I received this book from netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion. I really liked this book, I'm glad that I got the chance to read this! I just wish that what was a dream was more obvious. Once I got to part 2 I was pretty confused for several pages.

This, book is written as two novelas. I think that my students might enjoy it, but I found it hard to finish.

Abbi Glines knows what she is doing, and she does it well. As She Fades is no exception! I flew through this book in hours, devouring the romance between notorious player Slate Allen and Vale. And the TWIST!!!!! Did not see it coming at all! Loved this one!

I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll be general here. Really boring, one dimensional, and just overall silly.

As She Fades is a wonderful, lovely read for teens and new adults. Vale is a mess of feelings, emotions, and uncertainty. Slate is dynamic and the perfect catalyst to propel Vale into a self-confident, fun-loving woman. With a major twist half-way through, this is an exciting romance and foray into friendship and self.

After reading the other reviews, I am glad I gave up on this book before the "major plot twist". It wouldn't have made sense to me and would have made the time I put into reading that much less worthwhile. I found the one-note main character very hard to relate to.

I have enjoyed other books by this author, but the characters were not as three-dimensional as I would have liked. I can see how this book will be popular among my teens; however, the "twist" confused me. I also thought the description of the book did not quite match the finished product. Despite my misgivings, I do look forward to future books by this author.

****Some Spoilers follow****

OK story but did not understand the 2 halves of the book. It was as if the author thought of 2 different ways to tell a story and couldn't decide which way to go so did both.

The book starts with Vale and her boyfriend in a car accident. He is left in a coma. Vale struggles to get on with her life but finally does, ends up going away to college, meeting someone new and starts a new relationship. The second half has Vale waking up. She was the one that was actually in a coma. Her boyfriend has gone on with his life just like she did in the first half of the book but all of a sudden he is the bad guy?!? She meets the same new someone and falls in love.

No reconciliation from the first to the second half of the book.

**3.75 Stars!**

When I first started reading this book, I felt like everything was very rushed. I liked the storyline and I liked the characters a lot actually.

Vale was any of us that experienced "young love". She went to the hospital every single day and sat in the waiting room until it was her time to go in to visit Crawford. I know some people had an issue with it, but if it were my husband or boyfriend, I would have done the same thing. ESPECIALLY for the first month following the accident. She completely compromised herself when it came to her relationship with Crawford and didn't even know she was doing it. I liked that the realization came to her and she decided to do something about it. I can honestly say, I didn't "find myself" until I was in college either. Like I said before, her finding herself seemed to happen quickly and months passed in the blink of an eye (or the turn of a chapter, you could say). I was really irked by this, until Part TWO. I can't say much about it, but it also was a little rushed, but so so good.

Slate was a great guy. He, too, was finding himself and growing up. I was so sad for him with his Uncle being sick and all. I loved Vale's support for him and I liked the development of their relationship. We got to see him be the bad boy player, while also getting to see him become the sweetheart that we know he is capable of being.

Overall, I do recommend this book. It was on a solid journey to 3 stars at first (which for me means "I like it"), but then it really picked up. I have never read anything by Abbi Glines before, so I can say without a doubt that this is an unbiased, honest review. I'll definitely be looking up other books by her.

Actual stars 3.5.
I really wanted to love this. I loved the first part of the story, and then PLOT TWIST. And then I less loved the second half of it. I felt duped
From the synopsis: "Then, Crawford wakes up… with no memory of Vale or their relationship. Heartbroken, Vale opts to leave for college and move on with her life. Except now, she’s in Slate’s territory, and their story is about to take a very strange detour." UH...that didn't happen. I wanted that to happen. I would have rather that happened instead of how it went.
I think it would be beneficial to change the synopsis to match the story.
I loved the characters, I loved the idea of the story. The execution just wasn't there.

This was a really good Abbi Glines read. I was not expecting part 2 to have that twist. Although it was NA I really enjoyed it. There wasn’t no over the top childishness. Everything flowed together perfectly. Vale, I just love her she was loyal to a fault and she didn’t put up with any of Slate’s crap. If he wanted to be with other girls then so be it because he wasn’t gonna be with her also. I felt for Slate with everything he was going through with his uncle. I loved how Vale and her family rallied behind him and became a family to him as well. I didn’t like the ending with the last few chapters. I understood the point but I felt we could at least had an epilogue. The book just “ended” and I was disappointed because I wanted more! And that Epilogue would have wrapped it up for me. Great book and thanks again for the opportunity!

Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC! This book did have some good points. I liked to see the main character come into her own and decide not to live for someone else. Too many teenagers do that! I also liked the family relationship and Slate’s Uncle. The twist wa unexpected but interesting.
The thinks I didn’t like, sadly outweighed the things I did. It had way too much sexy time for a YA book. I still don’t feel like there needs to be so much description of it, & I was annoyed she was surprised and impressed the boy thought of protection when it wasn’t on her mind. Please make the girls more responsible!
Also, I just didn’t find it very believable at times. Would these relationships form like that out of thin air? Seemed like it was full or shallow friendships and relationships. Petty issue: Why did everyone have unusual names? Sometimes I feel like authors try too hard to be original; it’s not realistic.
I was interested enough to give it 2 stars, but it’s not something I’d recommend to teens I work with. It had graphic sexua situations and profanity, just FYI.

What a great book! Full of twists and surprises as the story develops. Vale and her boyfriend are in an accident the very first pages of the book, which lead to her boyfriend being in a coma. Vale has to find a way to deal with the stress of her situation and she finds herself basically living at the hospital. While there she meets Sate, who is a fraternity brother to one of her older brothers. Slate is not someone she ever expected to become friends with, but as she gets to know him she realizes that she has more to learn about others than she realized. The romance and relationships between the characters in the story are very well done. I loved watching them develop and change through the twists and turns this book talk. Things happened but I didn't see coming at all and I adored it! This is definitely a book for more advanced ya readers. Thank you netgalley for an Arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
