I love a good romance story, one with Cowboys is always nice. I love the setting and the premise of two horse lovers coming together to save a wild horse from being put down. Working together to train the horse, brought them together while also butting heads.
My problem with this began towards the end, it was rather cliche and done so many times it didn't feel original or authentic. I like the Happily Ever After so overall it was ok for me.
Unfortunately the book was not for me, no review was publicly posted on Amazon, B&N, Goodreads or Twitter etc, so no ratings were affected in relation to it.
I have had reasonable success with this authors work in the past but this book just lacked on so many levels. I found there to be little chemistry or connection between the H/h and the story had moved on very little by the time I stopped reading at around the halfway mark.
I enjoyed most of the books in the previous series about the King family, but for me this was a poor start to what I was hoping would be another enjoyable series from this author.

Cowboy Stole My Heart is a lovely start to the new series, River Ranch by author Soraya Lane.
I found the storyline easy to follow, it was a slow burn romance that held my interest all throughout the book.
The characters were strong willed, stubborn and very relatable. I especially liked Mia, she was passionate and didn't let people walk over her.
Sam took a little more time for me to connect with. He was closed off and very quick to judge Mia. I enjoyed watching him back track a few times when he saw past the wealth and his stubbornness to see the real woman.
It warmed my heart watching them fall in love, these two totally earned their HEA.
Overall, Cowboy Stole My Heart is a quick, emotional and heartfelt read and I highly recommend this book.
Looking forward to Tanner's book next in All Night with the Cowboy coming May 29th 2018.

Mia and Sam come from completely different backgrounds, and their initial meeting starts off with misconceptions on both sides. But as they work together, they discover just how much they have in common. Sam is one sexy cowboy right from the start, and Mia is a little firecracker who won't be pushed around. Their undeniable chemistry leads to a no-strings-attached relationship, until those strings - in the form of feelings - start to grow despite the risks to their hearts. Sam, admittedly, has a lot of emotional baggage to work through, and I thought Mia could have been a little more understanding and a little less ready to jump to conclusions but eventually they (and the reader) get their HEA.
I loved the work with the horses, and the author did a beautiful job of showing how not everyone is what their background might stereotype them as. The extended family characters are exceptionally well-done, and the story is highly entertaining all the way through. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book through NetGalley
Cowboy Stole My Heart by new to me author Soraya Lane, is an entertaining read. This western themed romance is replete with cowboys, horses and hardworking Texans. This is the first book from the author's River Ranch series and it can be enjoyed as a standalone.
Mia Ford is a very wealthy young woman, yet she is able to keep her wits about her and takes nothing for granted. Her love of horses led her to a career in competitive riding, in addition to managing the stable on her family's ranch. When she becomes the owner of her late best friend's horse, she is emotional, sad, and unable to use her expertise to tame him. Luckily, her Dad is able to hire the area's best horse whisperer, Sam Mendes, but Mia has her doubts about his ability to be successful with such an emotionally damaged animal. Mia has crushed on Sam for years and now she is basically his boss.
Sam loves horses, especially those that do not want to listen or be trained for bigger and better opportunities. Mia's horse is a real challenge, however, he believes he can help him. At first, Sam finds Mia's presence to be a hindrance, as well as an attractive distraction. However, overtime, they learn to deal with each other and evolve their working relationship into much more.
This is a nicely-written story with two main characters that are genuine and very talented in their chosen professions. Mia's ability to trust Sam is a slow process, but his professionalism, good-looks and expertise eventually win her over. If you are in the mood for a hot romance on the ranch, than pick up a copy of this book.

Cowboy Stole My Heart starts of a brand-new series, River Ranch, by Soraya Lane with an “enemies to lovers” story. Misconceptions, stubbornness, and a crush that was bound to be shattered are all par for the course as Sam and Mia ride the bumpy trail to true love.
