I fell in love with the Hope Harbor series with the first book, and I always love re-visiting Hope Harbor with each new addition to this series. Pelican Point lived up to my expectations in so many ways. I always smile when we meet back up with Charlie, a favorite character from each book of this series. The community of Hope Harbor is brought to life with realistic characters. This series could be read out of order, however I would recommend starting at the beginning of the series as we do meet characters featured in previous books.

When I read the Hope Harbor series books, I am transported to a charming community along the Oregon Coast with stunning ocean views and the smell of the ocean in the air, where people stop on the street to say hello and know each other by name. Where you can stop down at the Harbor and pick up a fish taco and have a meaningful conversation with Charlie. This community is brought to life with realistic characters, a little bit of conflict to give just enough suspense at times.

Ben and Marci’s story made me laugh and smile. Their first few meetings did not go well and that set up some interesting first impressions of each other. I enjoyed seeing them work through the baggage from each of their pasts that was getting in their way.

The storyline that really captivated me was Greg and Rachel. I loved the reconciliation and amount of recovery that Greg makes in his personal life and the reconciliation in their marriage. Their story was filled with so much realistic emotion as we watch them navigate the difficulties of life and the effects of on their marriage. I liked how faith was an important part of their reconciliation.

I enjoyed returning to Hope Harbour and spending more time in this picturesque community. There are 4 main characters to this story, Ben – who has just inherited a lighthouse, Marci – who runs the local paper, Rachel – who works with Marci, and Greg – husband of Rachel.

Ben has come to Hope Harbour from the Middle East to settle his grandfather’s estate before beginning his post army life at a practice in Ohio. He discovers this task may take longer than planned when he learns he has inherited a lighthouse with the estate. He is able to find a buyer but the buyer is planning to tear down this landmark, when Marci find this out she rallies the town to save the lighthouse. Ben & Marci have bad impressions of each other from their first meeting and her approach to Ben when she finds out about the lighthouse is less than cordial. But Ben feels stuck, he needs to sell the lighthouse so he can start his new job, but he understands why the town wants to save the lighthouse. Through a rational discussion with Greg he agrees to give the town time to find a solution before agreeing to sell to this buyer. In the meantime he wants to stay clear of Marci and her hot-headed emotions. However things don’t always go as we plan. Can the lighthouse be saved?

Personally I enjoyed Greg and Rachel’s story the most. Shortly after they got married, Greg was injured and the emotional fallout of this injury has affected their relationship, it is not in a good place when we first meet them. The story takes us along with them while they work on reconciliation and journey back to a healthy and loving relationship. I liked Rachel at the beginning and felt for her, and loved her determination to show Greg that she loved him for him. The change in Greg over the course endured me to him. I loved how far they had come by the end.

Charley, the local taco maker, is a fixture in town and has had an impact on each and every character in the Hope Harbour stories and this one was no different. I appreciated his input and liked that he was didn’t tell people what to do but gave them something to think about instead. Each book in this series could be read as stand alones but by reading in order you will get to know more of the recurring characters and find yourself falling in love with the town like I have.

Pelican Point is another book in Irene Hannon's Hope Harbor series.. Army doctor Ben Garrison returns to Hope Harbor to settle his uncle's estate and discovers he is now the owner of a lighthouse in disrepair. Hope Herald's editor Marci Weber sets out to save the lighthouse, a nearly impossible task. Sparks fly between these two main characters, but each has their own history dealing with a stalker. I especially liked how Hannon showed how stalkers can go after a strong military man like Ben. Can they save the lighthouse and find love at the same time?
Hannon also gave us a side story of Greg and Rachel, a newlywed couples of Greg and Rachel whose marriage is in crisis after Greg had lost a leg in battle. I can't wait to return to Hope Harbor!

