A very informative little book dealing with a difficult subject matter that we will all experience at several times in our lives, but which we are reluctant to discuss. I found it very useful and have recommended it to others.
Grief is a hard topic to address, but one no one escapes. In "Winter of the Heart", Paula D'Arcy bravely shares her journey through loss, her grieving process, and invites the reader to consider their own losses and grieving process. D'Arcy's book fills a need for more Catholic resources on the topic of grief and loss. It would be a great resource for those working in pastoral ministry or those looking for accompaniment in their own healing.
This was a great book covering the journey of grief. There is not one way to journey through grief; it can take many shapes and forms, even if the situation be identical to another. I loved the use of metaphors, quotes and bible verses that the author used. Many of them different to what I've read/heard in the past. I found great confirmation and a stepping stone to further helping others in their times of grief. This book was easy to read and had a freshness about it. Some disappointment in that the spiritual aspect wasn't taken any further although there was definitely a sprinkling throughout the book.