The book builds the ranch setting and supporting characters are flesh out as Mia and Sam along with the troubled horse have their story. For some this may seem a bit slow but for me I like having the setting and characters given life in a new series as I met them for the first time. The writing is convincing with realistically imperfect characters. Wonderful start to the series, with me looking forward to more.
What a beautiful story of overcoming past hurts and perceptions in order to be able to love and be loved. The relationship between Mia Ford and Sam Mendes felt so real that you keep hoping Sam can just get through his hurt from a broken engagement and see the love that Mia has to offer him. The story around the horse, Tex was really interesting too as Sam, the horse whisperer, works to try to break through to find out what happened to Tex. I really liked the strong female lead in this story. This is the first book in this new series and I cannot wait for the next book to come out in June. This is also the first book I have read by Soraya Lane but it will not be my last! I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
This is the first book in a new series - and I loved it! I can’t wait to read more in this heartwarming series.
Mia Ford is a hard working, determined young lady and not the pampered princess that Sam Mendes initially assumed. He’s a horse whisperer and has been called in by her father to try to help a stallion that is proving too much to handle, despite previously being a talented show jumper. Despite many inaccurate negative assumptions, the two humans are drawn to each other as they strive to rehabilitate the horse.
This is a delightful, well-written, emotional story of love helping heal heartbreak and more. It has great human and animal characters who are brought vividly to life within the pages of the story. It is a tale of following your heart and daring to dream, a journey of discovery with love and redemption as the end goal. I look forward to reading more in this series and have no hesitation in recommending this story to anyone who enjoys emotive cowboy romances.
I requested and received a copy of this novel, via NetGalley. This is my honest review after choosing to read it.
Great debut to the River Ranch series by new-to-me author Soraya Lane. This is a well-crafted contemporary western romance with relatable characters who jump right out of the book and into your heart. I loved the chemistry, dynamic and heartwarming love story between professional horse show jumper Mia Ford and horse whisperer Sam Mendes.
As soon as I started reading, I knew I wouldn't be able to put this must-read book down until I read the last word. I was so involved in all that was happening, I was sad when the book ended and look forward to reading more by this talented author.
I received a free advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my unbiased review.
3 1/2 stars. I really enjoyed this story. When Sam a well know horse whisper is ask to help with Mia's horse. He assumes she is a pampered princess and she isn't real happy with him. When he realizes she is a great horsewomen in her own rights, he ask if they can start over. When the attraction between thing becomes stronger, they decide to have a fling. Sam has been hurt in the past and he is never going to let another women in his heart. Mia would love to have a relationship but keeps finding duds... Sam could be the one but she knows its just for fun. The backstory for the horse was heartbreaking and a couple of twist and turns made for an interesting ending. I would have liked a lot more groveling from our hero. Mia gave in a little easily for me.
This first book for me written by Soraya Lane was a winner. She wrote two characters, Mia and Sam, who really had a significant dislike for each other at first. This western romance may not have had romantic fireworks at first, but the slow build up was totally worth it. No impressions were overturned immediately. They took their time changing their minds about each other and being willing to act on their attraction for each other. Sam was burned pretty badly in a previous relationship and is determined that he will never give his heart away to another conniving woman. Mia is okay with a relationship that has no depth...until she isn't. Will Sam learn to trust himself and Mia, or will he turn tail and run?
I loved the evolution of the two characters, the setting of the book and the understanding Sam had to help Mia's injured and traumatized horse. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next in the series.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley.
Sam Mendes, the famous Horse Whisperer, is hired by Walter Ford to take care of a wild stallion of his daughter, Mia.
Tex was a wonderful stallion, and champion. It belonged to Mia's best friend, Kimberley. But after an accident at a performance that killed Kimberley, her family sold all her horses. Tex was never the same again.
When meeting the animal, Sam is not sure if he could save him. It was a challenge he was willing to accept.
Sam was very good at what he did. He was traveling around the country giving lectures on the subject, especially after he had released a book.
