This whole series has been fantastic, and Dante and Cade's story doesn't disappoint. The best part for me was the raw honesty the story is written with. The insecurity and doubts the characters have endeared them to me even more. I think Kate Meader has a remarkable talent for creating a community with her characters. If you've read Meader's Hot in Chicago series and the Chicago Rebels series, you know that the story telling is always the focus. This story gets us a little closer to the goal (see what I did there). Lol... I could happily live in the Chicago that Meader has created, and I'm waiting (with very little patience) for the conclusion of this series with Violet and Bren's story and a HEA for all of these characters I've come to care about.
“I need to know what you want.”
“You. Everything and you.”
There is no reason for me to beat around the bush. This novella is EXCELLENT. Perfect, really.
I’m not surprised. Why would I be? I’ve been reading Kate Meader for long enough now to know that when her name is on the cover, it’s bound to be a winner.
And oh, Undone by You is the very definition of winner. It’s hot and sexy, but with a strong message and an abundance of feels. Cade and Dante are sigh-and-swoon-worthy—making it a foregone conclusion that the reader (ME) will fall in love right along with them.
Actually, everything about this fast-but-fantastic book is designed to make a reader fall in love—with this couple, sure, but also with the series. The hints at Bren and Violet, the glimpses of Harper and Remy, Vadim and Isobel, in particular, but also the strength of the team, and the final set-up for the payoff that (I hope) has been coming since In Skates Trouble.
So, bush beating aside (heh #innuendo), let me sum up by saying this: if you’re not reading this series, you should be. And if you are—do not miss this installment. It is EXCELLENT.
“It was like no kiss I’ve ever experienced. It was like—”
“Glitter-pooping unicorns?”
He glared in clear disapproval of her levity. “It was like . . . fireworks.”

Cade Burnett is a hot shot hockey player who happens to be hiding that he is gay. Dante Moretti, the new GM for the rebels is the first opening gay man in the NHL although he didn’t come out until after his playing days. When Dante sees Cade at a gay bar he finds out Cade has been hiding who he is but what he doesn’t know is Cade went there for him. Dante assures Cade he will help him get through coming out and be there as his boss but that’s it.... that doesn’t last long Dante and Cade fall and they fall hard.
There’s something about the m/m romance that draws me in and this was no different. Undone by you has a little bit of everything that I love, New romance, friendship and family. These two guys were meant for each other and they bring out the best in one another. There isn’t to much back and forth just one hiccup along the way which again was perfect for me because I don’t like a lot of angst. Now I’m ready for Violets story!
This hockey series is one of my favorites. Three sisters own this team managed by the first gay GM, shouldn't be important but this team is making heads spin. As far as MM romance this was sweet and gentle, good for a first time reader of this genre. Although it's the third book, it reads parallel to book two, Isobel and the Russian, but stands proud on it's own. If you follow Meader, you might recognize her subtle reference to her firefighter series. This review was written voluntarily after reading an advanced copy from Netgalley.
I ended this one on a *sigh* a great big sigh! I had big feels for Dante when he first entered the arena in his perfect suit and was so stoic we just knew he was going to be something. Who knew it was going to be the happy-go-lucky Texan that was going to get under his skin. Cade has had a hero-worship thing going for Dante since he was a teenager and Dante was still a player and now he is his boss! The Rebels sure don't do things the easy way and with the playoffs on the line and Cade still in the closet there are so many obstacles to climb. This was well written and so good! I am loving this series and cannot wait for Vi to get her story! Yes, you could read this as a standalone but really why, oh WHY would you want to. This is a spectacular series!

Kate Meader’s Chicago Rebels series makes its foray into m/m romance, and it’s hot, hot, HOT! This action packed, intense, emotional series never disappoints; Meader manages to craft each book better than the last. Undone By You changes things up a bit with the highly anticipated connection between new Rebels GM Dante Moretti and their star D-man and resident Texan Cade Burnett. Previous books hint at their connection, but until now Meader has kept their truth a secret. This forbidden lovers story cranks up the heat with ample sexual tension and unbelievable chemistry, a combination which results in the hottest hockey players getting down and dirty off the ice.
