised and happy to receive an advanced copy of “As She Fades”.

It took me a while to get into this book. It was a good story and you could feel the love...but then the twist or book 2 happened. Did not expect it and don’t think it was needed. It seemed rushed at the end. Don’t think I’ll recommend this one, sorry!

I received this ebook from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

Unfortunately this was not my favorite romance. I'm not even a huge fan of romance, but I do enjoy Abbi's writing. This one didn't hit the mark for me; it didn't even really hit the mark for the synopsis which surprised me. I won't be passing a recommendation along for this one.

Oh my and wow. What a unique book. I loved the premise and the characters.. I loved the growth and change. And the twist? What?? I am usually pretty good at seeing that kind is stuff coming but I never anticipated what happened in this book. It was a wonderful and perfect twist! Readers will not be able to put it down once they realize hats really going on. No one who reads this book will forget it!

I have loved every other title that I have read by Abbi Glines. That being said I am really disappointed in this one. I wanted to like it so much, I really did. It felt like the author couldn't decide on an ending and so essentially gave us two. I fell in love with the first half of the book and then to find out, oh wait, just kidding, that's not really the story and those characters aren't actually real. It was like a kick in the gut and I'll be honest it just made me a little angry. It makes me very sad to say that most likely won't be purchasing or recommending.

Strong romance option and honestly deals with issues of prejudice and family life. This is a timely topic and is a more thought provoking addition to the "forbidden romance" genre.

This was my first read by Abbi Glines and it did not disappoint! As She Fades has me hooked from the first chapter, always wanting more and wanting to find out what happens next. It was very well written!

I love when Abbi Glines writes young adult. I really enjoyed this romance and definitely wasn't expecting that twist. I would definitely recommend!

First, I must point out that the blurb doesn't match what actually happens in the book.

The story revolves around Vale, who has been in a long-term relationship with Crawford. Their perfect plan for the future comes to a halt when they are involved in a car accident leaving Crawford in a coma. Vale spends her summer visiting every day and it's during those visits she meets Slate, who is there visiting his uncle. Now that college is about to start, Vale makes the decision to go. There she becomes close to Slate and starts a new life. But then the unthinkable happens, Crawford wakes up...

Part one had me in love, I was head over heels for this story and the characters. It was lighting fireworks off in my head. However, when part two rolled around, I wanted to cry out in frustration. That big twist was not necessary and the rest of it was just rushed. It brought nothing to the plot and just complicated everything.

I would gladly recommend part one to everyone, I mean that part is well worth the read. Just maybe don't read part two.

I was a little surprised by the graphic nature of a few scenes in this book. It gives me pause, as well as the "coma events" trope. Characterization is shallow

Thanks for Netgalley and Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group for the ARC. Here is the thing I have read quite a few other books by Abbi Glines. Some I absolutely loved and others were so-so. But still always up for giving her books a try as I genuinely enjoy her writing.

That said was so happy to receive the advanced copy of her latest YA novel with the story of Vale McKinley. See Vale and her boyfriend, Crawford were apparently in a pretty bad car accident the night of their high school graduation. This accident supposedly left Crawford in a coma, while Vale survives only to visit him daily, never leaving his side.

However, Vale is convinced as the summer continues to give college a try and leave Crawford. hoping he will eventually wake. Her heart still feels for Crawford. But at college, she is drawn to her brother Knox’s frat brother, Slate Allen. Slate is apparently a ladies man and major player. Still the two somehow are drawn to each.

There are two parts to this book. Without giving away the story here, as the first part draws to a close we are to believe that the story is going in one direction. But as part two open nothing is at it appeared in the first part after all. And just when you think you knew where things were indeed headed all of that is turned upside down.

I will say this, I am still not sure how I felt about said twist. On one hand I think it was clever to an extent. But on the other, I felt a bit let down that all I had read in part one was not as it looked to myself, the reader.

Still I wanted so much to give part two a chance to see the book through. While I think I get the reasoning behind the author switching it up, I still have some doubts and reservations even after having finished this book. I would still recommend. But I would give the reader the insight to make their own conclusions about the story and twist here, as well.

Vale McKinley and her boyfriend Crawford have been together since they were six years old. On the night of their high school graduation they are in a terrible car accident that leaves one of them in a coma. The other does their best to visit everyday, but college is just around the corner and they have to make the decision to either move on together or apart. Vale comes from a large family and their support is very important to her. People come in and out Vale and Crawford's lives as they try to deal with the circumstances they are under. The most notable is Slate Allan, a friend to Vale's brother, Knox, whose reputation is not the most desirable. He reads sports magazines and has a heart of gold. Will Vale and Crawford be able to move forward together or is their life better apart?

Thank you to NetGalley and Feiwel & Friends for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Let me say, this book held my attention from the very beginning. Vale is a very interesting character and you immediately want to be her friend and a part of her family. I read this book in 2 days. Wherever I went, I was reading it. There was a huge twist a little more than half way through the book, that made me yell and curse!!

This is a YA Romance book. The characters are all 21 or under and it made me feel a bit nostalgic. Took my back to my college days with roommates and friends all over campus. How much life changes when you get to college.

Vale and Crawford have a lot on their plates. The accident has changed them and made Vale, especially think about her life with and without Crawford. Everything has always been the way he wanted, even the college they both decided to go to was his idea. It's not too bad, though because her brother is there too.

Will this relationship last? Will the past 12 years of their life come to an end after this accident? Will they be able to push through and continue the relationship through college? Will Slate Allan be able to prove to the world what a great guy he is or will his reputation as a playboy be all that anyone will see?

This is the first book I have read by Abbi Glines, but it will not be my last. This book held and kept my attention from the very start until THE END!!

I have read several of Glines' books, and liked them. I thought this book had lots of potential after reading the synopsis, but unfortunately it just fell flat for me. I ended up not finishing it, because the main character talks about almost nothing other than her boyfriend. Obviously, I know his situation is sad and bleak, but Vale really got on my nerves. The characters were very 2D to me, they seemed to have no depth, and I couldn't relate to anyone.
