Walking back into Hope Harbor is like coming home to snuggle in front of a fire on a cold winter night with your favorite blanket and hot chocolate. Pelican Point did not disappoint and has been my favorite thus far! We get to reconnect with our favorites like Charlie, Eric & BJ, and Marci while meeting Ben, Rachel, and Greg. Tough issues are tackled such as war injuries and their effects on soldiers and marriages as well as stalkers and false accusations. The suspense, fear, grief, and desire keep you turning the pages unable to put it down. Ben and Marci as well as Rachel and Greg have very intense stories that drawn you in and feeling every emotion. I can’t wait to catch up with them in future Hope Harbor adventures!

Hope Harbor is a small Oregon seaside town. Where people look out for each other and support any venture that comes up. Charley the empathetic taco maker, always seems to know everything and has the right things to say. Carrying on in its theme of bringing people together, who have hearts in need of mending - this latest book in the series, is more of what we have come to enjoy in this gem of a town.

Both Marci & Ben have a history with stalkers, and as they become closer, despite the reservations - old fears will rise again. Though Irene Hannon never makes her books about one couple only, I felt like there was more of the alternate story in this book. It follows Ben’s neighbors, Greg & Rachel struggling with a new marriage tipped on edge by a tragic event that has turned Greg’s world on its end. Will they be able to rediscover what brought them together in the beginning? Is love strong enough to overcome all, especially given theirs is a love that is so fresh...

I didn’t find this book as engaging as those in the past. It’s still a nice read, gorgeous location and fun to revisit. The plot is getting a little familiar though, and I felt less benefit from the ‘Charley’ advice than in the past. He’s always been mysterious and aloof. Appearing by chance. Just when needed. He’s become more of a regular character, with less to make him stand out.

Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC. This is my honest review.

Another exciting addition to the Hope Habor series. Sometimes the things right in front of you are hard to see.

Irene Hannon never fails to deliver a good book, such is the case with Pelican Point. A great addition to a great series.. I love lighthouses so I definitely enjoyed the plot and the characters. If you enjoy a good romance I recommend this book.

Thus far I have loved all the novels in Hannon’s Hope Harbor series. It is so easy to picture the area in my mind and each of the characters seem to come to life within the pages of her books. My daughter and her husband have spent the past three or so years living in Oregon, part of that time in a small coastal town near where imaginary Hope Harbor would be. I am quite certain that if I were to visit them I would immediately begin searching for Hope Harbor and especially Charley’s taco stand.

As always, the plot not only contains a sweet, developing romance, but also has a life lesson or two for its readers. I enjoy seeing how characters’ lives are changed through the wisdom and caring actions of other characters. Charley (and the seagulls) would especially be missed if left out. As far as I’m concerned, Hannon could continue the Hope Harbor series indefinitely as long as she remembers that Charley is an essential character to each and every story.

I did like both primary characters Ben and Marci and enjoyed watching their relationship grow and seeing how God worked in their lives to help them overcome wounds from the past. It was also encouraging to witness the miraculous changes in the couple next door to Ben. Other than that, I will urge you to grab a copy of “Pelican Point” for yourself as soon as possible. I really don’t think you will regret your visit to the enchanting town of Hope Harbor.

I have read many of Irene Hannon's books and loved them all. This one, not as much though. I love lighthouses and found this part of the book interesting. I also liked both of the main characters and the setting. I loved revisiting the characters from her other books.. But for me, something was missing. Reading became tedious and I was anxious for it to end. Hopefully, it was just me and others will enjoy it more.

My thoughts: PELICAN POINT is the fourth book in Ms. Hannon's Hope Harbor series, but it easily stands alone. This book features two relatively newcomers to Hope Harbor, one Army surgeon who came to settle his grandfather's estate and a newspaper editor who tends to get a little emotional.

In Ms. Hannon's stellar storytelling, I was instantly drawn into the story, in love with both Marcy and Ben, not to mention the secondary characters I've grown to love in the previous stories: the two feuding--but best friends--ministers, Charlie the fish taco guy, Floyd and his "wife", as well as new to the scene Rachel and her husband Greg.

Heart-thumping romance, a stalker (though nothing near Hannon's suspense), secrets, and a save the lighthouse campaign are enough to keep the pages turning, and for this book to go on my keeper shelf.

