I really enjoy reading about Hope Harbor. The previous books in the series have been very good. I was not as engaged with Ben and Marci as the main couple and was more interested in Greg and Rachel's story. The storyline with Nicole really bothered me. It was unrealistic (really she is going to track him down across the country) and tied up way too easily. I felt that it was just there to add tension and it really put me off their story. The story of Greg and Rachel was portrayed realistically and maybe they should have been the main couple. It was nice to get a romance story that dealt with a married couple dealing with a tragedy and working together to overcome it.
This was an excellent book. I loved the characters. And the way Irene brought out the even though we have things that happen to us in life, good can come of it if we allow God to work in us. Highly recommend this book along with her other books.
I was given this book for free by Revell for my honest opinion.
Pelican Point was my first sweet romance by Irene Hannon. I've only read her suspense novels up to this point, and I was excited to try her writing in a different genre. This story is very sweet if not a bit predictable. Ben and Marci's introduction was rocky, and they had to look beyond their first impressions to see their potential together. I loved that a central object (the lighthouse) was able to bring so much good to the members of their small community. I was hoping that more of the story would take place in or around the lighthouse, but the small town setting and its colorful characters made the story shine anyway. I also enjoyed the book's spiritual message of God's plans being different than our own, and how being open to Him could lead to better, happier lives.

Once again Irene Hannon delivers a sweet love story wrapped up in the comfort and caring of the delightful town of Hope Harbor and its eclectic residents. I love the way Marci and Ben meet: hero recusing a hurt kitten stuck up a tree or a dangerous intruder, wandering around the backyard? - it’s kind of hard to tell between the two at night. Marci’s strong emotions get her into trouble, but her compassion and caring nature balance that out. Both Ben and Marci are hurting from recent events in their personal lives. There is an undeniable connection between Marci and Ben, and while neither want to pursue it for various reasons, events keep pushing them together.
There was a touch of suspense in the last section of the novel, which really pulls everything together and makes for an exciting conclusion. I wasn’t entirely sure of the way in which mental health was used an excuse or causation for the malicious character’s actions. It seemed a little unfeeling or stigmatizing, but it worked for the progression of the plot.
Despite everything that I loved about this novel, the thing I perhaps loved the most was the secondary story of Marci’s colleague and Ben’s neighbors, Greg and Rachel. They are a young, married couple whose marriage is struggling under the emotional fallout of an injury Greg sustained while serving overseas. Their story of reconciliation, gradual acceptance of outside support and their journey back towards a loving and supportive relationship was powerful. Perhaps overcoming depression and the emotional fallout of such an event may not be so easy in real life, but it was a delightful addition to the Pelican Point story.
Pelican Point is a wonderful addition to the Hope Harbor series. This stand-alone novel is a delightful and engaging story of sweet romance and overcoming fears.
Ben comes back to Hope Harbor to close up his grandfather's estate. When his grandfather leaves him a lighthouse he now needs to stay to figure out what to do with it. Marci has been in Hope Harbor for two years and she loves her small town. When the landmark Lighthouse seems to be in danger of being bought and taken down. Can they come together for the greater reason for the town of Hope Harbor and the legacy of Skip or will it be to late?
I loved this book. I loved the fun characters, I mean you have "talking" seagulls," mind reading" taco man, priest, and pastor, I mean what really more can you expect but fun. I really enjoyed how the book sucks you in and you have a hard time putting the book down. The book has a small side story going on which was just as equally amazing. This book did not disappoint the characters face some tough stuff so the book is not all roses and flowers but its amazing. Seriously you can not go wrong with this book.
This series just gets better and better for me. I love the main characters and then when you add in Charlie and the seagulls it just makes me fall in love with the story. This one has a bit of intrigue and lots of romance. A great combination. I received a copy of this book from Revell for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.
PELICAN POINT by Irene Hannon Revell
Ben just learned of the unique asset to his grandfather’s estate.a lighthouse. A nightmare as far as he was concerned on Pelican Point.
Two years ago it was auctioned off and only bid was his grandfather’s. How could he sell if it needed work. He had just mustered out of the service, and was going to join a practice as a surgeon in Ohio. Then meeting Marci who owns the biweekly newspaper, and her plans for the lighthouse. They started off at odds, but could that change. A delightful story of finding love, and a purpose for themselves, but for the town. Given ARC by Net Galley, for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Pelican Point, Irene Hannon’s newest release, shows a new facet of talent. Dr. Ben Garrison, army orthopedic surgeon, returns to his grandfather’s hometown when he learns of his grandfather’s unexpected death. Even more unexpected? His grandfather bequeathed him the run down lighthouse at Pelican Point. Ben had mustered out of the army and planned to buy into a thriving practice in Ohio. Until he met the fiery redhead who owned Hop Harbor’s biweekly newspaper.
While Marci Weber has only lived in Hope Harbor for two years, it feels like home. When her great-aunt bequeathed her a house on the outskirts of town, Marci decided a change of pace and a new focus would help heal the trauma she’d experienced at a big city PR firm. She doesn’t trust her judgement, or anyone who knocks on her door late at night. She and Ben get off to a rocky start. Their love for Ben’s grandpa is about the only thing they agree on.