Readers will appreciate the multi-faceted manner in which Kate Meader overlays story timelines throughout this series. Each book reads as a standalone for those looking to pick up a quick, fulfilling romance, but those indulging in the series will recognize each connection as it happens during the Rebels high stakes run for the Cup. With so many colorful characters and compelling events, the Chicago Rebels series is a must read for sports romance lovers.
Oh my holy hell! I can't get enough of Kate Meader's Chicago Rebels series!
Undone By You is the sweet and sexy novella featuring...CADE and DANTE!
Being completely honest I tend to shy away from MM novels only because I don't find them relateable to my life. With that being said I think that's all about to change and it started with this novel.
I am completely blown away by this novel. We not only get a glimpse into the sexiness of Dante and Cade but also the struggle they go through with having to keep their relationship a secret.
The intensity of this novel is overwhelming
Dante is the new GM for the Chicago Rebels. He also happens to be openly gay whereas Cade who is the star defenseman for the Chicago Rebels is gay but is not out in the open. These two face a lot of obstacles in this novel.
I'm pretty sure Kate Meader could write anything and I'd find it intriguing. I love the way she tells a story as if it were real life. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more releases from Kate Meader in the future!
Omg I loved this book!!! I've read this whole series thus far and thus might just be my favorite!! I wish it was longer but it was still soooo freaking good!!! Awe it was hot!! And so heartwarming!!! These two were something else!! I loved them both!!! Thank you so much netgalley and Kate meader for letting me read this copy!! Can't wait for the book to come out!!
I didn't realized this was a m/m book util I started to read it. I am not usually a fan, but this was a good read

In the third book of the Chicago Rebels series, the passion heats up between two men connected to the hockey team. One is the new manger while the other is a player, thus making a relationship rather difficult. Also adding to the indecision whether to pursue each other is the player is keeping his sexual preference a secret while the other has told the world. But sometimes the desires of the heart are stronger than what the mind dictates. Kate Meader has written a memorable romance about taking a risk in order to possibly find genuine love, and countless scenes in UNDONE BY YOU will be recalled again and again. I was truly moved by the realism all throughout the book.
Since becoming the general manager of the Chicago Rebels, a NHL team, Dante Moretti plans to make certain that he does nothing to mess up this rare opportunity. Though he has come out about being gay, it seems this fact does not influence how most of the team or the three female owners view him, and he is grateful for the chance to prove he is a capable manager. But after only a few weeks of working with the Rebels, a significant fact is learned by Dante about a star player.
When he discovers Cade Burnett is also gay but is keeping it a secret, Dante knows he must be prepared in case the fact becomes public knowledge. What he is not ready for is the attraction that he feels for the younger hockey player. While both Dante and Cade realize being in a relationship could destroy their future dreams because of the fallout, they sense giving in to the overwhelming desire could be so satisfying.
While this Chicago Rebels installment is only a novella, there is definitely no lack of character development. There is plenty of insightful perception into what motivated Dante and Cade to react as they did in any situation that arose. If an event is only dealing with emotions, there was always an abundance of honest feelings being expressed, yet other sentiments might only be thought. This let me know what Dante or Cade was actually experiencing, and Kate Meader is an expert when it comes to showing what her characters are really living through. The personality of each one made them very likable, and I came to adore these two men.
UNDONE BY YOU is engaging, believable, and blazingly hot. The sexual tension between Dante and Cade is frequently sky-high, and the fervor behind the longing they felt increased with every suggestion either made. There was often so much heat and eagerness behind their actions that I was left practically breathless at times. Kate Meader made the relationship between the couple very convincing from start to finish.
I voluntarily reviewed the book from the publisher via NetGalley, and all comments are my honest opinion
I love all the boundaries that are being smashed in the Chicago Rebels series by Kate Meader.
We have three sisters that inherited a failing hockey league. Their father daring them in his death to beat the odds of making the team a success with impossible restrictions. Something even he, a former pro hockey player couldn't do.
All sisters are proving to the masses that women can be just as good in a male dominated sport. Add in players on the team that come from diversified backgrounds who each bring a strength to the team that Harper recognized in them.
Then Kate brings us Undone By You. An m/m story of Dante, the first GM in hockey who's come out and Cade, one of the best defensive men who isn't ready to let the world know. Their relationship seems so impossible. Cade's pretending to date Violet. Dante is Cades boss.
I wasn't sure how the author was going to turn it all around in a novella no less, but she did it. For being on the lower page count, it never felt rushed. Every obstacle was addressed and conquered. We get to see Dante and Cade fall in love and be free to just be. I loved it!