I *love* this series! Hannon is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors and also one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. I can't wait for my next visit to Hope Harbor--in Spring 2019.

I was given a copy free. All opinions are my own.

I have been treading through some deep non-fiction waters lately! And that's great. I've learned a lot--at least I think I have. Time will tell, I guess. But, sometimes, I just have to take a break from all the self-help, finance and devotional books, and read something a bit lighter, and more fun.

On this occasion, Irene Hannon's newest book in the Hope Harbor series really hit the spot. Pelican Point tells the story of Dr. Ben Garrison, who's come to Hope Harbor to bury his beloved grandfather. He's only recently been discharged from the Army, and has plans to join a practice in Ohio after taking care of his grandfather's estate. That was before he learned that his grandfather left him a legacy--an old lighthouse that's in bad need of repair. Ben has no means to repair or keep up the lighthouse, so he decides to sell it.

Marci Weber, the editor of the local newspaper, has other ideas. She's determined to save the lighthouse, and she's very passionate about it--which is probably not the best thing. Although Ben finds himself attracted to her, he's recently been burned by an overly-emotional woman, and Marci almost drives him away. She, too, has recently come out of a bad situation, and she's leery about starting a relationship with someone who isn't planning to stay around. But circumstances seem to continually draw them together, and they have to decide if love is worth the risk.

I have enjoyed all the books in the Hope Harbor series so far, and I loved this one, too. Irene does write good, clean, romance novels, but I have to say, I enjoy her suspense novels more! I think she threw a bit of a suspenseful turn in this one, and it made the story even better for me!

I also liked that there were really two stories happening here. While Ben and Marci's story was great, I really loved reading the side story of Greg and Rachel. They're a young married couple who have been dealt a pretty hard blow. I loved the message that love and marriage vows can really overcome all obstacles if two people are willing to put in the effort.

Irene has captured another wonderful story in an equally beautiful setting. I love the characters of Hope Harbor. I've never eaten a fish taco, but, man, do I want one! My mouth waters every time Charley comes around! I want to walk along the boardwalk, and read the Hope Harbor Herald. I want to visit the lighthouse, and eat something sweet from the bakery. I love a book that's also an experience, and Pelican Point certainly is.

Pelican Point is the fourth book in a series, but it (like all the others) can really stand alone, too. I always enjoy reading a series where you get little peeks into the lives of characters from the other books. This was a great read, perfect for your summer vacation--whether your sitting beachside, poolside, on the porch while the kiddos play, or even at night before you go to sleep! I highly recommend it.

Sweet story about a soldier coming back from overseas for his grandfather's funeral and to settle his affairs. I enjoyed hearing the grandfather's wisdom from different characters throughout the story. Ben, the grandson meets a spunky redhead named Marci and sparks fly. The story is mostly predictable but does have a few twists thrown in. I enjoy the interaction between the characters in Hope Harbor and the camaraderie. This is a quick enjoyable read. Recommended!

Great book! Everyone's past experiences play a part in who they are today. I love how Irene Hannon is able to bring them out and put people together!

Pelican Point by Irene Hannon is a nice clean read. It is a story of one grandson who loss his grandfather and inherits a lighthouse that nobody wants, ncluding him. Then, there is the cat he tried to save only to get scratched up, the police called on him, and a determined female reporter wanting a story from him. Ben Garrison is an easy character to like and connect with...his emotional journey sucked me into the story. Sad, entertaining, and hopeful, this novel was good. I felt everything Ben did. It was like I was there personally watching it all unfold. Overall, I recommend this sweet heartfelt tale to all readers.

I've enjoyed my previous visits to Hope Harbor in Irene Hannon's books, and this new book is no exception. Once again Hannon introduces memorable characters, adding to those from previous books, including another visitor who has no intentions of staying, but eventually does. Besides that visitor, another plot theme introduces a young couple struggling with life's challenges. Both stories are deftly woven together, along with some suspense and plot twists, for a very satisying read. I enjoy the location, having lived in Oregon for several years in the past.

A crumbling lighthouse is not part of the inheritance Army doctor Ben Garrison expects to claim when he journeys to Hope Harbor. Fresh out of the service, he wants only to unload the tower of bricks, decompress from years of treating battlefield trauma, and prepare to launch his civilian career.