While I usually prefer Hannon’s other military suspense type novels, I have come to love Hope Harbor. It lives up to its name. It is truly a place where hurting souls can come and find renewed hope. I love to see the changes in people as hope takes hold. It’s beautiful.
Ben Garrison returns from the Middle East when his grandfather dies and finds he has inherited a lighthouse. What? His day goes from bad to worse when a fiery redhead calls the police on him as he tries to rescue a cat. This same redhead, Marci, is determined to save the lighthouse even though Ben cannot afford to keep it. The sparks fly and Ben can’t help but be drawn, unwilling as he is, towards this firecracker of a woman.
It is fun to encounter the characters from prior books in the series. I am always intrigued by Charley and his ability to see right to the heart of a matter. I hope one day there’ll be a book about Charley with the townspeople coming to his rescue as he has helped so many of them.
This book is well written and has great characterization. The story is heartwarming and refreshing. I would highly recommend it and the other books in the Hope Harbor series.
Thank you to Revell for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. I was not required to leave a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Pelican Point is the fourth book in Irene Hannon’s Hope Harbor Series. Newcomers added to the lovely tight community, making this an enchanting read. One does not plan to stay while the others are settling in permanently. Dr. Ben Garrison comes to Hope Harbor to settle his beloved late grandfather’s estate.

I enjoyed the homespun wisdom that everyone remembers from Ben’s grandfather. I also enjoyed the relationship building between Ben, the good doctor and Marci, the newspaper owner and editor. There was a mature realistic aspect to their relationship. What I loved was the subplot of married couple, Rachel and Greg. Both Greg and Ben are former military, so I also applauded seeing men who could man-up instead of resorting to bad language and bad behavior. Yes, Greg had some major problems in the beginning, but I loved the way God helped him as a person and as a husband. Overall it is a wonderful Christian romance. While I thought this story would go exactly as how it started, there is a twist or two that I did not see coming that added some suspense to the story, too.

I did not find this series until the third book. Each book reads well as a stand-alone. Since then, I have bought the earlier books in this series. I hope it continues for many more. Hope Harbor is a wonderful discovery!

The publisher through Net Galley provided an ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

I looked forward to this book for many months and it lived up to my expectations. It took me back to the coastal town of Hope Harbor and many of the characters I loved in the first two books of the series.

Although they got off on the wrong foot, newcomers Ben Garrison and Marci Weber fit right into the small community. Both of them had plans that didn't include a romance yet they continued to connect on many levels, especially when it came to the Pelican Point Lighthouse. Pelican Point, a landmark that was slated to be purchased by a wealthy developer was probably going to be demolished in favor of a sprawling development.

Irene Hannon is a master when it comes to character development. She takes on challenging issues and shows us how a little faith can make a big impact on the lives of those she intertwines within the story. Greg is a young, disabled veteran who moved back to Hope Harbor with his wife Rachel. Bitter after an I.E.D. attack took his leg, it seems as though life couldn't get any worse for them. For Rachel, life with Greg wasn't what she dreamed of when she left home to marry her handsome soldier.

One constant in all the Hope Harbor books is Charley, Fish Taco stand owner extraordinaire. He silently observes everything about the community and is a quiet force who makes his customers think of things that may seem unconnected, yet as they walk away his wisdom radiates. If I have to have a favorite character, it has to be Charley because he seems to be that still, small voice we often hear when we aren't ready to listen. Even though I don't eat fish tacos I would willingly try one just to meet Charley.

Best selling author Irene Hannon is a three-time RITA Award Winner. If you have ever read her books you know why. Whether it is the coastal Hope Harbor series or perhaps a thriller such as Dangerous Illusion in her Men of Valor series you will be hooked into the story right away and be looking for publication dates for the the next book in the series as you turn the last page.

If you enjoy a good romance with a nice coastal village setting, this is for you. I recommend this book with 5 stars as the Oregon Coast beckons within the pages, and you will almost hear the seagulls calling.

A well-written contemporary romance set on the lovely Oregon coast!
An abandoned lighthouse in need of repair is the catalyst that brings hope, healing and love to two couples. The fourth book in the Hope Harbor series, this story easily reads as a stand alone.

"God's help desk is always open."

An enjoyable read from the bumpy start to the satisfying conclusion, the main characters navigate some rough waters in between. Prayer, humility, and lessons in communication help the pairs work out the problems in their relationships--one married, and one newly acquainted. Love all of the wisdom and insight from Charley the taco stand owner, almost like a resident prophet, also the added remembrances of Skip's lessons to a younger Ben. The bit of suspense later on helped keep the story going and worked well to add further depth to Ben and Marci's dilemma. It reminded me of the Bible truth of Romans 8:28, that God works all things for good for those who love Him.

