"The Way Back to Us" is a good fit for readers who enjoy stories about second chances, overcoming past heartbreaks, and finding love in the most unexpected places.

I love reading new to me authors and getting acquainted with Jamie Howards work was a joy! The music/rock romance trope is one I always reaaaally enjoy as well as a second-chance romance so I was excited to get my hands on this e-arc and find out how well written this combination was in this story.

Especially Gavin’s character was beautifully written I think. You just feel for the guy and hope for his happily ever after. He also loves his family and his friends Fiercely, and that is a beautiful quality to have, don’t you think? I love it when that’s so prominently present. Did feel a bit less towards Dani, although she was likeable enough. But I just loved Gavin as a character so much more haha.

The friendships present in the book is what partly had me excited as well and has me looking forward to also read the other books in this series! I definitely recommend picking up this book when you love romance, and especially second-chance romance and music/rock romance.

I decided not to finish this book because I didn't feel a strong connection to the story or characters. I will not be rating it or writing a full review, but I appreciate the opportunity.

Excellent writing, hot sex scenes, and an interesting plot that hasn't been done a thousand times. Highly recommended.

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

So this cover? It definitely does not give the right vibe for this novel! It looks all light hearted and easy-go-lucky, but this is actually a dark book. Full of mystery, twists-and-turns, and surprises. Doesn't mean I didn't like it, but I was just surprised at the turn that this book took and how I was not prepared for it at all!

I really liked Dani. She's had a hard life, and after being told the truth about everything she thought she knew, she took it in stride and tried to fix all of the problems that have happened. Her and Gavin together was adorable and heartbreaking all at the same time.

I'm glad I got a chance to read this novel and I'm intrigued about the last pair of this group... I may have to find the next book and see how that pans out in the end!

This was a really great story that I enjoyed! There were a few aspects that disappointed me, but overall it was a great read.

The Way Back to Us is just another piece of the puzzle. It can be read as a stand alone but why when it's so much fun to get to know this group. I have actually enjoyed being along for the ride through the entire series and I will hold on clinging to the last word...

The Way Back to Us is Gavin's story. You may remember the abrupt exit from the Gala in book two. The red head causing him to ghost. Well, you learn a whole lot more about her in this book.

Everything they thought they wanted is going to drive them crazy. All the unanswered questions...All the uncertainties. One thing they are both fighting...love.

I'm happy to see Gavin is feeling but it's tough to see him hurting. Now I just need Ben to pull his head out of his butt and I will be content.

Loved this story! This author knows how to get her readers lost in her stories with the way she writes out the dialogue and builds the story.

I haven't read any of the prior books in the series and that might have impacted how I viewed this book. I liked things about it, but wish I had read the first two books prior to reading this one.

This is the third book in the series and I'm kind of coming in late but that doesn't matter because you don't have to read the first two to understand the storyline in this book. My issue with this book was that I really did it backwards and read the third book first and that's on me. I loved Gavin in this and his undying love for Dani but I just don't know if I felt the love that Dani had for Gavin in the same way. As far as second chance romances go - this was a pretty good one and I'm a sucker for second chance romance. I think I would have liked it more if it had an epilogue and showed what happened a couple years down the road....everything just felt rushed and unfinished for me.

I haven't read any of the previous books in this series, but it didn't hamper my understanding of the gist of The Way Back to Us.

Back in college, Gavin found his soulmate, and his love was a beautiful thing until he came back to his dorm and a note from saying simply "I'm sorry." Ouch. And yet, when he sees Dani years later, it's as if his feelings never left him, weren't lying dormant in his heart. He knew he had to have her in his life again, or at the very least, get some closure as to why she had run out on their love.

Normally second chances are one of my favorite kinds of romances, but here in The Way Back to Us, I felt a bit short rifted, mostly because of Dani. I never warmed up to her. She was cold and distant throughout most of the story, never opening herself up to anyone, not to Gavin and not to the reader. I loved Gavin, though. He's all kinds of sweet and his love is the strongest kind that we all want for ourselves. I felt as if Dani wasn't good enough for him, didn't deserve his steadfast love. It's why I had to 3 star this instead of 4. Aside from Dani's character, though, I did like this one. It's well-written, there's a bit of suspense, and Gavin is a sweet, swoon worthy hero.

Thank you for letting me read this book. i just didnt finish this book, im sorry.
I really tried but I didnt get sucked into the story like I want to with every book I read. Also, I thought the writing was a bit off and constantly moving to fast forward without really getting into the story. Therefore I didnt get the story which made me quit.

I must say, I really like the cover which made me sign up for a copy.

Dani and Gavin had a history together until she disappeared without a trace and only a note to say good-bye. Gavin had wondered for years what would have caused her to disappear. He had loved her and told her how much he loved her. Dani had never said those words to him so she must not have loved him the same way he had her.

