Sweet and endearing, this book gives hope to those that believe in love but haven't found that special someone just yet. Greer and Ford had a sweet connection coupled with chemistry.
I read the first book in the series and was on the fence, but decided to give the sequel a chance. I did really enjoy the setting and descriptions of Charleston from the first book. In that aspect, Kramer excelled and made me feel very much a part of the book. Given that, I went into this with a fresh set of eyes.
And I was disappointed. This time there wasn't even the beautiful Charleston descriptions to give it a lift. Right from the beginning I had a hard time connecting with Greer in that she works with her best friends but was keeping a couple major secrets from them. One being she kept these perfect wedding scrapbooks. Nearly two dozen. That secret is revealed when she goes to an auction to purchase the wedding dress of her dreams - which was also another thing she did in secret. It wasn't even that the dress was so gorgeous to Greer, or that she'd been planning to purchase this exact dress. It just had an interesting royal history, thus called Royal Bliss. I didn't mesh with Greer going against so many of her own personal stances and beliefs. No, Greer isn't getting married. She is entirely single, which was also what made it odd to me.
At the auction, Greer meets Ford Smith, who is actually Stanford Elliott Wentworth Smythe, the Eighth Baron of Wickshire. He is an artist who has traveled to the U.S. to dedicate himself to his art after his engagement ended when his fiancé sleeping with a groomsmen. Trying to recover and create pieces for an upcoming Manchester show, Ford is struck by Greer. Later it is revealed that he noticed Greer on the street prior to the auction. Basically he followed her in.
Greer and Ford both have ex drama, and it turns out Greer's ex and new girlfriend know Ford! They all run into each other, once again on the street. Greer is floored to learn her ex is moving to town. Why her town, of all places?
Greer's arch nemesis, Pierre, a local women's shop owner, wins the dress at the auction and is quite ostentatious in rubbing it in Greer's face. Knowing she desires it, he devises a bridal contest to launch his the bridal department he plans to add to his store. Five couples will wind up competing for Royal Bliss. Greer decides to enter - sans partner. In the face of disqualification, Ford agrees to be her sidekick through the events to ensure she has a fair shot at winning the dress. Meanwhile, he has his own issues to deal with with his ex across the ocean. At first I didn't believe her news was actually true. I thought it was just a ruse and a ploy to get Ford back, given how nasty she was described. I was wrong, and by the end I was shocked at the sudden about-face that she makes. That was uncharacteristic and too neat to wrap up that sub-plot.
The second half or so of the book was predictable, unplausible, and too neat in general. It didn't provide the luster I was hoping for or the second chance for me to find a redeeming quality in this series. There was also an upend with Greer's ex, Wesley, and his fiancé. Something that turned the contest around and changed the outcome, as well as my own beliefs about some of the characters and their motivations. Again, things not aligning with everything we understand about a character and their beliefs. Not to mention Ford lies to Greer at every opportunity about who he really is.
However, there are several supporting characters, including the above mentioned villain (and his own henchman sidekick who is a hooker, for lack of better term), Greer's ex and his fiancé who are super cute. Then there is another shop worker who turns traitor and helps Greer out in the end. The other ladies in the contest are (mostly) sweet and kind to Greer and they develop some true friendships. Of course, Miss Thing also steals the show every time she shows up. I do love that lady!
I was impressed with the character growth of the villain, and I thought Ford's assistance (errr, pressure) in the matter really helped him a lot. For a foreigner and virtually a stranger, Ford was uncanny in being able to understand Pierre's hidden feelings and conceptions about himself and his role in life.
I am pretty sure the next book will feature the third employee of Two Love Lane, Ella Mancini. I hope the series doesn't end there, though. I would love for Jill's story to be fully featured. We got some insight into that in this book, but it was a glossy sub-plot and I'm not sure why it was even included. I also want to see Miss Thing get her own book, even if she doesn't find a new love. If it is only about her life now, I'd be happy with that. And now, with the introduction of the La Di Da store, I want to see Henny get her own story as well as see Pierre get his own story. I hope he will now be added to the series, even if it is just as a side-character in the future books.
