This novel is a great example of a psychological thriller that you can't stop reading! Cat is volunteering in London at a food bank, and engaged to Dominic a nurse. Right before their wedding strange experiences occur-someone rips her wedding dress up and covers it in blood, a snow globe that belonged to her deceased sister shows up at work with a eyeball in it? Who is doing these gruesome activities? Why won't Cat's parents ever talk about Rachael and how she died? I had a feeling about 1/2 way in that their would be a twist (and there is) but I had different scenarios picked out for the twist and wasn't sure which one it would be-which kept me reading!
Catherine has a good life. She volunteers. She was raised in a wealthy family. And she’s about to marry her fiancé. But a simple package arrives at work and drags Catherine back into her past. A past where her sister Rachel lived and tortured Catherine.

I gave this book four stars. I thought the plot was compelling and the book was a total page turner. There were multiple twists in the book— some I could guess and some I couldn’t. Though some I could, it happened sooner than I thought it would. Which was great because I needed to keep reading for the rest.

This was a great suspense novel and i would highly recommend.
Is love all that matters though? Is love enough? No matter who you are and what you’ve done?
What a thrilling ride! I was so excited when I got approved for an ARC of this book, because the cover along with the title and description really drew me in. I haven’t read this author before but as soon as I started the book, I was sucked in by the story and couldn’t wait to read more.
The characters are well fleshed-out and I absolutely loved the situation they find themselves in. The book was atmospheric, tinged with darkness and that dreadful feeling that something bad was going to happen, like a ticking timebomb. It’s one of those books you can’t put down at all until you’ve put all the pieces of the puzzle together.
The mystery and twists, albeit a little predictable, still managed to surprise and when all the details were laid out together I finally saw the real story before me. It was masterfully told and wrapped up so the reader absolutely had to know the truth. I’d be very surprised to see people DNF-ing this, because it’s so compulsively readable!
I struggled a little bit with the predictability – I think it was fairly obvious what the twist was, but the author did a good job of adding a storyline I never would have imagined, although I wish it had been a little more fleshed out.
All in all, a thrilling read that keeps you on the edge of your seat and will NOT let go until you’ve turned the final page.
Would recommend to: fans of domestic noir, authors such as Shari Lapena, Gillian Flynn and so on. If you loved this book I would also recommend checking out more offerings from this publisher! They have some amazing thrillers (and you can find a lot of them on NetGalley).
Rachel’s dead and she’s never coming back. Or is she?
As she prepares for her wedding to Dominic, Catherine has never been happier or more excited about her future. But when she receives an anonymous package—a familiar snow globe with a very grisly addition—that happiness is abruptly threatened by secrets from her past.
Her older sister, Rachel, died on a skiing holiday as a child. But Rachel was no angel: she was vicious and highly disturbed, and she made Catherine’s life a misery. Catherine has spent years trying to forget her dead sister’s cruel tricks. Now someone has sent her Rachel’s snow globe—the first in a series of ominous messages…
While Catherine struggles to focus on her new life with Dominic, someone out there seems intent on tormenting her. But who? And why now? The only alternative is what she fears most.
Is Rachel still alive?
My thoughts
Five stars
This one makes you think and drought yourself while your reading it, because it kind of plays with your mind. You start to ask yourself is Rachel alive or not, is it her or not . And so on, with that said I would love to say thinks to Netgalley for giving me a chance at reading it in a change for my honest opinion.
Thank you to Netgalley, the Author, the Publisher and Rachel from Rachel’s Random Resources for this review copy, given in exchange for an honest review. Also thank you to Rachel for organising the blog tour!
Catherine is getting married in a few weeks’ times to Dominic. Everything in life is good until one day she receives a package through the post. It contains a snow globe which belonged to her older sister, Rachel. Only problem is, Rachel died as a child, whilst on a skiing holiday. Catherine doesn’t remember much about Rachel dying, but she does remember that Rachel was a vicious and very disturbed girl and Catherine’s childhood was a misery because of her. Catherine tries to put the snow globe out her mind and focusses on her wedding, but other things begin to happen – all which evolve around her dead sister. There can only be one explanation – is Rachel still alive?
My first Jane Holland book, and I really enjoyed it. It’s a dark twisted tale of family lies and deceit. It’s a difficult book to review without giving anything away, but right from the beginning you know that Catherine never really knew how her sister died, so you know that there is going to be some big family secret. I just really wasn’t expecting what it actually was! Catherine volunteers in a food bank, not really needing a paid job as her family are wealthy and she is supported financially by them. She is a good person, wanting to help those who come in for food and support. Her fiancé, Dominic, seems a good man also, being a nurse at an A&E department. Despite all these good things they do and the good people that they are, you can sense that whatever happened to Catherine’s sister, Rachel, has been with her throughout her life and is still affecting her now.
I tore through this book so I could find out what was going on! I came up with my own ideas as I was going along and they were all wrong! I thought the big twist would be when it was all revealed about Catherine’s sister, but no….the twists and reveals kept coming with a great finale to end it all. A great chilling psychological thriller which I would definitely recommend!