Then one day at a charity function, there she was. His Dani was back! He knew he should stay away but he couldn't seem to stop thinking about her and wanting her in his life. He had family, success, money and lots of good friends but he was still missing something. That something was her -- he had never gotten over the loss and knew he could get burned again but he had to try even if he only had her in his life for a little while.

Dani had been running for most of her life. She lived a dangerous life and never wanted Gavin to get hurt so she kept her distance but she really wanted him in her life. Was that even possible knowing that she would have to disappear again and hurt him all over again? Would she ever be able to stop running? Would they ever be able to find their way back to each other again?

I enjoyed this story. Gavin had wonderful and supportive friend. They obviously were closed and cared deeply about one another. My one HUGE criticism of the book were the constant f-bombs. I know that some people use that in their daily language. I am not one of those people and I find it offensive and for that reason I wouldn't recommend the book to friends of mine.

I was given an arc copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

First, I have to confess that I started this with no idea that it was part of a saga. Surprisingly, I didn't really feel like I missed on a lot, so it felt like a standalone.
Second, Gav was cute, in the messed up kind of way, and he was waay too good for her. Why? because she seemed like a b**** more than half of the book. The act went on a bit too long for the plot to be realistic.
Best thing about the book? The band and THAT PLOT TWIST. No aclarations needed.

Surprisingly, The Way Back to Us managed to entertain me. There is mystery and suspense integrated in this rockstar romance, which is a big plus for me. For those who do not know, I really am into mysteries and thrillers more than YA or fantasy. I blame John Grisham for my fascination with action-themed books and Sidney Sheldon for the mysteries that I’ve always loved dissecting and solving.

When the female lead character of The Way Back To Us presented herself with danger and questions about her past and present situation, I knew I would get hooked. Plus, there’s the added bonus of rockstar (rockstars, plural!) who know how to make music and let music worm its way to the heart of its beloved. End result – me swooning and sweating with anticipation!

Gavin had never forgotten about Dani, the one who got away. It didn’t matter that she left him without saying goodbye nor explanation. When they encountered each other again, Dani was different, but their feelings only intensified, however they denied it. But Dani’s past and dangerous secret was what’s keeping them from having the normal relationship they dreamt about.

The first book I read of Jamie Howard was The Feeling of Forever, featuring a hollywood actress and a rockstar on wheels. I liked it much, so I had set my heart out when I read this latest book in the series. The male lead character, Gavin, was too good to be true. He’s hot, his muscles are taut and he’s got a really loyal heart and he even adopted a dog.. awww.. Plus, he liked going to “Hogwarts” and quoted Liam Neeson so I’m giving him extra bonus points.

Dani, on the other hand, kept it all within herself, and it irked me that she was too stubborn in hiding her secret. I understand that this secret could kill her or destroy Gavin, but I thought she could have been more understanding with his feelings. After all, it might just be what she needed to release the burden she’d been keeping inside. Somehow, their feelings had me feeling a little low.

But when the action and nerve-wracking chase happened at the latter part of the story; from then on, I knew I could no longer let go of the book.

In the end, the story did surprise me and got me blown away. Jamie Howard managed to steal my breath. But still, I felt like there’s something else missing and I can’t wait to get it on the next book. Yay!!! As usual, the author’s writing was great and effortlessly engaging. Would love to delve into her other bodies of work soon!

I hoped this book would be more enjoyable than book 2 which was the first book I read by this author. That’s why I decided to give this try. But unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I mean, it had its moments and the romance was the saving grace of this book.

For Gavin, Dani Winters was the one for him. But one day without any goodbye she disappears from his life leaving him shattered. After years, they come face to face with each other and realises their feelings for each other are still buried within. But Dani is still running from her demons. This might be their last chance to build something together or let go forever.

The thing is, the plot was waaay too common. I have read a number of books where the heroine is facing some extreme danger yet some simple communication would uncomplicate the matter but she decides to stay silent throughout the whole book until the end where a solution magically appears. *sighs* This plot has been overused so many times, it simply has lost its charm.

Though I have to say I didn’t see the plot twist coming just before it got revealed. But everything was too anti-climactic. I mean, it the story was following a certain pace but I felt the ending was too rushed and everything just happened all at once. It just didn’t make much sense to leave it like that, it would definitely have been better if some more explanations would have been given for the reason it happened and why it happened. I really wanted the backstory.

Anyway, the characters were the ones who did not let me put the book down. Gavin never got over Dani, for him she was everything and after she suddenly disappeared from his life, he stopped believing in love. A cliche, I know. Though I felt bad for the guy. He never gave up. Dani was a mysterious woman but everything could have been solved as a team but she chose to run away instead. But there were moments which made everything perfectly clear how much she still cared for him. The chemistry between them was electric but I wished there was more plot development.

Overall, The Way Back to Us was an okay read. Although the plot was cliched, I enjoyed the characters and the romance. The writing was smooth and easy to read.

Recommend it?

Maybe.