But apart from Tex, Sam is also impressed by its owner, Mia.
She was a show jumper and won several awards.
She wanted to save Tex, as a promise to her friend.
Her attraction to Sam is immediate. But she was Sam's boss.
The two would have to know how to work together if they wanted to succeed with the stallion. As the feeling between them grew, certain past behaviors took hold, and perhaps even before their relationship grew, they were doomed to failure.
Mia would not have gotten anything less from Sam, especially when she knew how good together they could be...
First book in the River Ranch series, but with the presence of characters from the Texas Kings series.

If you love horses and all things horse whispery, then this is the book for you!
Mia has fought and struggled to remain independent from her father’s wealth. A horsewoman in her own right, she’s outraged to learn that he has hired one of the most talent horse whisperers in the country to help with a troubled stallion she owns. True, she is lost as to what to do to help this special animal, but her father really should’ve talked to her first.
Sam never sat out to make a name for himself teaching others how to train and handle horses, but it was a talent that came naturally and a position he fell into at a time in life when he needed something to help heal his mind. When he is confronted with Mia Ford, he’s expecting her to be a rich society lady who refuses to get her hands dirty but soon learns she is anything but.
When these two first come together sparks fly and emotions roil. Mia and Sam both have preconceived expectations but they are both quickly proven to be wrong and their relationship takes a sharp turn to the physical. However, Sam has a history that has left him hurt and bitter and he remains adamant that what they share can never be anything more than just sex.
The beginning felt a bit slow and I found myself skimming. Some of the disagreements between these two just didn’t seem to be justified. However, once they got past the “I hate you” stage I quickly became engaged in their story. I did get a bit tired of Sam keeping Mia at a distance. And when the end came I felt there needed be some real groveling take place of which there was not.
Overall, I actually enjoyed this book, a lot. It was a bit angsty in places, but not to the point of making me cringe and the steam factor was as high as the chili peppers Mia and Sam ate on their first date. I will definitely be watching for the next book in the series as well as checking out previous books from this author.
This is an honest review of an advanced copy provided by NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press.
New author for the New Year and it left me underwhelmed. What I liked about the book I liked that for a change the main characters weren't typical Texas type characters, I liked that Sam was a "horse whisperer" instead of just another rodeo cowboy or ranch hand and that Mia was professional show jumper and despite being the King ranch heiress she worked hard for everything she has. I enjoyed the over all story and how sexy it was, but, and this is just personal preference, I didn't care for the writing style how some of it was written, the way it was worded, just didn't do it for me and really editors catch those words that are different inside the states, in the states it's flashlight not torch and it's spelled yogurt not yoghurt (I know it's that way in England, NZ, and Australia and many other other places but it's really annoying that a TEXAS cowboy uses torch I really don't think Sam is that much of an anglophile to use that word. Nitpicking I know but it bugged me. Unless it was fixed for actual publication than just ignore me). I also think Sam is kind of a dick, especially to his family and the ending was eye roll worthy, it disappointed me that she went with that path. It had such a great beginning it just went downhill from there.
Mia King bought a horse, a stallion that can't be handled. She has a sentimental attachment to Tex and isn't willing to put him down no matter what. So her Father calls in the famous horse whisperer Sam Mendes. Sam just got done with a tour and was looking forward to time off with his dog, his sister and her twin girls, his best friend and finally some time on his own ranch, but one call from the tycoon Walter King about a stallion has him intrigued and since it's not far from his own ranch he decides to take a look. Once he sees Tex he knows he has to work with this horse, even if he did start off on the wrong foot with his owner Mia.
Sam made assumptions about Mia and it caused her to instantly dislike him, but she set him straight and after seeing her ride and actually getting to know her he realized just how wrong he was about her. Once they get that sorted it doesn't take them long before they kiss and wind up in bed with each other. Sam needs to keep his heart separate from Mia and their relationship a past hurt keeps him from realizing just how perfect it is. Even though Mia agreed to keep their feeling separate she couldn't help falling in love with him.
