Author Anna Harrington does an outstanding job with her scenic descriptions and vivid portrayal of the deep emotions within Arabel and Garrick towards what happened in their past and how they feel about each other in the present.

Garrick is a standout character for how his caring loving younger self matures through the pain of losing Arabel to his present day hard unemotional self who only desires revenge. This was handled with distinction and the reader will journey with Garrick as he once again unwillingly changes.

I would like to say that Arabel did the right thing in the very beginning, but I can't. I would have liked her to be stronger and to love more faithfully. But to be honestly she did as was expected in her time and once again watching her change from a girl into a woman was rewarding as all her emotions were displayed for us to feel on every page of this book.

It is interesting how the family dynamics come to play in this book and I did appreciate how they were woven into the storyline to further explain the rift that was caused in the past between Arabel and Garrick.

I give this 4 STARS for showing that even a traumatic past can bring about a wondrous ending.

This is Arabel and Garrick’s story. He was poor and seas the laird’s niece. She chose her family over him. He was was taken away and left to fend for himself. He harbored a lot of hatred towards her family. Ten years later she was engaged to someone else. He was an English Earl. Arabel’s uncle dies and leaves his clan home to Arabel and Garrick equally. They walk gingerly around each other but true love wins out. The story kept me so in grossed I read it in one sitting.

This book is a fun, quick read! It begins with a teenage boy forced to make a tough decision in a hurry. Garrick's decision ends up leaving him and his love, Arabel, very bitter at each other. When they meet 10 years later to claim a joint inheritance, they must look at past mistakes, and make a decision about their future. This book was previously published in the Say Yes To the Scot anthology.

I received this book from no charge from the publisher

A match made in heather is a stand-alone novella by Anna Harrington. It's a second chance romance, but very enjoyable to me which was a surprise. Both, Arabel and Garrick are hang up on some parts of their past which are brought up very often, but in my opinion, it worked out without making this short story heavy because some things needed to be said. The story had a good flow and the pace was the one this novella needed to work out. In this novella, we don't have many characters appearing and it's mainly Arabel and Garrick. That is not a bad thing though. I liked both of them. I understood their motives and what was driving them to do what they did or why the reacted in a certain way. I wouldn't have minded if this novella was a little bit longer. I enjoyed it very much and I wanted an epilogue a couple of years later, just seeing them together in Highburn with a couple of children being happy and in love.

Wow, I did not realize that this book was part of the anthology, Say Yes to the Scot, and as I read this book I felt like I was going crazy because this book sounded so familiar!

You cannot help but feel for both Arabel and Garrick as their carefully plotted future was ripped away from them and they both thought the other changed their mind and left.

I really felt for Garrick who had the worst part of the two as he was beat so badly that he could not go the new job he had and was forced to scrounge to keep alive.

Arabel still kept such an attachment to her family who only seemed to use her and I wished she could have put Garrick ahead of her selfish family but eventually all things worked out.

There was a large amount of emotion and Arabel and Garrick had years of pain to overcome so it was a process to watch them work out their issues.

Loved this story - even the second time reading it!!

Two young lovers plan to elope - one the niece of the landowner, the other a stable boy. When scandal strikes her family she begs him to wait to marry but he must leave now or lose the job waiting for him. Instead he is beaten on the orders of the her family and she never knew.
Anna Harrington does a wonderful job of bringing the two back together and using an aunt to help the romance along while they must both share ownership of the estate where it all happened. If either leaves before the 30 days are up, they forfeit their half of the property.
As the two come together, they find that neither has stopped loving the other but can they overcome the past events to get to their Happily Ever After?

I loved this story by Anna Harrington! Her historicals are filled with plenty of history, fashion, tension and love for all to enjoy.
Garrick McGuiness and Arabel Rowland's love wasn't strong enough to keep them together when dealing with family scandal, responsibility and the fact that he was a nameless and penniless Scot with no job in which to support her with.
Years later he has the money, the title and the best way to take revenge on her family for sending him away, but in doing so what will become of Arabel and the love that they still have for each other?

Hot Scot and awesome uncle :)

First, who doesn't just love an awesome uncle? Garrick and Arabel were done a huge disservice when they were younger so they have old hurts to overcome and things aren't too promising in the beginning.
This is a quick read, but a wonderful, entertaining story with a heavy.