Recommend for readers who enjoy a good contemporary romance with faith. 4.5 stars

I am not a lover of Mystery Suspense Novels, but I do love Irene Hannon's. Her writing is beautiful and solid story telling. She combines interesting romance with just enough suspense to keep you guessing until the last page. Pelican Point is the fourth book in her Hope Harbor Series. Even though this is a stand alone book, you will want to go back and read Hope Harbor # 1, Sea Rose Lane #2 and Sandpiper Cove #3 of this series. They are very well written and you will get background information you won't want to miss regarding some of the additional characters in this story. I cant wait for Hope Harbor, Driftwood Bay #5 book coming out in April 2019. If you have ever had the privilege of visiting Oregon's captivating coastal towns, you will really appreciate Irene's explicit definition of Hope Harbor. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone and the description given by the publisher is very abbreviated. With that said, I'll just say within the first few pages I was in tears. I did not want to put this book down. I would like to recommend this complete series, I believe you will enjoy it. Pelican Point is book four from Irene Hannon’s Hope Harbor series. I enjoyed this story. It was fun to see how Ben and Marci interacted with one another. I loved how the town lighthouse brought them together. The story was a little predictable but still worth a read. I definitely cannot complain about Being taken away to this beautiful setting.

I recommend Pelican Point and give it four stars. A great addition to the series.

I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

I really liked Ben and Marci's story and it was nice to return to a familiar setting with old friends. I especially love Charly and his taco truck. And I love the relationship between the priest and the pastor in town. They crack me up!

I hope that in future books in this little town we'll see more of this lighthouse all restores. I love lighthouses and I was hoping to see a little bit more of it. But I really love the way the town banded together and worked together for the best of the community.

Ben was by far my favorite character. From his first interaction with is neighbors to the way he treated Marci I loved everything about him. But after Ben my favorite was Rachel. For a side character, I felt she almost outshown the others. She was an amazing and dedicated wife. And I loved watching her and Greg's relationship throughout the book.

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Pelican Point is a continuation of Ms. Hannon’s series of Hope Harbor. I have read some of the Hope Harbor books, but not all. This book made me want to go back and read the ones that I have not read. In this book, you will see a peak into some of the characters from the earlier books. This book focuses on Ben and Marci and the story of a lighthouse. There are also great secondary characters that you see what can be achieved when you are positive and helpful to those around you. Ms. Hannon is one of my favorite authors, and I especially love her romantic suspense books. This romantic tale is a great addition to any reader’s library. I highly recommend this book!!! If you have read her previous books, you will like this one. If you have not read any of her books, I encourage you to try this one!

My first thought upon getting into this was, "Cool - I'd love to own a lighthouse!" As the story progresses though, I'm now thinking not-so-much. It takes a lot of money and effort to keep it up...and that's just one of the things that the main character struggles with in this story. He has a lady who won't leave him alone, and he's just lost his rock, his grandfather, but he overcomes all of this and ends up with more happiness than he imagined by the end. There is a lot of fighting...after all, passion takes many forms! The two characters butt heads constantly, and you can only hope that they don't kill each other before the end of the story. Each has personal reasons for their actions, but they come to learn from each other. I love how the setting is developed -- you actually feel as though you're in coastal Oregon. Also, while this is the fourth in a series, it reads well as a stand-alone.

Pelican Point is the fourth book in the Hope Harbor series but not the last according to the author's note in the back of the book. Hope Harbor is a great sounding place on the Oregon coast that would be an interesting place to visit with the scenic views, fun food and general small town atmosphere. This is the story of Dr. Ben Garrison, newly retired army orthopedic surgeon, who has returned to bury his grandfather, beloved resident, Ned "Skip" Garrison. There are some things that were going on in Skip's life that Ben wasn't aware of, one is that Skip had purchased the Pelican Point Lighthouse. Now Ben owns the lighthouse but he intends to sell it. His plans include joining a medical practice in Ohio. Ben didn't expect to come up against Marci Weber, owner of the local newspaper. Marci feels that the lighthouse needs to stay intact for its historical value and what it has meant to the town. It is fun to see the two tangle and get to know each other and to see where their journey takes them. There are many hurdles along the way. Both have issues from their past to overcome. Another couple has some issues to overcome--Greg and Rachel Clark are dealing with problems after a terrible injury that Greg sustained in combat in the Army. We see characters from the prior books in the series. Charley is always a wise person to everyone as he sells fish tacos from his truck. Faith always play a big role in the characters of books by Irene Hannon. This one is no exception. This a sweet romance with a little suspense thrown. Oh and what will happen to the lighthouse?
I was provided an ARC by Revell through NetGalley. This review covers my thoughts and feelings about the book.

