The book is a quick read that ends up being seriously sweet. It has some action but it's definitely a read heavier on romance. It would be great for a day at the beach or a couple of nights. I enjoyed this book completely from beginning to the end.
I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Great read. Alena attempted to kill Andre's father while at a dinner party. Yasha, Andre's father, had killed Alena's parents when she was 10 years of age, Her parents had been CIA /' Russian agents intent upon capturing and ending Yasha's reign of terror in the Russian Mob. Andre and Alena had already become emotionally / sexually involved before she attempted to posin Yasha that night. She failed and ran from the family thinking Andre would think she used him to get close Yasha.
Fast forward four months and the reader learns that Aleana is four months preganat with Andre's child. Andre has kept tabs on her for the last four months - he still feels for her. His dad is now dead and he can breathe easier - and run the businesses honestly now, The story some surprises in it - and I don't want to give any of the action away,

This novella follows Retribution, and while it can stand alone, you miss out on certain things.
In that story, we see sisters Alena and Nika playing the long game to kill the man responsible for killing their parents. Alena is dating that man's son, Andre. Andre is a good man, but his father is not. They are all at dinner when she attempts to kill Andre's father. (this is all from book 1)
In this book, Alena is obviously no longer with Andre. Using a man to get close to his father so you can kill him sort of does that to a relationship. Alena has stepped down from modeling and is primarily staying out of the limelight for a couple of reasons, but mainly it's because she's pregnant.
Andre sees Alena at a party and after seeing her nearly faint and hanging on the arm of her date, he follows her out. He overhears her telling her date that she's not ill, she's pregnant. He immediately knows the baby is his. He also knows that she may be a pretty little liar, but she's his pretty little liar and he isn't letting her go.
Now I love LOVE a betrayal plot. I love the redemption arc, and I liked that this time around it's the heroine who has to redeem herself. Although Andre was very grown up about the whole thing, so that made it easier. The thing is, Alena isn't the same girl he dated. He dated Alena the party girl supermodel. This new Alena, the Alena she hid from him, is sassy and talks back. He...likes her. He's learning who she is, and not who she wanted him to think she was. Now they have to relearn how to be together, and who they truly are. It's a second chance lovers trope and I loved it.
I like Katie Reus' books, and this had the added bonus of a trope I like, so it was basically my catnip. If you like bossy men with women who can stand up to them, if you like watching second chance romance, you will love this.

I didn’t realize when I read the previous book in this series that it was in fact going to be a series, but was thrilled to see that I would get to see not only Alena and Andre, but also her sister and new brother-in-law again. The series kicks off with the big secret that Alena has been keeping leading her back into the arms of her family and unintentionally back into the life of the one man she is in no way ready to reunite with. As soon as she sees him again she knows she is in trouble, but she brazens it out, until he discovers her secret and forces her to come back to him. Andre is obsessed with Alena, even though he really cannot understand why, until he find out she is carrying his child. Coming back together they are faced with the truths neither of them is ready for, but with the world around them clamoring for a piece of their romance, they are both going to have to decide where they stand as a couple and fast. I really enjoyed this story, even though it wasn’t as long as I would have hoped, and enjoyed reading every page. The magic of Katie Reus is that she can take her readers into any world and make them believe they are a part of it, whether it is the magic and danger of the paranormal or the glitz and danger of the Miami rich and elite. Alena is a woman that has to come to terms with the choices she made in her quest for vengeance and decide if she is ready to take a new path in life and I loved watching her go through that thought process to come to those decisions. She is smart, sexy, and brave, but she obviously needs to find her own inner strength in order stand up to Andre and be the match that he needs in order for them to be a happy couple. Andre has lived a life of danger and deception, but has found a way to live in the shades of gray and still maintain his own integrity. When he was faced with Alena’s deception, he felt betrayed and flayed to the bone, but knowing she was the one that got away left him a bit obsessed, so once she finally resurfaced he finally decides it’s time to bring her back into his scope—though his ultimate goal isn’t clear yet, even to him. A child changes everything for them both and soon Andre’s obsession turns to love and Alena’s love is no longer deniable. I enjoyed seeing both Alena and Andre evolve and come back together, dealing with their fear and issues, and finding a way to embrace their love and future. I know their won’t be more in the series, but I know there will be more contemporary love stories from Katie and I am dying for them. For fans of drama, love, emotional turmoil and sensuality, this story is unbeatable.

