A man is told by his ex that not only does he have a secret daughter he knew nothing about but she is missing. This is a typical David Bell book with lots of characters making terrible decisions and an abundance of suspense. A little far-fetched at times, but still a fun read.

Somebody’s Daughter will suck you in from the beginning. The short chapters ending in cliffhangers kept the quick pace of the book. A great thriller for anyone looking for a quick read.

The premise of this book was really good, but the execution fell a little short for me. Lots of characters with twists and turns throughout. I found it to be a little long and was somewhat disappointed in the ending.

No offense intended, but I absolutely hated the last David Bell novel I picked up, and I just don't have the heart to try this one any time soon. I used to love his books, but the clearly male author and awkward phrasing doesn't work for me

Somebody's Daughter is such a fantastic read. I've read a couple of David Bell's books and I currently feel this is my favorite of his. This book takes you on a wild ride that happens the majority of one night. You are introduced to a decent amount of characters in this story but I never felt confused who anyone was. I do have to say I never knew who I could and couldn't trust. I would feel one way about a character then learn something new about them and my mind would change. I feel that is where the charm of this book comes in. David Bell always keeps you on your toes. You never know who to trust and he leaves you hanging a lot of the time. That's what kept me engaged with this book. I'd start reading and the end of the chapter would leave things hanging so I had to just keep reading. I highly recommend this one.

Michael Frazier’s ex-wife, Erica, shows up on his doorstep with a crazy story, asking for help. Against his better judgment, Michael gets caught up in the search. Will the assistance that Michael gives destroy his life and family?

I did like parts of the story, but my overall impression was that the story was too predictable and the ending too simple. Add in the fact that the police sat on their hands while an amateur collected information and the result was a novel that was too unrealistic. Most of the characters were not really likable and the conclusion was just not enough to resurrect Somebody's Daughter. I am usually a fan of novels by this author, so I look forward to reading more in the future.

David Bell is an author I keep reading even though my personal success rate with him is about 50% to this point. I started this title with the hopes that it would land on the side of 50% that I liked. I was not disappointed.

One summer evening Michael Frazier's doorbell rings and his ex-wife, Erica, is standing on the other side of the door. They haven't seen or spoken to one another in a decade. What could she possibly want? Turns out Erica's 9-year-old daughter has gone missing and Erica needs Michael's help. Why? Because surprise! You, Michael, have a daughter you weren't aware of until this very moment and she's the one missing. Surprise indeed. Obviously, a DNA test at the moment is impossible so on the off-chance Felicity is his daughter Michael goes with Erica as she is pleading with him too. Angela, Michael's wife, isn't too thrilled but a child is missing so she reluctantly agrees. What follows is a very long night that bleeds into the next day of several characters and their perspectives on trying to locate Felicity. Several avenues and theories are pursued, and discarded, until they land on the one they never thought of.

I liked this one. I didn't love it but I liked it. Bell's characters weren't as annoying as other titles he has written, although a few of them are still lacking reality. I mean, I understand in fiction all characters lack reality a bit but Bell's tend to be more unbelievable for me than others. I did fall for the theories being tested in who might have taken Felicity so when I figured out where she was and who she was with I really appreciated the surprise I felt. I'm a sucker for a good twist in a story like this one.

A thrilling ride filled with secrets, suspense and action!

This book was sitting on my TBR for over 2 years! Why did I wait so long to read it? I actually listened to the audiobook and was fully engrossed from beginning to end. Let me set the scene for you - Michael and Angela Frazier are happily married and trying to conceive after years of failure. One evening Michael’s ex-wife, Erica, appears at their door frantically asking for his help locating her missing daughter, Felicity, who she believes is his daughter. After that, it was bombshell after bombshell as they searched for Felicity.

I will come right out and say that the plot was far fetched and so much of what happened was implausible but this girl was hooked. The book mostly takes place over the course of one crazy night with short chapters that leave you filled with either dread or suspense so it's impossible to walk away. The search for Felicity uncovers secret after secret, putting everyone in harm's way for one reason or another.

While I enjoyed this book I did have the kidnapping figured out so sadly there were no surprises there for me. I also felt like the end served to tie things up a bit too neatly and happily ever after like, or at least as much as a thriller has a happily ever after. 3.5 stars rounded up!

Bell does a great job setting the stage for what becomes a fast-past thriller. I was lulled in before I realized that I had stopped breathing. A perfect book for someone looking for something to keep them engaged all night!

RATING: 4 STARS

Somebody's Daughter reminds me of Harlan Coben's standalone novels. It is when an every day man gets stuck in unusual circumstances, and suddenly finds himself thinking "how far am I willing to go for someone I love?". Michael's ex-wife, Erica turns up one night claiming her 10 year old daughter is missing, and "oh, by the way, she's yours". Michael having no time to think anything through, knows whether the girl is his or not, he has to help. As Michael leaves his current wife at home, she discovers that Erica has secrets and those secrets might get Michael killed. This suspenseful book had me reading as fast as I could to see if this was going where I think it was going. I would recommend this one if you are looking to go for a crazy ride.

Michael Frazier opens the door at his house to find his ex-wife standing there. She tells him that her daughter has been kidnapped and that he is the father. He had no idea that when they divorced she was pregnant. So he jumps in the car with her and they go on this crazy ride to find out what happened to the child. A great read by David Bell - I read this book in a few hours ❤️❤️ #bookworm #booknerd

David Bell has quickly became a superstar with his writing and it shows with each book he writes! With each book published his writing gets even better than I ever thought it could.

I read an earlier book by David Bell and was very pleased so I went into this book with high expectations. He did not disappoint at all.

You are pulled in from the start. The writing was beautiful and I really appreciated the struggle that the man and his wife were thing through and how much of a wrench was thrown into their life with his ex to show up with a situation with a child that he never knew he had.

I didn't think this was so much a psychological thriller as it was a mystery. Nonetheless, it was a good read.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for this ARC.