I thought this romance was well written and the two couples interrelated stories really worked for me and kept me interested until the end. Irene Hannon is just good and talented creating setups and characters that feel real and believable, with those apparently simple moments which are yet full of meaning and pull us into the story.
Ben and Marci’s attraction develops steadily and gradually and its obstacles come from the most unexpected source. They’re both likeable characters and I enjoyed the way the author wrote their story thread, slowly making Ben divert from his original purpose.
On the other hand, I really enjoyed watching Greg and Rachel growing as individuals and a couple. The wounded warrior slowly healing, the emotional and psychological effects of his injuries both on him and Rachel are well dramatized.
It was also interesting to follow the community rallying around the lighthouse project and the cast of secondary characters, both contributing to the small town (Hope Harbor) setting appeal.

Pelican Point was one of my most highly anticipated reads of 2018 - and it did not disappoint. I have loved every single book in the Hope Harbor series. Each has been filled with stories of faith, love and a wonderful journey of discovery or change in life direction, and Pelican Point is no exception.

Dr Ben Garrison has returned to Hope Harbor in the wake of his beloved grandfather’s death. After just finishing a tour overseas as an army surgeon, his plan is to quickly finalise his grandfather’s affairs and move on to a new civilian position in the city. But when he learns his grandfather owns the town’s crumbling lighthouse his plans are delayed. Spurred on by the town’s fiery newspaper owner, Marci Weber, the townspeople want to save the lighthouse from destruction. As Ben and Marci are pushed together, there is a spark between them that is hard to resist - even if a relationship is the last thing in their plans.

Once again Irene Hannon delivers a sweet love story wrapped up in the comfort and caring of the delightful town of Hope Harbor and it’s eclectic residents. I love the way Marci and Ben meet: hero recusing a hurt kitten stuck up a tree or a dangerous intruder, wandering around the backyard? - it’s kind of hard to tell between the two at night. Marci’s strong emotions get her into trouble, but her compassion and caring nature balance that out. Both Ben and Marci are hurting from recent events in their personal lives. There is an undeniable connection between Marci and Ben, and while neither want to pursue it for various reasons, events keep pushing them together.

There was a touch of suspense in the last section of the novel, which really pulls everything together and makes for an exciting conclusion. I wasn’t entirely sure of the way in which mental health was used an excuse or causation for the malicious character’s actions. It seemed a little unfeeling or stigmatising, but it worked for the progression of the plot.

Despite everything that I loved about this novel, the thing I perhaps loved the most was the secondary story of Marci’s colleague and Ben’s neighbours, Greg and Rachel. They are a young, married couple whose marriage is struggling under the emotional fallout of an injury Greg sustained while serving overseas. Their story of reconciliation, gradual acceptance of outside support and their journey back towards a loving and supportive relationship was really powerful. Perhaps overcoming depression and the emotional fallout of such an event may not be so easy in real life, but it was a delightful addition to the Pelican Point story.

Pelican Point is a wonderful addition to the Hope Harbor series. This stand-alone novel is a delightful and engaging story of sweet romance and overcoming fears.

The publishers provided an advanced readers copy of this book for reviewing purposes. All opinions are my own.

I love Irene Hannon, but I had not read any of her new series, Hope Harbor. This is the fourth book in the series and it is just fine as a stand alone. I didn't feel like I missed out on anything in the previous stories. But I will be going back and reading books 1-3.

Pelican Point was a very good story and I enjoyed it very much. I felt the beginning was a bit slow, but it gained my attention quickly. The story centers around Marci Webber and Ben Garrison. Marci has not lived in Hope Harbor for very long, but she considers it her home. She lives a quiet life running the local paper and trying to forget the stalker from her past. Ben Garrison is an ex-army doctor on the cusp of a promising career. He is dismayed to discover that his recently departed grandfather has left him a dilapidated lighthouse. His only course of action is to sell the lighthouse as quick as possible and get on with his life. When Marci makes it her crusade to save the lighthouse from demolition, her and Ben have some disagreements.

