loved this classic! A perfect reference book for the home chef and for any cooking (rather, salad making) enthusiast.
Salads are a healthy meal, be it a vegetable , fruit or any other salad it will be a greater option for weight watchers...........
Was really happy to receive this as I find historical cookery books fascinating, as they give us a really interesting perspective on daily life in the past. The recipes are also still relevant for us now, with some intriguing suggestions which I am keen to try in my own kitchen.
It is a privilege to have access to this 1914 classic of the culinary world. The recipes are classic and can give a special twist to any meal.
Now that I'm on a diet, this book was great. Help me to not be boring about what I eat, but just as an inspiration, 'cause I can0't follow the recepie as it appears, how sad is that? Anyway, is good as a guide
I love cookbooks from the past, like this one, for their insight into how people lived back then. Eating is such an important social activity, and I think of my great-grandmother making these recipes (or other recipes similar to them). Some of these I am happy to try making today (and are delicious), but others involve ingredients that I will leave to history (pigeons, aspic, calves' feet, etc.).
200 Ways to Make a Salad by Alfred Suzanne and Charles Herman Senn is subtitled The Handy 1914 Guide. You should not open this book expecting to find a modern day recipe book. However that does not mean it is not relevant. I marked several salads to make in my own 2018 household. It covers everything from green salads to meat to fish to finally fruit. If for nothing else, it is interesting to read recipes from 100 years ago.
I loved this book for its huge variety of salad ingredients and the prep of healthy dressings. A relief to read after the indulgences of the holiday season!
This was a great, informative read! It really gave me a lot of good ideas for healthier lunches. I enjoyed the writing, which was accessible, but also to the point. The recipes were all delicious (and I normally do not like salads very much). I will definitely buy a copy for friends and family.
I recieved a free digital copy of this book from Netgalley for an honest review.
There weren't any illustrations in my copy, just a short paragraph with ingredients and directions for each salad in the book. (Personally, I prefer my recipes to have the ingredients listed in a column so it's easier to make sure you don't miss any.) It was also a little clustered and could have used more space between the recipes.
Some of the salads sound interesting and I'll probably try a few. I like the different variety of choices throughout the book. There's choices of main meals, sides, simple and extravagant.
I was intrigued by the title and was not letdown when I read the book! I am always looking for a way to jazz up a salad so I don't get tired of the same old thing every time. Lots of great ideas here and I can't wait to try them out.
