I received a free electronic copy of Best Friends Forever by Margot Hunt from NetGalley for my honest review.

This book is an edge of your seat thriller that will keep you guessing to the last page. I was absolutely blown away by the depth of this book and it's characters. A story of two women, Kat and Alice and their friendship. But do not mistake this friendship for just a simple friendship. There is so much more to this friendship, twists, lies, money, greed and death. Even when I thought I had this book all figured out the last chapter threw me for a mind blowing turn that blew my mind completely. You have to read this book. Extraordinary!

Fascinating and enthralling book that kept me involved right to the end.

I thought this was an enjoyable read exploring the dynamics of different relationships - family, romantic and friendships. I liked the different characters but would have enjoyed more backstory for Kat to help the reader to understand her motives and thoughts about herself and others as I thought this was skimmed over towards the end. Overall, a gripping read and I would read further books by this author.

If one of my favorite authors gives a book a glowing blurb, you bet I’m going to read it! Peter Swanson (The Kind Worth Killing) said Best Friends Forever by Margot Hunt, “Kept me guessing till the very end” and I have to agree.

This was a great book, a suspenseful story about two friends. When Kat’s husband is found dead, an apparent murder, Alice gets pulled into the investigation. Is she a suspect? And how well does she really know her best friend of three years? Did Kat set her up?

Best Friends Forever is brilliantly written and one of my favorite books of this past year.

Alice thought she knew everything about her best friend Kat, from the secrets of her wealthy family to the fact that behind closed doors Kat’s husband Howard is a drunk and a bully.

But now Howard has been found dead, having plunged to his death from the balcony of their highly desirable mansion, and the police are convinced he’s been murdered.

So why in her time of need has Kat stopped answering Alice’s phone calls and texts. Why won’t Kat’s family allow Alice to visit her anymore? And why are the detectives looking directly at Alice in relation to Howard’s death?

This is one of those books that you read in a single sitting because you really want to know what happened!

I absolutely loved this and what a great twist , I really didn't see it coming . Alice and Kat are best friends , tho Kat is rich and from a wealthy family ! Alice and her husband are struggling to make ends meet. When Kats husband falls to his death the police suspect Alice and Kat and her family have cut her out of their lives . Really enjoyed the story unfurling as the two women meet in an airport 3 years previously and the story of how their friendship progressed really had me turning the pages ! Brilliant ! Thank you

Best friends forever by Margot Hunt.
Detective Alex Demer and sergeant Sofia Oliver arrives at Alice Campbell home. They wish to talk to her about her friends Kat husband. They say he was murdered? Was it Alice or was it Kat? Omg. What a fantastic read. A twister of a read. I did not see that coming. 5*.

This book is one of those novels you can't put down. Started reading last night and finished it up this morning. There is a lot of suspense and some surprises. The author did a great job of defining Alice and Kat's friendship. The chapters switching from past to present were well done also. I really did not expect the ending at all!Well done.

I have to give credit where credit is due.

The author played me. When I realized what she had done, I was completely gob smacked. She did it fairly. There things all through the story that just bugged me, but I never put it together.

Brava.

I was entertained by this book, even as I found myself disliking most of the characters. I found myself really bugged by how neatly people allowed themselves to be manipulated. My lack of character love perhaps made the story a little less enjoyable, but it was still highly suspenseful and engaging. I needed to know what was happening…even though I thought I already did. (I was wrong, wrong, wrong!)

An entertaining story and, nope...didn’t see that coming!

I received an ARC from NetGalley to read and review. The below is my honest, unbiased opinion. Thank you, Margot Hunt, the publisher, and NetGalley, for allowing me to review.

How well do you really know your best friend?

Kat Grant and Alice Campbell have a friendship forged in shared confidences and long lunches lubricated by expensive wine. Though they’re very different women—the artsy socialite and the struggling suburbanite—they’re each other’s rocks. But even rocks crumble under pressure. Like when Kat’s financier husband, Howard, plunges to his death from the second-floor balcony of their South Florida mansion.

Howard was a jerk, a drunk, a bully and, police say, a murder victim. The questions begin piling up. Like why Kat has suddenly gone dark: no calls, no texts and no chance her wealthy family will let Alice see her. Why investigators are looking so hard in Alice’s direction. Who stands to get hurt next. And who is the cool liar—the masterful manipulator behind it all.

BEST FRIENDS FOREVER is a rare debut novel in that it has all of the items on my wishlist: fast-paced, excellent character development, a unique story line, and a one-sitting read. In fact, the writing was so captivating that after finishing the book I questioned how well we truly know anyone. It's rare to read a book and have its major themes sit with you for days after. I thoroughly enjoyed this one, and if you enjoy mystery and psychological thrillers, you will, too. 4.5 stars.

Loved this book. A five star recommendation. It was such a good thriller, with a strong plot and plenty of twists in it. A real page turner which had me hooked from the very first page.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Margot Hunt for the copy of this book. I agreed to give my unbiased opinion voluntarily.

3.5 stars. This was a clever, page-turnery psychological thriller that delves into a very twisted female friendship. I liked the present/past dual narrative, and seeing the progression of Alice and Kat's friendship. Definitely a fun read, and I'd recommend it to any fans of psychological/domestic thrillers.

I’m right back into my psychological thrillers right now having had a bit of a meh time about them where I felt I was reading the same story over and over again, so I made it a mission to seek out the ones that can surprise me. If you surprise me you get Brownie points. They are not worth anything but you know, it is fun for me.

Best Friends Forever did manage to surprise me. As well as that it was a brilliant page turner, with a couple of cleverly drawn main protagonists, a supporting cast of possibly nefarious bystanders and the story of one true friendship. Told from the point of view of Alice, who appreciates the light that friend Kat brings into her mundane family life, giving her a break, she begins to realise that perhaps Kat is not QUITE as friendly as she seems..

It is very gripping as we see the present Alice being interviewed by the police and the past Alice meeting Kat, becoming friends, all the ways their lives entwine – but underneath it all it is just a little off, not quite as bright and bubbly as it appears. Margot Hunt layers it well, genuinely keeping you guessing, especially in relation to the psychology of everyone in this – from Kat to Alice, from both the husbands to the extended family – in the end the outcome is highly effective and yes, unexpected although maybe not on the level you would think.

I like the clever ones. I like the ones that keep you reading bleary eyed into the night to see if what happens and if you’ve guessed correctly. I like the ones with characters that stand out and are not carbon copies of the last book you read in this genre. Best Friends forever scores highly on all of those therefore I will happily highly recommend it.
