Awesome contemporary romance. Kian is an excellent Emergency Room doctor and surgeon. He does his best to save anyone possible. Suddenly, a familiar looking woman and her child are brought in with life threatening injuries and his world is knocked off its axis. Roxie received a call from the ER an hour or so away but they won't give her anymore information except that her sister and niece were brought in. Being a nurse herself, Roxie knows the news isn't going to be good but what she and Kian are about to deal with changes both their lives. Roxie and Kian were in love years ago, but Roxie left suddenly sending both their lives on different paths. Now they're reunited but nothing good is in store. The author writes a story that brings you to tears yet she shows how and what made the characters into who they are now. I haven't read a book by this author that didn't deserve high praise and she did it again in "Kian". I look forward to reading future books by her especially in this series. I received a complementary copy via Net Galley and chose to write a review.

I love Melody Anne but this book annoyed me. Roxie had no rights to her niece, parental rights - even if unknown until that moment - trump guardianship. Especially when you counter that she deliberately barely knew her niece. It just seemed that she was using her niece as collateral against Kian. As I said it annoyed me. Still in the parts that didn't annoy me, it was steamy great fun.

Learning he has a daughter with the sister of the only woman he's ever loved isn't easy to accept, especially after losing the child's mother the way he does. Now though, he has a second chance to be with Roxie Gilbert and he isn't about to let anything stand in his way. However, Roxie's stubborn and once he learns why she ran from their relationship the last time, will he be able to convince her to take another chance on him, or will they lose their second chance at happy ever after?

This was a very interesting and riveting second chance romance where although it was hard to like the heroine in the beginning because of the way she treats the hero, I found the more this story progressed and I discovered why she ran from her relationship with the hero in the past, I began to really like her. She wants to be an independent woman and doesn't think she can be that in a relationship where she's so in love with a man that she loses herself. Will she realize that loving Kian doesn't mean she still can't be independent?

As for the dialogue, I loved the hero's determination to do what's right for his daughter because the little girl needs Roxie in her life just as much as she needs him. I also liked how welcoming the hero's family was to Roxie, even after what she did to him years ago when she left. Yet, what I liked most of all about the hero was the bond he quickly formed with his daughter and that he would do anything for her, even if it meant doing things Roxie's way although that wasn't easy.

Overall, Ms. Anne has delivered a wonderful read in this book where the chemistry between this couple was strong; the romance nicely-detailed; and the ending had me loving the heroine's bravery when it comes to finally realizing that she can't live without Kian. However, it was the epilogue that wrapped this story up nicely because this couple are so good together and deserve the love and happiness they've found again. I would recommend Kian by Melody Anne, if you enjoy the second chance romance trope, the matchmakers trope, or books by authors Jill Sanders, Ruth Cardello, Amy Brent and Tamra Baumann.

***I was given an ARC in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own."
1. I don't understand how Kian is an undercover billionaire. The author kept repeating how much money the Forbes has and how the world knew his last name.
2. The weak reason why the protagonist broke up with Kian made me think that this could've been handled in a conversation. No need to break up.
3. The whole Evans situation was weird.
4. There was no true struggle of really getting back together.
It was a quick read but an average one nonetheless.

This was a great story. At first I had a little trouble getting into it because I have never read a book by this author before but once I started really getting in to it I couldn’t put this down. A great read!!!

This is a typical second chance romance set lightly in a hospital but mostly in the surrounding small town so if you are looking for a romance set in a hospital this is not it. I love this author and was really looking forward to this book because I like all of the books that I've read by her but I was left feeling strangely let down by this book the main female character is very immature and doesn't do very much personal growing up during the book. I was just turned off by her . Normally I can't put this authors books down but this one I had a hard time getting into and staying with the story it started out great then just kinda fizzled. I would still recommend this book but not at the present price on amazon right now maybe if it goes on sale or something it would still be a good read .