Tempting Danger is a sexy, emotional second chance for a couple with a complicated history.
Alena used Andre and faked a relationship with him all to get closer to his father, the man who killed her parents. She was motivated by vengeance and anger and knew what she was doing to Andre wasn't good, but she didn't care. Unfortunately for her, she found Andre to be nothing like she had expected, nothing like his evil father, and she ended up developing feelings for Andre. Alas, things naturally did not end well and they've been apart for awhile and figure they'll stay apart. And that was the way it was going until she found out she was pregnant. Will Andre be able to forgive her enough to coparent with her? Luckily Andre is intent on bringing Alena back into his life and not letting her go. Will she accept his sort of caveman-ish ways now?
The tension between the two was palpable and seeing them work things out was both passionate and a bit emotional. I felt for both of them and loved reading their journey. Tempting Danger is sexy and intense, and doesn't feel like it's as short as it is. It's not rushed or shallow at all, which isn't always the case with novellas. I'm hoping there's more to come in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.
Loved it!!!! The characters are so realistic and the plot is believable. I have to go back and read the first book of this series. It isn't necessary to read and understand this one but the plot and characters are so fantastic, it would be a shame not to. I just loved Andre. He was the perfect male protagonist. Alena was wonderful as well. I loved how well they communicated after seeing each other again. They did have issues but quickly worked through them. Some authors drag out the story by using miscommunication not once the story start, it wasn't an issue here. I liked that. I highly recommend this story to anyone.

Alena wanted to revenge her parent’s death and her target was Andre’s father.. When she was so close to revenging her parents death, she was pulled away from everything....
Now four months later, she is pregnant with his child. She doesn’t want to keep it a secret from him but she is waiting for a right time. Alena is heading to Miami to be with her sister and attend a party with her friend.
When she was at the party, she is overwhelmed with smell and her morning sickness and reveals she is pregnant to her friend and in front of Andre.
Ever since Andrew finding out Alena’s pregnant with his child, he is willing to everything to protect her and be with her. He understands why she had to do what he had to do and he thought relationship was over but nothing is over between them.
They still have feelings for each other and now they have to co parent. Alena is trying to stay low key but Andre has bigger plans for both and it surprises Alena.
Now they have to figure out if they still love each other and willing move forward.
It is short and I didn’t read the first one but story flowed without reading the first one.

This book was ok. I had a hard time getting into it. It ended ok. I felt very lost but having read the first book.

Alena was out for revenge in book 1 and almost put the happiness of her sister and her now fiancé in jeopardy. She used Andre to get close to his father, who had been involved in the deaths of their parents. But she did what no assassin should do, she fell in love with he asset!
Fast forward a few months and Nika and Declan are getting married and Alena has come to lend a hand. But she is not alone, a little surprise is tagging along with her! But how can she let Andre know that he is going to be a father when she knows for sure that he must hate the sight of her?
Andre has been keeping tabs on Alena since she left but he obviously wasn't keeping a close enough look at her movements! But he understands her need for revenge on his father, it's not like he loved him either, he just felt used. But once they meet again and he understands who now ties them together - he will do everything he can to win her back!
Alena and Andrew both suffer from quick assumptions, miscommunications and downright stubbornness! But they are a great couple. I loved his sneaky lo-jacking of her movements even whilst it would drive me cray -cray too! Alena is not after his money or fame - she has enough of her own.
Plenty of danger still around for Alena and I really enjoyed the way these two finally managed to weave their lives together.

TEMPTING DANGER is the perfect combination of protective alpha male and feisty, strong-willed woman in a sweet yet steamy offering. With the history of Andre and Alena (which began in RETRIBUTION, but fear not this is a stand-alone as enough background is given) you know there will be fireworks and there are. He might have understood her desire for revenge, but he felt hurt and used which is an alien feeling for him.
Alena never expected to fall for Andre, having no way of knowing he would be the polar opposite of his father and when the truth came out they both came out heartbroken. Now months later he finds she is pregnant and though she drags her feet, he is determined that they will be a couple that they will be a family. I loved the sweet romance of it, the genuine touches of emotion from both sides and, of course, author Katie Reus knows the right touches of steamy to satisfy her readers.
TEMPTING DANGER is a stand-alone novella, that will have you captivated and smiling as you read and all though not a holiday read it is the perfect size read for this time of the year.