She was forever a matchmaker without a match to call her own. Greer desperately wanted a wedding gown. It wasn’t just any wedding dress. It was the one she coveted and dreamed of. There was only one problem...she wasn’t even engaged or had a boyfriend. She was definitely planning ahead. Then she meets Ford, who is truly not what he seems. Will he capture the matchmaker’s heart or will it all far apart when she finds out he is not who he says he is.
A pleasant and entertaining love story that's perfect for when you don't want anything too taxing.
A Wedding at Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer is the second book of a series that spotlights Greer, a matchmaker at Two Love Lane in Charleston, South Carolina. I did read the first book, Christmas at Two Love Lane, but I am confident one could jump right in with this story and not feel that they were missing anything. Although, I would highly recommend reading the first book for more backstory - and it was fun. I enjoyed this book and the storyline with Greer and Ford, but didn't care for many of the other characters. Pierre was downright annoying and irritating, I do not care one bit to learn anything more about him. I also found the super small storyline of Jill, one of Greer's clients, to be unnecessary since so little was told, maybe we will hear more in book three. Jill's business seemed super lame to me as well. The Baywatch poster made it quite unrealistic, who would agree to that? As I said earlier, this is a cute story, but because of the distracting peripheral characters, I am giving this book a 3.5 rating. I am looking forward to book three of the series.
I haven’t found a contemporary romance in awhile with a couple that didn’t feel fake to me. This one disappointed me more than its predecessor. This story felt too contrived, unbelievable & over-the-top. The characters, for their ages (30ish), ended up in some juvenile-like situations. The premise for this series (three best girlfriends succeeding in a love match business) sounded cute and promising. But with this effort especially, I felt no connection to the couple or the plot. There was very little interaction between the girlfriends here (which the previous one did have), and I felt that could have added a saving element to it. Just not for me.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. This was my honest review. 2-3⭐️
An entertaining story about falling in love, conquering fears, and opening oneself up to possibility. I think I would have preferred more focus on their relationship rather than their sex life, but it was still a nice story.
I didn't care for this one, as is fairly evident by my rating on it. I don't like to give books low ratings but I also have to be honest about how I personally felt about the book. That's not to say that others won't like it (it has a fairly high average rating on Amazon) but just says that I didn't care for it based on my own tastes. This would be a good book for someone who likes a love story and is looking for a book that is a light read full of quirky characters. That being said, these were a few of the things that I personally did not care for about the book:
-The main character was supposedly this smart tech geek who created an algorithm for her match making company, and yet she talked constantly like a complete ditz and it was really jarring for her character to be such too polar opposites
-I could not get on board with a lot of what was going on in Greer's life. She has a call with her parents that makes her start to feel like a loser for being single and makes her question herself which I didn't agree with. I tend to like stronger female leads who are secure in who they are first and are looking for a partner to complement them, not necessarily complete them
-There were a lot of plot points that didn't make logical sense to me. There was just a whole lot going on in this book and not all of it got resolved. What ended up happening with Teddy? Why did Ford renege on his promise to have a painting for this fancy show, won't there be a lot of repurcussions for that? And who in their right mind asks a complete stranger to split a bid at an auction over $5,000 for a dress and tell the male stranger that if you win you can share it? That one really just floored me.
So overall suffice it to say I didn't end up enjoying this one. Not that it was bad, just that too many pieces of the story line and the characters didn't fit for me.
I liked this book from the beginning. It was a very fun read. The characters are different and interesting. I would like to meet any of them. It was a good lesson about forgiving yourself and what you really want.
A Wedding at Two Love Lane, once I got into it, was a fun, light and charming read. It's just the thing for a cold winter night!
The story revolves around Greer, a matchmaker, who covets a vintage wedding gown. She runs into all sorts of adventures trying to win it, including a few minor altercations with a shop owner and a hilarious with a hunky Britisher who is just trying to stay out of her way!
All in all, I really enjoyed this novel. It might have been helpful to read the previous book in the series first, but I don't think it's a big issue,
I received this book from NetGalley and St. Martin's Publishing in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second in the "Two Love Lane" series. It's a romantic love story about Greer. She is one of the owners of "The Two Love Lane" matchmaking agency, in Charleston. Ford is English and an artist, he is a visitor to Charleston and when he meets Greer, he instinctively knows he needs to paint her. Sparks fly between them making for a lovely story!