Quirky characters populate the town (the scene of previous books by Hannon) and a strong secondary storyline helps keep the plot moving. I’m most familiar with Hannon’s suspense novels, so a sweet romance with a hint of suspense was a pleasant surprise.
Charley, Floyd, and Gladys are back for another lovely story. If you've read the Hope Harbor novels, you'll remember the artist and taco stand owner Charley and the two seabirds, Floyd and Gladys. If you haven't, you'll want to meet them. Charley delivers his wisdom to the folks in town who are trying to figure out life. In this 4th book in the series, Ben comes to town to figure out what to do with the lighthouse his grandpa left him. In the mean time, Marci is working out her career and hoping the lighthouse remains a fixture of the town. As usual, Irene Hannon writes a delightful small town story. I have to admit this one is my favorite of this series because of the lighthouse. I also enjoyed how Irene wove the story of Ben's grandfather throughout the book. This is one of those books that leaves me with a satisfied feeling at the end. If you want a pleasant read, set on the coast of Oregon, this is the book for you. I received this book for free. 5 stars
Pelican Point Is the book that warms the heart. It is about communication, problems in the relationships, hope, healing and trust - Faith in GOD. You have suspense - what will happen in the end with both couples? Will they stay together? You have one couple one as the doctor who inherited the lighthouse who wants to sell and Marci who wants to save it. Then you have the married couple who are having their own problems. What will win out ? They know GOD is there for them will they trust and rely on HIM? Great book of growth, come and grow with us.....
What a lovely story this is. I was quickly engrossed in the characters their hopes and dreams and internal struggles. The setting was lovely, I could really picture the lighthouse and its surroundings.
Without giving too much away I also loved the way the whole town rallied together. Reminded me of a time -long ago - growing up in a small village which was pretty similar... Recommend this book if you are looking for a relaxing read.
This is the fourth book in the Hope Harbor series. This series is full of endearing characters, family, humor, and emotion. This book deals with how a young husband and wife deal with the emotional baggage that comes from losing a leg to and IED
Irene Hannon's suspense novels are always a fun and intriguing read. It's because I like those so well that I've been willing to try her other novels. And while this one isn't suspense, it was still quite interesting and charming in it's own right.
Main characters Ben and Marci have sparks right from their first meeting. Although, you might say, they didn't quite hit it off with each other immediately. No, they got off on the wrong foot.
But then they start over and the romantic sparks start flying...
Without giving any spoilers, I'll just say this is a poignantly sweet story. I'm always a sucker for lighthouses, and stories about them....and this one meets that criteria perfectly.
A light, easy, sweet, read, full of life and fun characters and a beautiful setting. All-in-all, a delightful story.

Pelican Point
A Hope Harbor Novel #4
By Irene Hannon
Ben Garrison is returning to Hope Harbor for his grandfather's funeral and to recover from years as a battlefield trauma surgeon. But when he learns that he has to deal with a most unexpected inheritance he's not too sure that his rest is going to be too relaxing. The Pelican Point lighthouse is not something Ben was expecting to have to deal with. But Ned Garrison's passion for the old structure finds Ben the new owner of the crumbling landmark - a landmark that no one else seems to want. But fond memories of nightly visits to the old lighthouse aren't enough to reason for him to keep it not with the costs of restoration and upkeep needed. Selling it is the only option.
But when Marci Weber, owner and editor of the Hope Harbor Herald, learns that Pelican Point may be sold and lost to the town she's determined to change Ben's mind. Unfortunately, Marci has a tendency to argue a little too passionately for the things she believes in. And, Ben, in his current frame of mind is not about to take kindly to an-in-your-face confrontation.
But when a potential option for saving the landmark is presented Ben and Marci just may find themselves on the same side working towards a goal that will satisfy them both. And when given the chance to see each other after a less than stellar first meeting they may have to re-access their opinions of the other.
Meanwhile, another Hope Harbor couple is having to deal an unexpected change in their plans. The life they had planned is now a seeming impossibility and this very issue could destroy their marriage.
But in Hope Harbor, there is Charley the resident fish taco chef extraordinaire who has a way of helping those around him see the heart of the problem that is bringing them down. Charley has to be my favorite Hope Harbor character and I love his interactions with Floyd and Gladys. Fans of Irene Hannon's books will enjoy this latest offering that is more contemporary romance than suspense though there is a touch when the past comes calling and it is of the most unwanted nature. Overall the story is well-paced and easy to get into even if one has not read the previous Hope Harbor books. This would make a perfect summer read for a long weekend or as a book club selection.
I was provided a review copy of this book by the publisher Revell with no expectations of a positive review ~ all opinions expressed are my own.
Irene Hannon never disappoints me! This is another fun romance with a little suspense thrown in. When Ben moves to Hope Harbor and meets Marci sparks fly. Matters don't improve when Ben decides to sell the local lighthouse that he inherited. When Marci comes up with a potential solution to their disagreement the sparks of anger fizzle and sparks of romance soon ignite. Great book!
