This is the first book in what I hope to be an ongoing series. There are two to date. With the help of a medium, Mr. Monsento, Billy, Abby, and Toby create a business helping ghosts. The kids become able to see ghosts with the help of a Realm-Walker who they are not sure they should trust. It seems ghosts are not always honest. Learning who they can trust and not trust and the rules of how ghosts exist in this world and theirs is a lot for the 12 year-olds to process. This book is aimed at middle-grade students and I agree with that 100%. It was a very fun read.
I was attracted by the title and the cover and it was a good attraction. This book is great and once I started I had to read as fast as I could.
It is entertaining, well written and the characters are interesting and likeable. It is also full of humour and a lot of fantastic moments.
Really recommended.

This first entry into The Fantastic Phantasmic Detective Agency s a little uneven but some what entertaining.
Three children find a stone that allows them to see ghosts. But that s just where their story begins. Soon the three create their detective agency to help ghosts solve their problems. But whne they seek help froma local medium, their lives get really complicated.
This is categorized as Middle Grade but I found it was written like a Young adult novel with wording, descriptions such as metaphors and some jokes that middle age reads might not get. (how many of them have read Dante). But the story focuses n them being kids so it gets boring as an adult going through all their issues with their parents, groundings, etc.
That being said the book starts off first like an old Nancy Drew book but actually goes deeper and the kids go on a fun adventure. The last 3/4s drags as too much happens and the story should really be over.