3.5 stars
I love the concept of this story. It was sweet and charming and romantic. I love that Greer fell in love with a vintage wedding dress and wanted it even when there was no groom in the picture. She loses the bid on the dress to a jealous asshat competitor who buys it just so that Greer can't have it. If she wants the dress, she has to join a competition to win it. No groom, but she wins a spot on the competition with the help of Ford, a Brit artist she just met. The story is a lot of fun and I loved the idea of the dress so much that I wanted to see it. I didn't like some of the secondary characters and it took me a bit to warm up to Ford, but I think on the whole that the story was fun and engaging.
Book two of Kieran Kramer's Two Love Lane series focusing on Greer Jones and Stanford Elliott Wentworth Smythe, the Eighth Baron of Wickshire, or Ford for short. I find myself really liking this series the cast of characters are fun and so likeable it's easy to get absorbed into their world. This one is funny and Ford is so sweet at times. I liked that their romance and seduction took a little bit to get into, they took their time and got to know one another first before sleeping together, but not keeping them from fooling around and doing everything but that. Two Love Lane is a matchmaking agency between the computer algorithms and Macy being part cupid Elle, Macy, and Greer have made a name for themselves as the go to for finding your true love.
Greer Jones has been planning her wedding since she was a little girl. For Greer it has to be perfect, that means the groom too. When her high school sweetheart and long time boyfriend proposed she realized they really were not right for each other. Here she is four years later still getting grief from her parents about not marrying him and the fact that he's marrying someone else. Greer is truly happy for him if not depressed that she's still alone but for him she's happy they are both doctors and just perfect for each other. Until she finds out that they are having the wedding in Charleston and moving here.
Ford Smith is in the states to find his muse. As an artist he knows he paints well but there is something missing from his painting. He's in a funk and hopes that a change of scenery might help. In Charleston he finds his muse, the woman he wants to paint more than anything else. Now the tricky thing how's he going to meeting her, so he follows her. He follows her into the auction house and he does met her when she starts bidding on a wedding dress and accidentally sits in his lap. They are formally introduced when Greer runs into her ex and his fiance whose friends with Ford.
For Greer that wedding dress was the epitome of the perfect wedding dress. It didn't matter that she wasn't currently engaged but she planned to be someday. Unfortunately she was outbit by the prissy, stuck up, metrosexual Pierre Simons. Pierre will do anything if it hurts Greer after all they couldn't find him a love match at Two Love Lane, and has therefore set out to ruin them and this dress is just the icing on the cake. Pierre decides to make it a contest, for brides to get the chance to win this spectacular wedding dress. That's not going to stop Greer she enters anyways. It's clear that Greer has no chance at winning unless she has a partner Ford steps up to the task, and in return Greer agrees to model for him.
Overall, this was such a fun read. Aside from all the contest fun Greer and Ford go through and falling in love there is a side story that Greer helps along (love the Nodding Hill reference) with Elle's sister. While Greer is faced with her baggage and deals with it head on, Ford is slow on the up take, it takes a bit for his to realize why he won't admit to actually being in love with Greer. But when he does he goes all out.
I absolutely LOVE this Book! I fell in love from the first few pages and it held my attention throughout the whole story!😍 This was a sweet contemporary romance with great characters and a well written plot! I fell in love with the story and stayed up all night reading it. #WorthIt
The thing I LOVED most about this story is that it takes place in Charleston, South Carolina! I was born and raised in the Charleston area and knew all of the places that were mentioned!!!😄
The descriptions were perfect! I lived on an apartment right next to the maon character on Colonial Lake, which is more like a giant pond, when I was younger. I was born at Medical University of South Carolina and so was my youngest and that was discussed in the book. So pretty much, I felt a connection with this book in a way.
Besides the setting, I just felt this was a very sweet romance and highly recommend it!💖💙💚💛💜
Greer Jones struck me as a beautiful, hopeless romantic. Even after she had broken up with an ex, she still wanted to get married and wear that marvelous wedding gown she'd been dreaming of since she was younger. Running a dating service with her friends, Greer rationalized everything about interested lovers so they could end up together. But when she found her ex-lover making wedding arrangements with his new fiance, she had to show everyone that she was okay with it. Easy, right? Or so she thought.
