The Tender Heart Is a great historical story - one of abuse, restoration, love, corruption, kindness, peace, comfort and Faith. Megan was abused by her grandmother and put into an asylum to make her disappear - but God saved her by getting her to escape and do that with the help of - - Hey wait - I can't ruin it all for you, and what happens next is totally unreal. It is something you need to see for yourself, but it is spectacular. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley;all the opinions expressed in this review are all my own.

Megan Carter was sent to live in New York with her grandmother. Unfortunately, her grandmother was abusive and when she was a young adult, she had her committed to the Bellevue Insane Asylum where she was abused and treated badly. She didn't belong there but her grandmother was determined to punish her and make her disappear. Her grandmother also had the help of a corrupt police officer who was willing to do whatever was needed to please her. On the way to the Asylum, Megan bumped into a kind stranger who tried to stand up for her and gave her an handkerchief as a comfort for her. She kept it with her and never forgot the kindness of the man who tried to help her.

She was finally able to escape from the asylum with the help of her cousin, Titus and Uncle Henri. She was sent west to live with her five brothers. Both of her parents were dead, but she didn't remember her brothers and was nervous as to how they would receive her. Would they be like her grandmother and treat her badly? Would she be able to find peace and friendship in a wild place? Would it finally become her forever home?

This book was well written and the story was engaging. It was clean with no foul language or descriptive sex scenes. That is refreshing these days. I appreciate the author's commitment to writing a clean romance.

I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
