Alli's book Fierce Faith is a breath of fresh air for anyone who has ever dealt with fears and anxiety. She draws out the truth in where our fears come from and help give us practical action steps to push through the worries. An added bonus is Alli's humor! Laughter is a great way to overwhelming feelings of uncertainty.
I appreciated Alli’s candor and found myself immediately engaged with this book.
Fear serves as a taskmaster that magnifies little things and makes False Evidence Appear Real – but Fierce Faith helps us to break through!
Fierce Faith is a book that will boost you into having fierce faith for your life.
This book has a chapter for every woman and every fear, from fear of failure to fear of the future. For me, Chapter 7 on the fear of betrayal changed my entire outlook on circumstances in my life over the past year. Alli writes "When our hearts become bitter and offended, we live life wounded and see every interaction through the lens of that pain." I've never read something that so clearly showed me that I was seeing parts of my life through a victim mentality so I could shift my thinking. Thank you Alli!
Fantastic read with practical steps to overcoming fear and anxiety. This is your battle plan for facing what life throws at you with God on your side.
Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for a free, ARC digital copy of this book.
I would have to say that this book is one of the best Christian non-fiction books I have read in a long time. The author, Alli Worthington, tells it like it is - faith is the opposite of fear! She provides a candid look into her own struggles with fear even when life crashed down on her. She also provides practical steps to overcoming fear in your life.
Highly recommend!!
I love Ali. She is so genuine and warm. She provides examples that are so relatable that you almost feel as though you've known her your entire life. I love how her examples are made to build you up and strengthen you. It's all about building each other up and creating this sisterhood of firiends that are there to help you grow. Thank you Ali for such an amazing book.
I loved this book! My word for 2018 is Brave and this book was just what I needed to read in preparation. It felt like Alli was speaking straight to me. So much truth, exposing of Satan's lies, encouragement, and reminders of who I am in Christ. This will be a permanent fixture on my shelf and be re-read whenever I want to be reminded that fear should not have a hold on me because of the power I have in Christ.
I am a HUGE fan of Alli’s first book Breaking Busy, and knew I’d enjoy this one, as well, and I did. Alli has such wisdom, but is so down-to-earth, and I love her writing style. The topic of Breaking Busy resonates(ed) with me a lot more than this one does, but it’s still a great book and one I’d recommend it to anyone.
I was able to read Fierce Faith for free from Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Many of us will not admit it but we all fear something or are anxious over the lack of control we have in our lives. This book provides a good balance for teaching and discussion with your life and with others. Is a quick/great read, it will challenge how you think after you read this book. This would be a great book for group discussion or bible study.
If I could give this book 10 stars I would! A must have on every Christian ‘s bookshelve . I enyoyed the stories and action plans on fighting everything that stands in your way of loving or trusting God. Even if you aren’t a Christian you should read this book.
I suffer from anxiety so this book was a Godsend. I learned ways to cope with my fears, something I was seriously lacking.
Fierce Faith
by Alli Worthington
Although we all know how to put on our “Sunday” faces for those who don’t know us intimately, we all have struggles of one kind or another. In her book Fierce Faith, Alli Worthington gets real with Christian women. She gives us a “battle plan against the fear, worry, and anxiety” that want to pull you down. She uses anecdotes to illustrate the kinds of battles that we face and identifies that the attack usually comes from the spiritual realm. She offers Scriptural promises and practical applications and ways of fighting back with a “fierce faith.”
Worthington addresses issues you may not even know you have because you avoid confronting them by strategies such as staying busy, bingeing on a variety of things, or becoming numb. I don’t consider myself a fearful person, but I got zinged a number of times as she addressed fear of betrayal, rejection, and an uncertain future. Some might identify with FOMO (the fear of missing out) which began with Adam and Eve but is put on steroids by social media. Fear of failure and not measuring up are other common forms of attack.
Alli Worthington offers practical help for common problems. She encourages the reader to trust God and explains how to do that. I recommend this book for all Christians regardless of where you are in your faith walk.