There is quite a bit to enjoy in “Tempting Danger”, the sequel to “Retribution”. Katie Reus has created a beautifully crafted romance of a couple that need each other more than neither see. Alena Brennan and Andre Makarov could be enemies. Andre is the son of the mastermind behind Alena’s parents’ murder. Alena has used Andre as a means to an end to get to his father. He was collateral damage in her quest for revenge and she holds a lot of guilt for the way she used him. Her unplanned pregnancy makes everything even more complex, she doesn’t want to settle for being his obligation.
Andre can’t get Alena out of his mind. He has a lot of anger to deal with, but won’t take it out on her. She is vulnerable and it brings out his protective instincts. He is understandably wary of Alena, and yet they are more connected than ever.
This lovely second chance romance had me turning one page after the next. For a short read, it packed so much emotion, suspense and angst. The pacing was flawless, the love scenes were well written, and I felt the emotions of Alena and Andre as they battled their way to each other. I was fully invested in these engaging characters and truly wanted to know how things would end for them. I definitely recommend Alena and Andre’s happily ever after! This sequel to “Retribution” can be read as a standalone, but I’m sure you will want to go back and read the first book.

My biggest problem in this book was my own fault apparently. I am used to stand-alone books by Katie Reus and this one is not exactly an independent book. You should read Retribution before you get your hands on this one. During the whole time I was reading it I felt like I was missing something and judging from the blurb of the first book, my guess is all the events of Retribution. It wasn't a good time to not read the first book because this story is based on whatever happened there. I am not recommending to read this book as stand alone because it will ruin your reading experience and no one wants that. Apparently, we got to see Andre and Alena being in a relationship in the other book and in this one they are mending what Alena broke. The book practically fixes what was broken in the previous one. Despite my not so good connection with the book, I liked this one even though I gave it a low rating. I would have loved it if I knew better what went down between them. I am sure the readers who have read the previous book will love this one. I liked this kind of second chance romance.

I'm over the moon that Katie Reus finally revisited Alena and Andre. I loved Nika and Declan in Retribution, but the story never felt finished. I wanted to know more about Alena and Andre.
Nika and Declan found a way forward in Retribution. But how could Andre ever forgive Alena. While she fell hard for him, she started out using him so she could get vengeance for her parents death at his father's hands. When she discovers she's pregnant, the best she hopes for is a civil co-parenting relationship for the man she's deeply in love with.
Andre regretted sending Alena away immediately, but couldn't get around his anger and worry his father would exact revenge after the failed attempt on his life. Even when the threat disappeared with his actual death, he couldn't get past it. After getting the entire story, and finding out she was pregnant, Andre knows he's not letting go. There's no co-parenting option, it will be the whole package.
How can Alena and Andre find a way to move forward and truly trust each other? Reus once again crafts a story with both all the feels and a helping of danger. You're going to love how the story ends!

Ahhh I was so excited for Alena and Andre’s story and I was not disappointed! An exciting romantic suspense novel filled with a strong connection between the main characters and a well told story to follow up to Retribution!

Tempting Danger" was a great page turner and was easy for me to sit down and read it in one setting. A novella that does stand on its own, but I look forward to going back and reading 'Retribution', primarily because I want more of Alena, Andre, and company. Not sure how I even missed reading it. This story is filled with drama and heartbreak with great plot lines throughout with a satisfying HEA. It's also a sexy read as well. I have read many books by Katie Reus and look forward to reading many more. I would like to thank NetGalley and KR Press for gifting me "Tempting Danger". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 4.25 Stars!