That's where Ford Smith came into the picture and swoop the damsel in distress. Pretending to be engaged with Greer was nothing sort of magical, in his opinion. But sensing that Greer knew nothing about him or his nobility, him being the real Stanford Elliott Wentworth Smythe, the Eighth Baron of Wickshire.. All too soon, things had come to exciting twists and turns. And that was how the ball got rolling and prancing at Two Love Lane.
This has been utterly sweet and romantic. Sure I'd been reading a lot of fake engagement stories lately, but I don't mind, because each story has its own unique plot, and this book by Kieran Kramer sure got me giggling and gushing like a lovestruck fiance. I loved Greer, a techie and a sweetie at the same time. She was one helluva girl when she's on an auction or just when she's fighting for what she really wants. I loved that she and Ford didn't fall instantly with each other, their relationship grew and they let each other consider everything before delving to a more mature bond.
I've always liked the fake romance storyline, so this book, A Wedding at Two Love Lane is a win!
A Wedding at Two Love Lane is very well written. I loved the characters and the story. Couldn't put this book down. A new author to me and I will be reading more of her work in the future. I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy a good romance.
I fell in love with the ladies of two love lane when I read Christmas at two love lane. And couldn't wait to see how each of them fall in love. For Greer to be planning her wedding before she even has a man in her life just shows her strength. She is such a wonderful woman and I love how she falls in love.
A funny and whirlwind romance in one of my favorite cities, Charleston, South Carolina.
Greer Jones is a single career woman, a partner in a matchmaking business with two close friends Ella and Macy. Their office manager is their good luck charm and master of anything she attempts, and her name is Miss Thing. Greer is the brains of the business, computer whiz with a degree from MIT. Her secret hobby is planning her own wedding, which she has been doing for years; pictures, scrapbooks and files continually being added to. She is attending a charity event that is auctioning off her dream wedding dress, Royal Bliss. Battling with her for the dress is Pierre Simons, a local fashionista who has a grudge against Greer’s business because they never found him a match. He wants to grab the dress right in front of her nose. Sitting next to Greer is a handsome Brit, who doesn’t understand her deep passion for the dress.
Ford, (Stanford Elliott Charles Wentworth Smythe, Eighth Baron Wickshire)
is in Charleston with friends searching for his perfect model for the next portrait to be displayed in London. He is immediately fascinated by Greer, not only for her looks but her passion. It turns out Pierre is hosting a contest to award Royal Bliss to a woman who wins. Needless to say Greer is on it, and Ford agrees to help if she models for him. Seems simple enough.....until she meets his friends, her ex boyfriend Wesley and his bride to be Serena, Pierre’s determination to not let her win, and her deepening feelings for Ford. Meanwhile lots of subplots are brewing in the background.
I really enjoyed the basic story, and crazy wonderful characters. For me though the subplots seemed a little too much and really didn’t contribute to the story. I found them to be a little distracting. That being said, this contemporary romantic novel is a fun read.
I received this novel from the publisher and Netgalley for review.

Greer Jones is managing a matchmaking agency and planning her perfect wedding. She has dreams of romantic love and of a soulmate connection. Even though she has not found the one yet, she is in a contest for the perfect wedding dress. A mysterious stranger wants to help her out. Stanford Elliott Wentworth Smythe, aka Ford Smith, is an English baron, who came to the US with the intention of experiencing life as a regular dude in Charleston. He was trained to be wary of people who might try to capitalize on his connections and position in society. Yet, he trusts Greer and the artist in him wants to know more about her.
This is a story of new beginnings with two characters finally ready to embrace life in all its promise and fullness. My main issue was a total lack of connection with the characters. Their story was sweet, but not for me.
This is the second in the series set at Two Love Lane in Charleston and it's the story of Greer Jones and her secret obsession with planning the perfect wedding. Her life changes dramatically when she spots a wedding dress, "Royal Bliss", as an auction item at a charity fundraiser and she knows that she must have the dress at all costs. Ford Smith (aka Stanford Wentworth Smythe, Eighth Baron of Wickshire) is also at the auction, but he's interested in Greer and wants her as the subject of his next painting. Now add in the discomfort of meeting her ex-fiancée and his future wife into the mix, and Greer's life will never be the same.
It was great fun going through the reality contest process with Greer and Ford and also learning about Jill, Greer's client and Ella's sister. What a great romantic comedy!
Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an ARC; all opinions are my own.