Hope Harbor Herald editor Marci Weber has other ideas. She may not be a Hope Harbor native, but the small Oregon seaside town has become home--and she's determined to save the Pelican Point landmark.

Sparks fly as the two go head to head over the fate of the lighthouse. But when they start to cooperate, a different kind of fire ignites. And as they work together, might Hope Harbor heal the hearts of these two romance-wary souls?

What a good book. Ben is ready to retire from the Army and move on with his life. Then he finds out he has inherited an fund draining lighthouse from his grandfather. What to do but see if he an sell it and get rid of it. In come Marci. She is determined to save the lighthouse. There's really no mystery involved. Just a real good book to read on a rainy afternoon. I highly recommend this book.

Ben Garrison is a retired Army Orthopedic Surgeon, he has many wonderful memories of spending his childhood at Pelican Point with his grandparents. When his grandfather leaves the lighthouse to him, Ben finds it a hindrance to his plans to join a private practice. Since he has no plans to restore a dilapidated lighthouse, he puts it on the market.

Marci Weber moved to Hope Harbor 2 years ago. She knew Skip, Ben's grandfather and helped him care for Pelican Point, she owns the town paper and wants to do a story on Skip. She talks to Ben after funeral and finds out his plans to sell Pelican Point, she tries to talk him out of it, but he is against keeping it. Marci rallies the town together with a campaign to save Pelican Point.

Marci's friends Rachel and Greg have been going through a tough time, they recently moved to Hope Harbor after Greg lost his leg in an accident. Rachel has been working for Marci, and when Greg hears about the lighthouse campaign, he is excited and has something to work and focus on since losing his leg.

I like how the lighthouse helps Greg to move past the accident, he takes initiative, and starts to see his life looking up.

Ben is a good man, full of faith and integrity, he is a great doctor, and very intelligent. He doesn't want to see the lighthouse torn down either, but he doesn't see how he could balance keeping the lighthouse with his busy life. He can't help but admire Marci and her passion for the lighthouse. He tries to avoid her at first, but as their paths cross he sees that it is impossible.

I liked the interaction between Ben and Marci, they have different opinions about the lighthouse that end up bringing them together. It was fun revisiting Hope Harbor, many of my favorite characters came out to help save the lighthouse as well as Charley from the fish taco stand.

A fun fast paced read with great dialog and a wonderful community coming together to save a lighthouse. Great humor and plenty of surprises along the way. Marci was my favorite, she lives her faith and has an infectious "can do" spirit. I also really loved how this book followed Rachel and Greg and how Rahel never gave up. A fantastic book from beginning to end!

Pelican Point, Marci and Ben's story, was a beautiful mix of suspense, romance, and a little bit of history all in a unique setting. Who doesn't love a beauty-from-ashes story—on two fronts, no less—and a lighthouse with charm? As I read the book, my craving for Charley's fish tacos grew, as did my love for this quirky town.

“Skip had loved that lighthouse—and all it symbolized. Light in the darkness. Guidance through turbulent waters. Salvation for the floundering. Hope for lost souls.” ~page 11

Honestly, if I could give this a hundred star review I would! There isn’t anything that Irene Hannon writes that I don’t love; both her contemporary and suspense fiction. I know when I pick up a book written by this author, it is going to be a stellar read. One I will quickly devour!

First off, I make my home on the Oregon coast, so of course I’m going to thoroughly enjoy one set there. Everything about the coast draws a person to it; the cry of the seagulls, the inviting sandy beaches to walk on and to top that off, our lighthouses! This just happens to feature a lighthouse that was once pristine in its heyday. Now due to neglect and lack of funding or manual labor to repair or maintain it, it’s falling apart around her ears. Enter Ben Garrison—grandson of “Skip” Ned Garrison—who just inherited the crumbling symbol of hope in Pelican Point. With no plans to stay longer than necessary, he goes about trying to figure a way to rid himself of a burden he didn’t ask for. This in turn, brings about Marci Weber—Hope Harbor Herald editor—who has just the opposite idea. She wants to save the centuries old town landmark. Well, you can imagine where the story might go from there!

