This novel was by far my most favourite in this series. You have Southern drama, a British baron, the most amazing wedding dress and a whole lot of schemes!
You can't help but love Greer - she is a woman who knows her mind and is not ashamed of it at all. She has been planning the wedding of her dreams her whole life, regardless of the fact that she had no groom. She receives flack for this but she still continues on. In the beginning of the novel, we find that she had refused a marriage proposal from her long time boyfriend, which personally I find amazing. She knew in her heart marriage to him was not right and instead of going along with the flow, she trusted her heart and ended the relationship (this is important to the plot later on!). Greer does not quite fit in with the other Southern belles and I love her character for her uniqueness, her loyalty to her friends and her desire to find true love.
She meets Ford, a handsome artist with a background that he is not quite willing to reveal. He allows everyone to believe that he is a starving artist and a very talented artist. From the moment he meets Greer he is drawn to her. He originally wants to just paint her but realizes (very slowly I might add) that there is something special about her.
Their feelings and beginnings of a relationship play out in the background of a crazy contest to win the wedding dress of Greer's dreams. The pair come together in a staged engagement in order for Greer to win the dress but instead of winning the dress, they learn many valuable lessons along the way including forgiveness, healing and hope for the future.
This was an amazing novel from start to finish that had me laughing, shaking my head and keeping my fingers crossed for the best!
Delightful story of a matchmaker who wishes for a mysterious wedding dress and finds love while in pursuing the dress in a fun couples contest set in Charleston, SC. Very fun.
This is the second book in the Two Love Lane series. In the first book Macy finds love and now it looks as if it could be Greer's turn!
The entire funny, quirky, and charming characters that make up Two Love Lane are back and they haven't changed a bit! I love every one of these characters.
The future bride contest to win the Royal Bliss gown, a wedding gown with a magical history, is narrowed down to five women. One of whom is engaged to Greer's ex! They must all compete in three challenges and the winner takes the dress.
Now the only issue is who she can persuade to be her pretend groom. And when it comes down to decision time, will she choose the dress or the Englishman?
Lovely story! This one comes out January 02, 2018 St. Martins Press/Netgalley
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started reading this book, but I was quickky drawn in. The characters are fun and a little quirky, but definitely likeable. Greer works for a matchmaking company, but to the dismay of her mother has not had a prospect of a husband since she broke up with her hometown boyfriend and rejected his marriage proposal. She goes to an auction and falls in love with a wedding dress which someone else wins, and meets a handsome stranger there. Later that day, she runs into her former boyfriend and his new fiance who have since moved to Charleston, and they also happen to be with the handsome stranger, named Ford.
Greer becomes involved in a competition to win the wedding dress that she lost in the auction, and she is competing against her former boyfriend's fiance to win it.
I enjoyed Ford and Greer's budding romance, and also the comraderie of the women in the story. I may have given it 5 stars, but felt there were a few loose ends at the end of the story that I felt should have been wrapped up (like how do things end up with Teddy), and the sudden conversion of Greer's rival Pierre seems too fast and unlikely.
A Wedding at Two Love Lane by Kieran Kramer is a wonderful tale. One woman's journey to finding a husband. A man finding the right woman to love for the rest of his life. The story was believable and sweet. Engaging, funny, sad, and heartfelt to read. I loved following Greer, a matchmaker, who matches everyone by herself. Ford is wealthy and artistic. He almost married the wrong woman and may be the father of her kids...but meeting Greer changes everything. An emotionally entertaining story that readers like myself won't ever forget. From going about each day in a ritual to living life fully and finding adventure. Hope, love, and happy beginnings are found, here. Overall, I recommend this enchanting novel to readers everywhere.
I enjoyed my first book by this author. The story was interesting and fun with some very eclectic characters that were entertaining.
What a crazy cast of characters this gang makes! Everyone is so eccentric on different levels and it all combines for an outrageous story that is fun, sweet and romantic.
Greer Jones is a strong and independent woman who is a romantic counseling guru yet fails to have that in her own personal life. Falling head over heels in love for a wedding dress called Royal Bliss, Greer embarks on a journey that leads her straight to royal bliss! Ford Smith seems to be just an average Brit visiting the States to spark his creativity in painting after a bitter breakup. These two are drawn together like magnets and keep running into each other all over the city. Soon they reach an agreement that Ford will be Greer's partner in a contest to win the prized wedding dress while Greer agrees to sit as Ford captures her beauty on canvas.
This story is fast paced with tons of action to entertain and emotional enough to keep you satisfied. From the catty female contestants to the evil Pierre the bridal gown contest is a story in and of itself. The gang from Two Love Lane are hilarious with their Price is Right adventure and then a love story leading to a quick trip to NY, what a group of women.
While everything is fun and adventurous at the heart of the story is the romance and true soul mate feeling you get from Greer and Ford. Enjoyable read!
3.5 stars
I liked Greer. She was smart, fastidious, and friendly. Basically, Greer is the reliable friend you’d call because you know she’ll always answer. Her one crazy quirk was her Perfect Wedding scrapbook! Forget the groom, this chick has her entire dream wedding laid out to the tiniest detail! The groom is really more of an afterthought.
Ford, who also has an extensive name and title, is...I’d say incognito. He was left at the altar by his conniving bride and groomsman and has hightailed across the ocean to find his next artistic model. I liked him, but he didn’t leave a lasting impression on me, and this point is driving me nuts because I really, really, wanted to like him!
There’s a lot going on with a variety of characters. They were all very entertaining in their own ways and I admit their drama kept the story moving along. However, the busyness also overwhelmed the romance. It felt like I was reading a panoramic story where I would zoom in on someone for a bit the. zoom out to find another person to focus on. I just found that to be very distracting.
To round things out; the story itself is good. The supporting characters are hilarious and some characters do stand out more than others, but that’s half the fun! I just think this particular story was not my cup of tea with all the drama going on.