I would like to extend my thanks to netgalley.com and to Zondervan for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Rating: 5/5

Notes: The end of the book has workbook like pages to help the reader develop a person battle plan.

Memorable Lines:
Fear doesn’t have to stem from some catastrophic event that cripples us. Everyday worries can be as crippling as catastrophes. Fear often stems from small worries and anxiety that build up over time, eventually shutting us down or causing us to explode.
Sometimes the illness or disability isn’t cured, the financial hardships aren’t resolved, the bad news doesn’t change, but when we throw ourselves at Jesus’s feet, he gives us what we need to walk through our difficult seasons and to fight against the storms that darken our skies.
You can choose to believe the truth that Jesus has a purpose for you beyond your failures and allow him to rewrite your story. Our futures are already claimed by God; we don’t have to stay stuck in a cycle of fear and failure. Failure doesn’t have to be your story. He is still writing your story.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading "Fierce Faith" Alli created a battle plan to equip women to fight against the fears and anxieties that hold us back. Rejection, FOMO (fear of missing out), fear for our children. As Christian woman we are equipped to do battle and it can be as simple as asking 'So WHAT?' So what if I miss out on that promotion? Is my life over? No. Is it a personal attack on me? No... I loved the book and was highlighting over and over again
I don't think that I'm Alli's target audience for this. Or, at least, I didn't. I got the galley copy because I've enjoyed her books in the past and was invited to be part of the launch team, but once I read the description I wasn't sure it was in my wheelhouse. Anxiety? Fear? I'm a fun-loving, happy-go-lucky gal!
However, I can say that I definitely caught myself nodding along to this book over and over again, highlighting passages, and just generally devouring it like it was water of life. I did not expect this. Alli's writing has really matured over the past two years from her first book to this one, and I honestly believe this is a book for every Christian woman. Whether we admit it or not, we all fear something, and we all have a hard time believing, sometimes, the promises of God, and become anxious over our lack of control over our lives. You may think, like me, "fear doesn't rule my life, I don't need a book like this" but this book is for all the ladies. :-)
I began reading Fierce Faith right as the new year turned. With goals to be more intentional in my reading this year, I was excited to dive into a book that I thought was all about faith. But remember, I had failed to read the entire subtitle when I chose this book. It was almost as though God knew I would turn it away thinking I didn't need it if I had read the subtitle in the beginning.
Never one to quit on a book, I pressed on. And I'm glad that I did. I thoroughly enjoy Worthington's writing style. Last year, I read Breaking Busy for a book club and loved how Worthington approached a topic that is only now becoming more widely accepted - the need for us to rest. Now, Worthington lets us in on a new glimpse of her life. The attack that often comes as we step out in faith with a message from God and then feel the fear of that endeavor. The fear that can cripple us, dull our message of hope and keep us from living a full life.
Rather than letting us stay there, Worthington uses the pages of Fierce Faith to remind us that God has made us for so much more. She gives us practical steps into how to move through so many fears - from FOMO to rejection and failure, from our children to the fear of being hurt again. Worthington points us back towards scriptures and truth. She invites us to live our daily lives without avoiding those things that cause us fear.
I enjoyed Worthington's take on this topic. I was challenged to begin thinking through some situations in my life in a different way.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.
As a huge lover of Alli's previous book, 'Breaking Busy,' there was no question that I would be reading any and all future work by this author. But I was doubly (make that triply) excited to read this when I read the title and description.
Fear has been a huge struggle for me; one that I have worked hard to overcome. The problem is, I have tried to overcome it on my own, on my own strength. Not by the strength of my God. I feel like, with this book, Alli Worthington sat me down and shared some hard truths. Mainly, hard truths that she has had to learn, which in turn exposed the lies that I've let rule my every waking moment. With the same raw emotions and hilarious sense of humor that turned me into an Alli fan from the beginning, she fills these pages with all that is good, real, wise and true. After closing the last page, I realized that I had stepped out of the shadow of fear and onto the path of faith; something I've been praying for, for years. A perfect read.
