If you need an entry into the poetry of Omar Khayyam, this is by far the loveliest way of doing it. And for those familiar with his work, this is a wonderful excuse to read it again! It feels like taking a step back in time; the illustrations are beautiful but feel old-fashioned and elegant at the same time. I can't attest to the translation, but it flows nicely and reads naturally.

This is a nely published version of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam as it was interpreted/ translated originally into English by Edward Fitzgerald. This version is a reprint of a 1909 edition which was beautifully illustrated by Edmund Dulac. The text is printed deliberately and moderately, written two quatrains to a page in a lovely, scholarly font. As to the accuracy of the translation, I cannot attest. But the book is beautiful to view.
