Tristan who was a cop and now a pastry chef meets Charlotte at a party. The minute Charlotte touches Tristan she feels his pain from the loss of his fiance 2 years ago. He has not recovered from it yet. She is the live-in nurse for his cousin who is disabled with a mother who does not put any personal effort into her care. Charlotte is a Guardian of the Danu. She is a protector of one of the scrolls handed down from generation to generation. The longer she knows Tristan the less pain she feels from his touch. As they find romance can he help keep her safe?
This is book four of the Romancing the Guardians series. Charlotte has the gift of empathy through touch which limits her interactions with others. Tristan must gain her trust and love to make a future together. Another suspenseful tale with delightful characters. Enjoying this series and looking for the next one.
Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.
Received e-copy from publisher and NetGalley in exchange for honest review.
I have not read any other books by Lyn Horner, but after this I look forward to doing so. Touching Charlotte - the fourth in Romancing the Guardians series - can stand-alone without the previous books. It is always hit-and-miss whether your sequenced books *must* be read in order. Enjoyed the compassion and the fact the people seem real - not just cut-outs for happily-ever-after. I give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Touching Charlotte is a beautifully written story of a empathic woman who longs for real intimacy, but a mere touch can cause undue pain and suffering as she takes on the deep and powerful feelings of others.
Charlotte and Tristan are wonderful characters, and while the story starts out a little slow, it is action-packed and enthralling in its overall content. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and look forward to what’s still to come.