The pages quickly drew me in & once again plunked me in the middle of a fictional town that the author herself based on real places. It took me back to towns I’ve visited or have longed to visit—Shore Acres State Park down by Coos Bay is one of those “someday” places. You can picture clearly in your mind the exact scenery she describes, almost as if you were there yourself. Visiting the wharf, I saw my favorite & mysterious character, Charley…the fish taco slinging, sage advice giving, tried and true person who you can count on for great food and keen insight to whatever is in your heart. Truly he knows things without anyone saying a word; I’ve often wondered how he does it! Then there’s Gladys and Floyd, two seagulls that have uncanny human like personalities. Fun & quirky, they add their own flavor. Not only are the characters ones I’ve enjoyed from the first book, but the whole story unfolding before my eyes was a beautiful testament to a gentleman who loved his town, the people in it, and gave so much of himself to it—and a town that gave back to his memory and legacy he left. I only pray each of us leaves that kind of legacy behind...a legacy of love and devotion to the things that really matter in life! Oh yeah, and the author adds a bit of a suspenseful twist for a dramatic conclusion…I assure you, nothing that will keep you up at night. It shakes things up a bit and gives the story a bit of spice; kind of like our red-headed heroine Marci!

If you haven’t discovered the Hope Harbor series for yourself, what are you waiting for?

Pelican Point is the fourth novel in the Hope Harbor series. In this intriguing novel, we are introduced to Army doctor Ben Garrison who has arrived back to Hope Harbor for his grandfather's funeral.

Ben, being sole heir is left everything, including the run-down lighthouse at Pelican Point. Ben wants to settle his grandfather's affairs and move on to his new practice in Ohio and that means selling an old lighthouse no one wants to buy; until a developer puts in a bid to buy it and the whole town comes together thanks to Marci, the local newspaper editor to save the landmark.

Can Ben who wants nothing more to settle the estate can't push past the feelings he has for Marci, the strong-willed red headed newspaper editor. Both Ben and Marci are dealing with past issues that have made them skittish about forming relationships. Will they be able to move past these issues and yield to their feelings?

The writer has done a great job of bringing you into the small town of Hope Harbor and into the lives of the characters she has created. I especially appreciated the way all the characters in Hope Harbor revolved around the lighthouse and Charly the taco king.

I like the way she artfully interweaves the characters in this story and creates a subplot.

Although this novel is the fourth in a series, it can stand alone without reading the first three, but once you've read this one you will want to read the rest.

Ben Garrison has returned to Hope Harbor upon his grandfather's death and discovers his grandfather has left him his house as well as the lighthouse he owns. Ben is returning from overseas duty as an Army surgeon, and his plans now have him heading to Ohio to join a practice there. Marci Weber is the editor and owner of Hope Harbor's local newspaper. She has no desire to see the lighthouse torn down for development. The story revolves around this cozy town and it's desire to save the lighthouse.

I have not read the first three books in this series, but book 4 reads well as a stand alone. ( I will definitely go back and read the first three as I would love to get to know some of the characters better and I loved the town of Hope Harbor.) This book contains humor, danger, suspense, and lots of heart. It has a great cast of characters who bring Hope Harbor to life and make the reader want to be a part of it. I loved how Charley, owner of Fish Taco, in his quiet way seem to interconnect with all the characters and often spoke words of wisdom through his two seagull pals.

Hannon deals with some challenging issues in this book and shows how faith can make a difference in solving them. Rachel and Greg are still newlyweds dealing with Greg's loss of a limb, his depression, and his anger. This subplot was handled beautifully.

I would definitely recommend this book to readers of contemporary Christian fiction.

Sparks, romance, and community activism abound in this delightful return to Hope Harbor!

I prefer Hannon’s romantic suspense, but she does a wonderful job with her inspy books. And I love little Hope Harbor, Oregon! Charley’s fish tacos and wisdom, the bantering clergymen, seagulls Floyd and Gladys, and all the other local characters who make you feel like a local, too. I don’t even really like seafood, and I still wish I could stop by Charley’s taco truck on the wharf.

Sassy Marci and stubborn Ben are simultaneously sweet and steamy, and I can’t wait for their cameos in future Hope Harbor stories! Another lovely read from Irene Hannon. : )