Arabel is the laird’s daughter who always has to do what her family wants to preserve the status and honor of the Rowlands.
Garrick is the blacksmith’s son and he has nothing to offer Arabel but his love.
A touching story about two people feeling deeply in love with each other and falling apart because of a scandal.
I like how Anna Harrington writes. You go along hand in hand with the characters feeling what they feel; love, anguish, pain, loneliness, emotion.

This is a fast paced second change romance. Garrick and Arabel were set to elope when tragedy struck and she decided to stay with her family. Now years later Garrick is a soldier and a hero who has gained an earldom when a bequest from her uncle places them together will sparks fly again? Great characters with steamy chemistry. The story holds your interest throughout. I really liked it.

What’s it About? When they were young and madly in love, Garrick McGuiness and Arabel Rowland planned to elope except at the last minute Arabel cried off without telling Garrick why. Furious and brokenhearted he left her and Scotland behind. Ten years later Arabel has inherited her ancestral home, Castle Highburn but there’s a slight problem, Garrick is back and is the co-inheritor of the Castle. And while Arable remembers him as a groom in her uncle’s stables, he is now Lord Townsend, rich, and determined to take Castle Highburn away from Arabel. The will states that the two MUST live together in the castle for a period of one month and in that month Garrick and Arabel will have to face the past and the reasons why they didn’t run off with each other.

Overall reaction to the story? As short as it was, A Match Made in Heather brought a lot of heat and heart with its second chance romance between a former groomsman and a highborn lady. Garrick and Arabel were such an angst filled couple, each hurting from what they assumed was the other’s lack of love. I loved that angst, it made for a very passionate love story. Garrick and Arabel were both stubborn but still desperately in love with one another and the circumstances that the will created gave them the perfect opportunity to remember why they fell in love in the first place.

I liked both Garrick and Arabel, they were headstrong and intelligent but sometimes Arabel’s refusal to stand up to her family annoyed me. Other than that these two were a delight.

A Match Made in Heather is an emotional second chance at love for Arabel and Garrick. The wealthy laird's daughter and the son of a blacksmith were never intender to fall in love but they did. Their plans to elope come to a crashing halt when Arabel decides she must stay to help her family. Harsh words are said and hearts are broken. Fast forward and years later the two are drawn together once again. Can these two overcome the pain and heartbreak of the past to finally get a HEA? Read this charming and entertaining book to find out. Packed with angst, drama, betrayal and passion this is an immensely enjoyable read.

3.5 Stars

When Arabel Rowland was just eighteen, she fell in love with Garrick McGuiness, the son of a blacksmith. Because her wealthy, highborn family will never approve a match between the two, they plan to elope. Garrick has just been hired as a head groom, and they need to leave today in order for him to arrive at his new position, and allow time for them to marry. Yet, on this very day, Arabel receives some tragic family news, and she chooses to remain. Garrick not only has to endure having his heart broken, but his body as well, since the estate agent was instructed to have him badly beaten before he leaves. It seems their secret romance was not to secret after all.

In the following ten years, there has been a reversal of fortune for both Arabel and Garrick. He became a soldier and a hero, and was awarded an earldom. He has also lived a rakish life, intent on forgetting how his fist love rejected him. Arabel's family, on the other hand, has lost their fortune, and have suffered scandal. Arabel never married, though she is now engaged to a banker she doesn't love. A surprising bequest from her deceased uncle brings her face to face with Garrick. It seems that in an attempt to make amends for meddling in their love affair years ago, and for having Garrick beaten, Arabel's uncle has left Highburn Castle equally to both of them, stipulating that they both must live there for thirty days before any action can be taken. If either fails, the whole castle reverts to the other party.

Garrick is only too eager to take up the challenge, as he's never forgiven Arabel for putting her family ahead of him. Arabel is eager to claim some property and try to restore her family to prosperity and respectability. As old hurts come to the surface, along with anger and bitterness, two very stubborn people find that they are again falling in love. I began to despair of this couple ever forgiving each other or having a future together, but love does conquer all in A MATCH MADE IN HEATHER.