Kian’s world changed in one single moment as he gazed into the woman’s eyes that called his name as she lay there dying. Those words would carve into his soul and desperately want to seek answers to his past. A past that came back to revisit him in a lost love and someone that was so much part of him he had missed their entire life. Can he rekindle the romance he shared with Roxie or would he continue to live while the woman who shattered his heart was a constant reminder of what he had lost? Absolutely heart wrenching and finding love can rebuild the emptiness the filled his soul for entirely too long. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

New series…new billionaires…. and the matchmaking continues….

Melody Anne’s “Undercover Billionaires” kicks off with “Kian”, the hardworking and successful trauma surgeon. All the money and his love was not able to make Roxie Gilbert his wife, but a tragedy brings her back into his life, along with a baby that he had fathered.

I have always liked Melody Anne and adore her series, but “Kian” just did not do it for me. Well it’s not Kian per say, but I had a real problem with Roxie and her issues, and, her characterization and her problems…were just not clear, plausible or earth shattering to run off!

But then give it a read, definitely for Kian.

Received an ARC from Montlake Romance via NetGalley for an honest review.

Kian was a trauma surgeon and he loves that he was capable of saving a life other doctors couldn’t. When it came to kids he had an extra wide soft side. Hope that he could save one more child kept him moving forward. Kian saw a very pregnant woman and was told she had been stabbed about fifteen to eighteen times. Then Kian realized it was Roxie’s sister -Pamela and she whispered his name. Then she whispered that the little girl had also been stabbed was hos from the one night stand they had four years ago when he was real low. The little girl -Lily- had also been stabbed several times. Pam added you and Roxie need to raise her and this baby if she makes it. Roxie got the call about her sister and knew the routine as she had been a nurse for the last six years. Kian and Roxie had been in love four years ago she left him a very short note and and had left time. Roxie and Pamela’s mom had left them with an alcoholic father and ran off. Kian wants Roxie back when she is back to be with her niece
I didn’t finish this book Maybe if Roxie didn’t go running back and forth I could have got through Kian sleeping with Roxie’s sister Pam when he was suppose to love Roxie so much. Mistakes can be made .Anyway I just got to annoyed and couldn’t finish this book. .

Kian is an emotional read and may require some tissues be close by while you pour through the pages.
With a sweet little girl to help provide a little bit of comic relief and a whole lot of steam provided by Dr Kian and Roxie your reading time is sure to fly by.

This is the first book in this series by this author. This book will keep you hooked from the first page. The first chapter is amazing. This story is told by a third party, switching between the main characters. This author brings you an amazing story with exceptional characters. I can't wait to read more in this series and by this author in the future.

Highly recommended

Kian Forbes a great surgeon who enjoys doing what he does to save lives. One night however changed his life forever when he is working the ER and the victim is a one night stand he had over 4 years ago. She doesn't make it and tells Kian something that shocks him. Kian finds out that the victim is the sister of the woman that he loved but she ran away from him and broke his heart.

Roxie Gilbert ran away because even though she loved Kian, she felt that she was losing herself in their relationship. Her coming back due to her sister's death is a shock and she is not sure how she will handle having to deal with Kian on a regular basis.

We get to see that even though Kian comes from a wealthy family, he and his brothers are great men that has careers in doing what they love. The Forbes family are wealthy but they don't flaunt their wealth and likes to help the community without bringing attention to themselves. Every one in the Forbes family is glad to see Roxie again so that makes her feel even more guilty about running away because she not only loved Kian, but his family as well.

Kian has to try to get Roxie to open up to him so that he can finally understand why she left. Roxie is scared and she seems to want to either ignore unpleasant things or run away from it. This isn't best for everyone involved and Roxie must work through her issues if she wants to have a life with Kian.

It seems that Kian's father and his friends, Joseph Anderson (from the Baby for the Billionaire series) are up to their matchmaking tricks. I loved that the beloved Joseph makes an appearance in this series. I loved his matchmaking tricks!

