I am so glad that I found this book. The island was very familiar to me from visits to MV as a kid, The true story that comes to life here was very enlightening. This book will educate and likely make you angry at the incredible injustice done. Must read.
Wow! In starting my review, I have to say first and foremost, the author researched, researched, and researched more! Very informative book! Chappaquiddick Speaks is not afraid to share all theories or share the truth. I truly think the author Bill Pinney finally dug in and finally, got to the truth. He is truly informative all throughout the book, something that makes the book trustworthy. I am truly glad he wrote this book. I remember hearing of this when I was a young child. I don’t remember it happening, but remember hearing of it as I grew up. What I could never get out of my mind is how could someone just leave another person, especially a man (of substantial status) leave a woman (supposedly a dear friend) to just die. How can anyone do that to anyone? As I grew up, as it would be brought to my attention again, I would always wonder about this case and what really happened on that horrific night. I believe, this book finally told us exactly what did. It gets down to every last detail. It covers every scenario of what could have happened and shows with all the research exactly what probably did happen.
Recommend for all who have ever wanted to know what happened that fateful night at Chappaquiddick.
A free copy of #ChappaquiddickSpeaks was given to me by #NetGalley for my honest review.
Thank you to Net Galley and the publishers, Stormy Weather Press.
This is a well-balanced and comprehensive analysis of this infamous case. Although it's obvious the truth can never be truly known at this late stage, the author does a commendable job in his treatment of the facts as known (or as can be reasonably deduced). Objective and well-researched, this is a quality book. The only (slight) downside is that it can be quite a "dry" read in certain areas. Recommended.
My thanks to NetGalley for providing me with an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
I requested this book wanting a more in depth review of the mystery at Chappaquiddick. This book went into great detail and the author was very thorough in his research. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was that there was so much repetitive statements. I felt this could have been organized in a way that most of that could have been avoided.
The subject matter was something I was very interested in reading about. I didn't find the format easy to read. I felt it was just notes that were published. I will check out some of the other books listed.
This was a very interesting book on the Chappaquiddick accident that involved Ted Kennedy and Mary Jo Kopechne. Very well researched and goes into much detail. There is a lot of scientific evidence presented and yes it is a lot,b but it should not be skipped over. This book makes a very good case on the what the author thinks happen, but he presents the facts, etc and it is up to you to decide what you think. It introduces theories and also gives the pros and cons of those theories. No matter how you decide to interpret the facts presented, one thing that is very obvious is a young woman lost her life and a Kennedy was involved. Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the ARC of this book in return for my honest review.
This is a well researched book about the Chappaquiddick incident. It is very detailed and technical. The books examines the science of the accident, discrediting several reports issued explaining what happened. It also goes into the testimony of the people directly and indirectly involved in the incident, including a new witness. The political climate of the time is explained to the reader. There are several interesting theories presented in the book.
After all this time I don’t think we will ever really know what happened that day. So many lies have been told I’m not sure anyone would be believed if they came forward with the truth. One thing we do know. A young woman died and no one answered for her death. In my opinion the story told that night about what happened never passed the smell test. Over the years there have been many books written about this subject. If you are interested in reading a book that pulls everything together and offers up some interesting theories this is a good book for that. It is apparent the authors have done their research. Thank you to net galley for a copy of this book