I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher. The views expressed are my own.
Welcome back to Hope Harbor, Oregon where the people come together to support their community almost as fast as the gossip mill works.
Ben Garrison has returned to find he has inherited a dilapidated lighthouse from his grandfather. Memories of his time in Hope Harbor are some of his favorites, but he has a job waiting for him in Ohio. His goals for his time in Hope Harbor: clean out his grandfather’s home and unload the lighthouse.
Newspaper owner/editor/reporter Marci Weber loves the Pelican Point lighthouse and doesn’t want to see it torn down by a developer. Her fiery temper and tendency to speak her mind without thinking tend to get her in trouble.
After a bit of a rocky start, both Ben and Marci admit their attraction quickly. Yet both are leery about pursuing that after some bad experiences in the romance department.
While this book is mostly about Ben and Marci, I thoroughly enjoyed the scenes with Rachel and Greg, a young, newly married couple who are struggling. Marci and Ben take these two under their wings in quiet and unassuming ways that encourage them.
Readers of the previous Hope Harbor books will enjoy the cameos, and of course, Charlie and his seagulls play a big part in this one. Another winning romance from the author that made me long to visit the beach.

Tensions ignite a romance that is just brewing under the surface in Pelican Point that isn’t to be missed.
When Ben Garrison leaves the army to go tend to the last wishes of his grandfather who has just passed away, he has no idea what he is walking into. Even though they were close, his grandfather didn’t tell him he would be inheriting a lighthouse. It was put up for auction and his grandfather was the only bidder wanting to preserve the history. Unfortunately, his health kept him from being able to keep up with it. Not exactly the kind of thing Ben wanted to inherit, nor does he have any desire to keep it.
The editor of the town paper, Marci Weber, knew Ben’s grandfather and how much the lighthouse meant to him. She is determined to make sure Ben respects his grandfather’s wishes and save the town landmark. The two butt heads over the potential outcome of the lighthouse but eventually find common ground which leads to much more between them. Once they start working together the potential for their lives together shines brighter faster than the lighthouse ever could have.
Irene Hannon has become one of the top Christian writers around. Not only is she great at writing suspense but she has also become an excellent romance writer. Even though this is a romance novel, Hannon includes a few moments of suspense bringing a more realistic quality to not only the characters but the situations they face. I am more of a fan of her suspense series than romance but she has been pulling me in as of late with the characters and connections they establish. Ben may be coming back from war and the heaviness that it brings but we get to see a softer side to him as he develops feelings for Marci. One of the nicest things about this book is it is a clean romance that can be read by anyone without worrying about the content for younger readers. Overall it was a very enjoyable read that won’t stress readers out but will leave them awaiting the next by Irene Hannon.

A new addition to the Hope Harbor series.
Ben has been an Army physician who returns to Pelican Point after his grandfather's death. He was surprised to learn that his grandfather, Skip, had purchased the old lighthouse and left it to him. Ben only wants to tie up things, which includes selling the lighthouse and moving on with his plans to join a large practice.
Marci, who owns the town newspaper, is upset that he would sell the lighthouse, which has meant so much to so many people. She puts together a plan to try to save it from the stranger who wants to purchase it only to tear it down.
Other characters are Rachel and Greg who are struggling in their marriage. Greg experienced terrible trauma while serving his country in the Middle East. He came home, to his new wife, an angry man. Rachel is about at the end of her rope. She works part time for Marci at the newspaper which gets her out of the house some.
This book is great as a stand alone if you haven't read any of the previous Hope Harbour books. If you have read any of the others, you'll be happy to see that Charley and his amazing taco stand is still there and still offering words of wisdom.
While I enjoyed this book, it didn't grip me like the Irene Hammon books I've read in the past. I'm not sure why. Also, there wasn't much more than a sprinkling of Christianity in the story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This was a good read with strong characters and an interesting plot line. I am always disappointed when christian fiction books contain little to no true spiritual content and this book was one of them.
Pelican Point is the fourth book in the charming Hope Harbor series by beloved author Irene Hannon. Hope Harbor is a fictional coastal town in Oregon where the residents of Hope Harbor are a warm community. Having lived years on the Oregon coast myself, I really enjoyed reading the descriptions of the scenery and could easily picture this little seaside town in Oregon.
Dr. Ben Garrison comes to Hope Harbor to mourn his grandfather's death and close his estate. Much to his surprise, his grandfather left him a lighthouse badly in need of repairs. He wants to sell the light house because he is moving to Ohio to join an orthopedic practice. He meets Marci, who is the editor/owner of the town newspaper and she wants to interview him about the life of his grandfather and the lighthouse. Over the course of the story, the towns people all come together to try and find a ways to save the lighthouse for the town instead of selling it to an individual investor.
This book reminded me a lot of Jan Karon's Mitford Series that I read many years ago. It is an enjoyable read, though it didn't grab me like the other books in the Hope Harbor Series did. Though most of the characters are familiar, I just couldn't seem to connect with the characters in this story. The romance seemed too contrived to really pull me in as this authors books usually do.