This is not your average fairy-tale romance, it is so much more on the real side of tragically true to life romance filled with misunderstandings, stubborn pride, foolish choices and bone deep needs.

Kian Forbes is so many things including human and is nursing a broken heart that has never begun to heal. Roxie Gilbert is also many varied and interesting things along with being human. Have they both made some crazy choices (sure, this is what makes them human) They may be charters in a story book romance but they are so real it grips your emotions and takes you along for the journey as they try to make the world right again for one little girl. Thrilling story and I look forward to the rest of the Forbes brothers.

3.5 stars
M/F Romance
Triggers: Murder, cheating

I really wanted to love this story. The premise had me so excited. However, when I began reading, right off the bat, I was disheartened by Kian's role and his aloofness to his own child. You're thrown into the situation without a warning and then thrust into a love story. There was really no build up and no segue to get to the love story.

Once we were in to the love story, then it became more about Kian and Roxie figuring out if they had their chance and it was too late or if they were both willing to take another chance.

I really liked how Kian's family was involved in the story. They were supportive without being overly intrusive.

I thought that there was a lot of angst throughout between Roxie and Kian. They seemed stunted in the development with each other – very juvenile.

Overall, it was an okay story with a lot going on. However, I think it would have been more powerful had the main characters been less juvenile about their situation.

I liked this story, but the pace to me was inconsistent.

The plot point of Kian sleeping with Roxie was addressed but not in what I would call a meaningful way. In small towns, I think it would be hard not to know who had a child and who the child's father is.

Roxie comes home to take care of her sister's daughter after her sister is murdered and finds out that her ex-boyfriend is the child's father. Kian finds out about his daughter on the mother's death bed.

Both Roxie and Kian have underlying issues that need to be resolved, including the reasons why Roxie left him the first place, and how Kian is going to build a relationship with his child. The issues are addressed but not in the depth that I would have to like to have seen.

3.5 stars of confusing romance

I have read many of Melody Anne's books in the matchmaking/interfering father series, and this is a spin-off from those. It takes a less than usual path, but I liked where it ended up. I think that the blurb could just as easily excite you as deter you – but actually, read the book and then make the call, as all is not as it seems.

Kian is an interesting mix of entitled, confident professional, and yet romantically broken, by the woman who has now come back into his life by a totally unexpected and life changing route. I really could not find anything to dislike about him, although I did wonder why he did not follow Roxie and ask her why?

Roxie does not come out well in the behaviour stakes here. She may have gone off to make a life for herself, but at the expense of others, whether Kian or her sister, Pamela. For that, her reasoning (whining) really does not make a great deal of sense. I don't often dislike female leads, but I struggled to find any redemption in her behaviour or character – other than the fact she acknowledged she behaved badly. But hey, Kian is in love with her, his family forgive her, and they clearly have chemistry.

Slightly stranger book than usual in terms of the feelings it brought out, but a well written book nonetheless.

Dr Kian Forbes, an emergency room surgeon, has seen all kinds of trauma in his job. However, this night is one for the records. A pregnant woman and child arrive in the ER, the victims of a horrible stabbing. Kian feels like he’s seen her before, so when the woman grabs his hand and calls him by name he’s shocked. More shocking is when she tells him that the small child is his daughter. No matter how hard he tried, he wasn’t able to save her life or of her unborn child. Tending to the little girl, he sees the resemblance, and remembers his one night stand 4 years prior. This happened when her sister, Roxie Gilbert, who he loved madly, broke things of with him and left town. Getting drunk to forget, he went to sleep with her sister that night. One thing he realizes, he has missed three years of his child’s life and he will do everything in his power, not to miss any more.
Roxie loves her niece and will do anything for her except give her up to Kian. She knows how much she hurt him, when she left him, but she’s not strong enough to resist him. For Lilly’s sake they have to do everything to get along and be strong, but Kian wants Roxie back so he needs to prove to her that they both deserve a second chance.
This was a beautiful love story.