Overall, I loved the issue with Tex and how that played out and I loved the beginning but Sam wasn't very desirable, he kind of ruined the book for me. I know it seems like this is a bad review but it wasn't horrible, there are just certain aspects of it that bugged me, but you decide if you want to read it, you may end up liking it.
This is a new-to-me author but it’s a genre that I love. Tough cowboy, sassy cowgirl, lots of chemistry. There are always pros and cons when reading a new (to you) author. Although this booked is marked as the first of a series, I couldn’t help thinking throughout that it is a spin-off of another series. Since the author has a bit of a library already it wasn’t out of the realm of possibility. Of course, I checked into it and it seems to be an offshoot from Soraya Lane’s Texas Kings series. You absolutely do not have to read any of those books to enjoy this one, it was just a feeling I had whenever Sam’s sister and husband came up. Also, I couldn’t seem to shake the feeling the author is not from the States even though this book takes place in Texas. Just a few word choices that seemed different. Again, I checked it out and she’s from New Zealand. Still not a bad issue. After all, one of my favorite authors who writes about Americans is Kylie Scott and she’s Australian. Just an observation.
On to the story. There was instant chemistry between Sam and Mia. Even when they were judging each other and bickering. Their chemistry could not be denied. Their dialogue and interactions were also fun. They liked to mess with each other and that, in turn, was fun for me as the reader.
I’d say the first 75% of this story was pretty amazing. Although I liked the last 25% of the story it fell into a few too many romance tropes. The jumping to conclusions Mia did was insane and took her from a smart sassy woman to someone who needed to use her brain a bit more in my eyes. I know fictional stories often have to have a misunderstanding in order to create the conflict between characters and move a story along, but one of the big things seemed like it wasn’t needed here. There was already enough conflict with Sam’s baggage he carried around. Not to mention, no matter how private a public figure is in this day and age, most things can be found online. Truthfully, this issue had me skimming a lot of the end.
All and all, I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more from this author. I’ll most likely start by going back to her Texas Kings series.
3.5 stars
This was a book that I was on the fence about but the more I read it. The more I enjoyed it. Mia is a rich girl who wants to claim her fame and do it all on her own. She works hard as a show jumper and earns her own money. Don’t get me wrong she has had some help but she doesn’t want to use it unless she has no other option. In this case to by a horse that is so overpriced she need her daddy’s help. Sam is the horse whisperer who is hired by her father to take on her mean unyielding new horse without her approval. He goes in already with an attitude and an opinion of Mia that isn’t all that nice. They buck heads but they also have some sexual tension going on and neither of them are to happy about it. The story progresses and we learn more about their pasts which makes the story add up. The why the horse is so mean and what is Mia hiding about her reasons for wanting this horse so bad. I enjoyed the story overall. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book."
The story was slow developing but it was a good read.
I liked the characters and the romance in this story. I read this one in one day because I did enjoy the story so much that I didn't want it to end.
Cowboy Stole My Heart By Soraya Lane is the first book in the River Ranch series.
If you are looking for a nice romantic read that has no cliff hangers then I do recommend this book.
I give this 4 out of 5.
So Cowboys are not my usual type of reading. I really did enjoy this book. I even enjoyed the parts that talked about horses. Sam and Mia re perfect for each other. They both know how to get under each others skin. They also have a huge love of horses and it shows in this book. Sam and Mia come together to help Tex a horse that doesn't like anyone. I laughed, cried and truly enjoyed myself while reading this book. The only negative I have for the author is that in the epilogue she should have given an update on Tex. The author spends a lot of time talking about the horse but in the end he is completely forgotten about. It would have been really nice to know that Tex was doing good or not as the epilogue is a year later.
This is the first time I've read this author and I must say I was quite impressed, the storyline was interesting, though for me, was a little slow in places, however the ending more than makes up for that. The chemistry between Mia and Sam was awesome,
