A lovely book about 3 sisters reunited at the old summer holiday residence after their grandmother dies and leaves them ALL to get along and manage it, despite their differences and dislike of each other.

The story was a gentle u folding of then and now, secrets and coverups and resentment barely hidden.

The descriptions of the setting were great and colourful and I found myself wanting to book in for next year.

Thank you to Net Galley and Montlake Romance for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book I've read by this author and I was pleasantly surprised with this book. It was the perfect Sunday afternoon read, an enjoyable story, characters that you can relate to and romance that wasn't too over the top. At it's heart, this book is about family and no matter how long you've been away you can always come home and return to the love of your family.
This was a quick and easy read that kept my interest throughout, even when some of the story got a little predictable. All in all, I enjoyed this book and would definitely check out other titles by this author.

I received a copy of this book almost 2 years ago from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review, but it took me awhile to get through and read it. For some reason, the characters at the beginning of the story didn't reach out and pull me in when I originally started to read it, so I got sidetracked with other things. However, in looking for something to read, I picked this one back up, started back at the beginning, and I am so glad I did! The characters, despite being family, really haven't acted like one and connected with each other. Their grandmother's death forces them into doing so, and through the course of the story, we see secrets being revealed, and bonds being woven. This is a great story about building a family despite differences/challenges, and learning how to become a true family when blood isn't enough to hold everyone together.

This book was not what I expected and took a couple twist that I didn’t see coming! Good read and hard to put down!

I love stories about finding your family. While these sisters have always known they were sisters, they were as the title says "sometimes sisters". The story was an emotional journey for each of the sisters. For all their differences, they also had a lot in common. They all kept their own secrets from the others. Each sister had a major event in their lives that they have to overcome. In the book, each sister found a way to face their past and get closer to becoming a family. This story made me both laugh and cry as I was sucked into the story. I would recommend this book wholeheartedly. I received an advance copy in return for an honest review.

The problem with owning & reading thousands of books is that sometimes a book gets lost in the shuffle, this one did. I got this on February 1 of 2018 & am just getting around to reading it now that I’ve purchased the audio book. My amazing first read from prolific author Carolyn Brown. Well-written with captivating, well-developed main characters. Narrator Brittany Pressley does an amazing job. I sent a half hour crying because of the narration & writing. Since I have both the Kindle & Auduble editions I was able to follow along while being read to, but not during this half hour. I’ll be reading more by this author, especially since I’ve been out on Amazon browsing her titles & got another one! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

THE SOMETIMES SISTERS is a great title for a book that had sometimes sisters Dana, Harper, and Tawny front and center. Along with them, Dana’s daughter, Brook, their Uncle Jed, and Granny Annie, who has passed on, also take center stage in the story.

I loved Granny’s words of wisdom that were “heard” throughout the book, and the way Jed had nightly conversations with her but the girls heard her and talked to her too. This was a book I didn’t want to put down, and my emotions were engaged from the first page to the last. The story was filled with emotion, from heartache and sadness to love and happiness. The loving friendships added so much richness as well.

I laughed and cried as I read the book and became more invested in the story. The characters had a depth to them, and there were always a few surprises along the way. I loved the way the past and present were woven together, and how we learned about each of their lives a little at a time.

The story flowed smoothly and had wonderful relationships to explore—between the three sisters, with Brook, with Uncle Jed, their mothers, and even their love interests. The story was portrayed realistically whether at the lake, in town, or at school. The letters written by Granny Annie were heartwarming and full of love but with wisdom too. There was wonderful closure with the epilogue that takes place a year in the future on Mother’s Day and several happily-ever-afters despite a touch of sadness throughout.

I’ve read several books by Carolyn Brown before, but those featured cowboys. THE SOMETIMES SISTERS was reminiscent of romance/women’s fiction books by Jodi Thomas. I look forward to reading many more of Brown’s books.

These sometimes sisters are drawn back to the area of their youthful summers when their grandmother passes away. Very well drawn characters by Brown.

Dana, Harper, & Tawny has always thought of themselves as "sometimes sisters' because they only saw each other during the summer until that summer. Each one thought that the other had it better. I think they just needed to talk to one another to discover that wasn't right at all. With their grandmother passing away, she brought them all together.

So many families are broken apart by circumstances beyond the kids controls yet the kids feel the brunt of it. With the Sometimes Sisters the family has Granny Annie keeping them together until their lives spiral out of control and they stay away to deal with their own lives.

The Sometimes Sisters is a story of three sisters who have grown up and are now hiding out from life at Granny Annie’s. They fight, they point fingers but most importantly they protect each other and stand up for each other. Each of the sisters is working through their issues and must have the support of the other sisters to find their way out the other side of life.

Zed, Granny Annie’s forever friend, is the angel in this story. He is carrying on Granny Annie’s legacy after she passes by taking care of her granddaughters. He deals with the drama, the tears, and the love of these grown girls. Many men, especially those not related by blood, would have ran away as far as they could get from all their problems but he stood strong, supported, loved, and gave them the gentle pushes in the directions needed to heal themselves.

I loved reading about these Sometimes Sisters becoming Forever Sisters. Carolyn Brown in a must read author. I definitely recommend picking up your own copy and enjoying meeting these wonderful characters.

The Sometimes Sisters is a character driven sweet story. I found it to be fairly predictable and gentle. The 3 sisters and a granddaughter are likeable enough characters, and the dynamics of family as well as the chances of mothers not being perfect are explored thru the story. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it, It was entertaining, a pleasant afternoon's diversion. If you like a book that is highly centered on character rather than situation, The Sometimes Sisters fits the bill. If you are used to Carolyn Brown's category romances, this novel bears no resemblance.

Dana, Tawny and Harper return to the lake where they spent a month of summer each year as they were growing up. They are there because the death of their beloved Grannie Annie has drawn them there. Each young woman returns home reluctantly and with a lot of secrets that they don’t really want to share. The secrets are a center of the story, but the author does such a good job of writing about the characters and the current action that it does not take away from the real story, which is one of reconciliation and love between siblings. I loved each character and how well they were portrayed, but my absolutely favorite character was Zed. Having spent most of his life with Grannie Annie, he still speaks her wisdom and in many ways represents her. She is the main character who has died but is still present, in the restaurant and cabins and store that she started, in the quotes that the sisters keep being reminded of, and especially in the quotes that they sisters keep being reminded of. This is a heart-warming story of reconciliation and the conquest of bitterness.

This is a well-written story that highlights the importance of family. Dana, Tawny and Harper are brought back to the home that they spend many summers at when they were younger. After not speaking for a decade, they are back due to the death of their grandmother and the guilt and regret that they experience is perfectly written about by the author. This book will definitely make you experience a range of emotions. This is definitely a quick and fun read.

This book was an easy read. Was definitely in tears by the end of it. The emotions were strong and the bond between the sisters developed nicely as the book went on.

A heartwarming, Southern family charmer by Carolyn Brown who never disappoints. An instant page turner that is Emotionally entertaining, a tad quirky about Sisters, a grandmother's dying wish, family misunderstandings and overcoming strong feelings. You'll laugh and cry and sigh, which for me makes a great story. 5 sweet stars.