As a side plot, Marci's assistant Rachel, is having problems with her wounded soldier husband. Greg is wounded in body and spirit and it's tearing their marriage apart. I liked the sweet story of their reconciliation and mending of their hearts.

Pelican Point is a good story filled with bad first impressions, romance, heartbreak and mystery. Irene Hannon is a very good writer. I recommend anyone to read Pelican Point!

HEARTWARMING!

Dr. Ben Garrison has just returned from active duty as a orthopedic surgeon. He has mustered out but before he can begin the next chapter of his life, he must return to Hope Harbor settle his beloved Grandfather’s estate. Sounds simple enough because his Grandfather “Skip” lived a fairly simple, frugal life. That is until Ben found out Skip left him the Pelican Point Lighthouse. While Pelican Point was full of history and sentiment it is now a crumbling old relic. What does a doctor do with a lighthouse? As a newcomer, Ben begins to discover what an important role Skip played in the lives of the townspeople. He also begins to understand the importance of Pelican Point. It’s a beautiful story of watching God do the impossible with willing vessels. It shows a community full of love and friends that support one another. Strangers become friends in the process of saving Pelican Point all manner of new and exciting possibilities are on the horizon. I was provided an ARC of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.

Pelican Point is another addition to Irene Hanon's Hope Harbor series. With it being contemporary romance, I knew the couple in question would fall in love through a number of obstacles and overcome them to be together for their happily ever after moment.
Hannon doesn't disappoint with creating her setting. As someone who has never seen the ocean, I can imagine the lighthouse on the shoreline and imagine the beautiful images captured by the mind. I had no problem coming right back into the story and the familiar settings since I have read all the other three Harbor Point novels.
A romance is going to have sparks flying and jumping around everywhere from the main characters. Marci is a strong heroine who fled something two years ago and is looking for a haven for her new life. She is succeeding quite well. Then walks in Ben, who has arrived in down to settle his grandfather's assets. Ben is a bland character, but may be just what some women like. But not me.
The plot has two main set of couples who share the limelight in the story. Both characters struggle. One is married and learning to live with their choices while Ben and Marci flirt with the idea of becoming a full-fledge couple.
The main problem I have with the plot is the death of Ben's grandfather. This grandfather meant A LOT to him. He can't stop mentioning when I first met him all his grandfather had done for him. As someone who lost her Dad 2.5 years ago, I was in a depressed mood for over a year and really couldn't move past it. I still think of my Dad and cry. Not Ben. Important up to the funeral, then he moved on. I wish Ben would have thought more on his grandfather and made the hurt more real. The renovation of the lighthouse and the romance between Marci and Ben took center stage.
Second, problem is the idea of Nikki. She makes a huge rift in the story, and Hannon makes important for a while, then Marci kicks in and ends the problem. Not Ben, whose problem it is anyways. The ending of this issue didn't satisfy me either. It was downplayed to end a lot to end the novel.
Overall, Pelican Point by Irene Hannon is a top notch contemporary romance happening in a romantic setting, but two issues with the plot keep me from rating it higher. I believe fans of Melissa Tagg, Becky Wade, and Karen Kingsbury would love this novel. It just didn't hit the mark for me.
I received a complimentary copy of Pelican Point by Irene Hannon from Revell Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

I love Irene Hannon's work. She proves adept at switching genres easily and holding her readers' attention while writing in different genres. I love Hope Harbor and if I could visit a fictional town, I'd love to be here for a while. We meet many old friends here in this book, including Charley the taco buy, who I'm convinced is a real angel on earth. Loved this book.

I am a huge fan of this author and eagerly read this newest installment of the Hope Harbor series. We get a check in with our favorite characters and get to know the publisher of the Hope Harbor newspaper in this book. And I do SO want to have tacos with Charley and figure out how he knows everything!!

Unfortunately, I feel this latest installment falls a little flat. Two of the plot threads - the attempt to save the lighthouse and the stalker plot - felt contrived. As someone working in the nonprofit world, getting your 501(c)(3) status is far more complicated and the whole fundraising scheme was like a fairy tale! If only it was so easy!. And with #metoo efforts to get people to take sexual harassment/assault seriously, I felt the use of a false claim of assault was just poorly timed.

The subplot involving a returning injured war veteran and the theme of finding a new career path did really resonate with me and make the book still worth a read.