If you've read the previous book in the Chicago Rebels series you might have caught glimpses of Cade and Dante's strange connection. There seemed to have been something going on, chemistry, electricity and one scene toward the end of Isobel's book that looked like something akin to a fight. Now we get all the deets - UNDONE BY YOU runs parallel to SO OVER YOU.
I've always had a thing for the sharp, a little sardonic and reserved Dante Morretti, the first out and proud gay GM of a hockey team. When he runs into happy-go-lucky D-man of his team, Cade "Alamo" Burnett, at an exclusive gay club he can't believe his eyes. While Dante is still calculating the PR nightmare of an NHL player being outed as gay, Cade starts a game of seduction and Dante stands no chance in hell to resist him. As his boss, though, Dante can't, won't let his attraction get out of control.
“Honestly, Cade? You’re impossible to resist.”
I loved Cade from the first moment I met him. He is a light-hearted, laid-back Texan guy, always a joke on his lips to lighten the mood and cheer up the team. Of course, it isn't until UNDONE BY YOU that you realize that he, too, comes with baggage. He is firmly in the closet for multiple reasons and none of them have to do with cowardice. One, there is his dad, who is proud of him but being from Texas he has a rather old-fashioned opinion about what a family must look like. Two, there is still the misconception that only because you're gay you can't be masculine and thus don't belong on a testosterone-fueled hockey team that also has all sorts of homophobic characters. It's like fighting wind mills. But Cade isn't just adorable, endearing, funny and playful, he is also bold and brave and it's the combination that has Dante's hormones raging. I adore him and his connection with Violet. Their friendship is so incredibly special.
****He dropped a kiss on her now purple-streaked hair, feeling incredibly blessed to know her.****
Dante doesn't want to think of Cade as a potential relationship. Too many obstacles stand in their way. For one there is the fact that he is Cade's boss. Then there is the age gap. And third he promised himself never to bind himself to somebody who was still closeted. He'd given up too much to let himself be second best in somebody else's life. In his experience coming out comes with sacrifices, however, the freedom of it beats the hiding and secrecy by a long shot.
Dante was everything I expected him to be and more. He was protective of Cade, always had an open ear for him and ready with advice if asked. He also made me a little angry but there was also understanding for where he was coming from. Dante turned out to be the enigma I thought him to be. He was a contradiction of reserved, cool, collected and warm, kind, wise and vulnerable. - yes, it sounds weird and I applaud Kate Meader to transfer that through her words.
The quote below is significant - and it shows what's wrong with society. It's taken from the conversation Dante has with Cade's father.
Tucker: “Then why do it? Why upset everything just to make some statement?”
Dante: “What kind of statement am I making other than to demand that people accept I can love whomever I want? Do you think gay people are bucking society’s norms to mess with straight people’s minds?
Figures that this novella is my favorite in the series so far. I wish Ms. Meader would have written a full length novel about Cade and Dante, the material would have been there. But, we still have one more story coming up in this series and I can't wait to see more of these two. UNDONE BY YOU is a wonderful addition to the Chicago Rebels series and has it all - it's sexy and sweet, two wonderful leads and full of banter. I have no idea how Kate Meader comes up with this stuff but her brand of humor totally aligns with mine.
“This chest. These muscles. All this hair!” And then he rubbed his cheek against Dante’s pec like a fucking kitten. He drew back. “Sorry, but that’s been on my list.”
If you read MM give this a chance - it definitely can be read as a standalone and while I couldn't get enough of Dante and Cade the author did a great job of packing a satisfying story into this shorty.
"That was the bravest thing I’ve ever seen,” Dante whispered. “I’m so proud of you, polpetto.”
Hot and delicious... yummm.

It takes a certain type of writer to be able to write romance between two men. A talent to where it becomes a beautiful thing instead of something crass and ugly. Meader is one of those authors that I trust to read this type of romance.
This book starts with a bang and never lets up. It took me a little bit to get back into the groove of the hockey team theme since it had been several months since the last installment. Thankfully, a few chapters in and the steamy attraction development definitely got me on the right track.
It was good to revisit some favorite characters that pop in here and there in the book. However, most of the story is dedicated specifically to the two main guys.