TEMPTING DANGER is the second novella in Katie Reus’ contemporary adult RETRIBUTION romantic, suspense series. This is American model Alena Brennan, and casino magnate Andre Makarov’s story line. TEMPTING DANGER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Alena and Andre’s story line began in book one-RETRIBUTION.
SOME BACKGROUND: Years earlier Alena and Nika’s parents were murdered by four men from Russia, and in the ensuing time our heroine made it her sole purpose to kill the people responsible including the father of the man with whom she would fall in love.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Alena and Andre) TEMPTING DANGER picks up several months following the events of book one –RETRIBUTION-in which Andre Makarov discovered that everything about the woman with whom he fell in love was a lie. Hoping to end Yasha Mkarov’s life, Alena devised a plan to seduce our story line hero in order to get close to the man who ended her mother’s life. Fast forward four months wherein our heroine, who has been laying low, heads to Florida to visit her sister, only to come face to face with the man that she still loves. Enter Andre Makarov, the man who stole Alena’s heart, but the man Alena destroyed in the process. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Alena and Andre as they work together to forge a deeper bond with the impending birth of their unborn child, and the potential fall out when someone from Alena’s past seeks retribution for a perceive sin.
TEMPTING DANGER is a quick read; a second chance romance; a rekindling trope that focuses on forgiveness and understanding; retribution and revenge; falling in love and happily ever after. Nika Brennan and Declan Gallagher (Retribution #1) play secondary and supporting roles as the author revisits some of the events of book one, that will outline the reasons for the breakdown in Andre and Alena’s original relationship. The premise is revealing and entertaining; the characters are colorful and dynamic; the romance is sensual and seductive. There is a minimal amount of story line conflict between our leading couple; Andre easily and readily accepts Alena back into his life, and Alena is willing to acknowledge the potential damage she caused in her need to seek revenge for the death of her beloved parents. Katie Reus continues to pull the reader into story lines that will leave you breathless and wanting more.

Retribution, the first book in the series left a string or two dangling, not in a bad way but in a “I need their stories” way. Tempting Danger is more of a relationship driven story which threw me a little considering how action-packed the first book was, but I still enjoyed it. I would read these in order as events from Retribution weigh heavily here.
Because Alena started her relationship with Andre solely so she could use him to get a shot at killing his father, when her house of cards came tumbling down, Andre threw her out. No one, including me and Alena herself, blamed him for this even though they had developed feelings for each other. No matter how much his father deserved killing, being used is a hard pill to swallow for anyone, much less an alpha male. Fast forward a few months and it comes out that Alena is pregnant with Andre’s baby. Andre’s inner caveman comes out and he makes it clear he not only wants the baby, he wants Alena back.
The main focus of the book is Andre and Alena getting their shit straight after the events that happened in Retribution. Overcoming the beginning of the relationship being based on lies isn’t easy, but the added stress of the pregnancy makes it even worse. This is a book I wanted and am glad I got, but it ended up being a bit too slow for me to really get immersed in it. It was a decent read but I wanted more, something that doesn’t happen very often with Katie Reus’ books.
I’m still crossing my fingers we’ll get Declan’s brothers stories. The possibility of suspense with the touch of paranormal has me hoping we’ll be seeing them soon.
Rating: 3.5 Rough Start Stars

A good novella that you can read in one sitting. Alena used Andre in order to get close to the man that killed her parents. However, now that he is out of the way she's forced to face the fact that she hasn't been left without a souvenir: she's pregnant. And when Andre finds out all attempts at keeping himself from her and being angry are negated. He'll keep her and his child no matter what.
This novella really is full of a lot. I was actually a little shocked that it was over so quickly. Not that I was expecting more, but rather that so much happens in such a short amount of time. It's well plotted and succinctly written. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars probably has more to do with the fact that I hadn't read the novel before than this one.
Highly recommended!

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Alena was using Andre to get to his father.
Falling is love was never part of the deal.
Andre could not forgive Alena's lies.
Now, there are complications.
Would they be able to let go of the past to make a future together?
Will they give love another chance?
Drama + romance in one package.
Loved the storytelling + the characters!

Tempting Danger is the second book in the Retribution series. We meet Alena and Andre in Retribution. I really enjoyed theses stories they are a continuation, so it is important to read them in order to get the full enjoyment. I would definitely recommend this book and series