What I like the most about Kate's writing is the general high heat steam level and emotional portion of the romantic connection. She is very detailed in the feelings department and not overly dedicated to the other sub plot that surrounds the story. I appreciate that about her. After all, my main interest is the emotional and that sexy, steaming connection between the characters, not whether they win every game or practice each day.
This book is a bit shorter than a typical Meader book but it is a satisfying follow up to the rest of the series. I can’t wait to see if she continues with the team or goes off to another story line altogether.
You can never go wrong by picking up a book by this author. While it is recommended to read the first few books in the series, you could scoot by without it. But why would you? You would be missing out on so many good reads!
🔥Undone By You was one molto ardente (very hot) read!🔥
I loved Dante and Cade’s story! The chemistry between these two was smokin’ and I loved the way they were with each other. They had so much at stake with being together. Dante is Cade’s boss and GM of the Chicago Rebels hockey team AND Cade hasn’t come out yet.
It isn’t any easy path for these two to be together, but I so loved reading about their journey to their HEA.
Sexy, sweet, emotional. Undone by You is a winner in Kate Meader’s Chicago Rebels series!

Dante Moretti is the new GM of the Chicago Rebels hockey team who made the decision to come out and has no intention of letting anything get in the way of his accomplishments. That is until he lays eyes on his team's star defenseman Cade "Alamo" Burnett. Dante tries to put the brakes on those simmering desires. But Cade wears him down. They begin a hot, sizzling affair that Dante wants to keep on the down low due to both their careers. Even though Dante is out Cade had not gotten to that point -- basically because of his father. But they will come to a point where they will have to decide if love is worth the risk.
The only real complaint that I have was that it was too short. I would also add that it is probably necessary to read the other books in the series in order to really appreciate it.
Meader’s couples always have the best chemistry! Dante and Cade were no exception. I loved this one at first, but the second half lagged in comparison and Dante was kind of a jerk - I understand a lot of his misgivings (he was Cade’s boss and had been in a relationship with another closeted gay man before and wasn’t looking for a repeat) but he was running so hot and cold I was annoyed.
Overall really good though. If you like Kate Meader or this series (there are a lot of cameos) - you should enjoy this one as well.
I love this Chicago Rebels series and this latest Undone by You! The characters are awesome and I love that we get more of Violet in this book! It may be a quick read but it certainly is an impactful one. I just love the story line and love that Kate went with an
m/m especially in the testosterone laden world of the NHL. Dante is the new GM of the Rebels and also the first openly gay GM. He is 35 and knows what he does and does not want. Cade is 23 and a defenseman on the Rebels and also gay but he is not out. He wants Dante and so he goes after him. Dante is very hesitant for obvious reasons but there is just no denying their chemistry so they embark on a secret affair which while very hot and steamy is also sweet, tender and romantic.
Is this taboo relationship sustainable? Can Dante get past the boss/ employee dynamic? Will Cade come out? To his team? To his father knowing even how he will react? They have so much going against them but even more going for them and you can’t help but hope everything will work out for them. Love them as a couple!
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
UNDONE BY YOU is the third book in the entertaining Chicago Rebels series. This is a short, sexy M/M romance and I thoroughly enjoyed this highly charged story about two gay men who fall in love. The timing and the circumstances may not be right and they shouldn’t be together, but they can’t resist the sexual pull between them.
Danta Moretti is the general manager for the Chicago Rebels hockey team and he is the first openly gay managing executive in the NHL. Cade Burnett is a twenty three year old respected defenseman playing for the Rebels and he is still in the closet. Cade and Danta try to resist their strong attraction to each other. Danta is older, wiser and he knows he should stay away from Cade but he just can’t seem to help himself.
There are some hot and steamy scenes between Danta and Cade and we also are right there with them as they worry about how others will perceive them. This is a sexy, hot story. The characters are strong and unforgettable and I was in Danta and Cade’s corner rooting for them. It is not easy to admit to being gay in the NHL.
Kate Meader writes hot hockey heroes and Cade and Dante in Undone by You, her latest Chicago Rebels novella, are no exception; though this book is less about hockey and more about being true to yourself and living an authentic life. Together Cade and Dante figure out what that looks like for each of them individually and as a couple. This book ends on a HFN, as opposed to a HEA. I really hope there is a HEA in Cade and Dante’s future. They both deserve one.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novella.
