I found this workbook to be rather helpful. I'm not a huge fan of mindfulness, so normally I roll my eyes at these titles, but this one wasn't as bad as others. It reminded me strongly of Mind Gym, which I also enjoyed, but from a female perspective, which I quite liked. One part I found especially helpful was the section on coaching mindfully. I'm not a coach, but found the techniques outlined helpful as a player.
This book was pretty good. It opens up athletes minds to the world that were living in and all the struggles we face on a day to day basis. Very solid book for your mind to catch a break.
A few friends/family members in my life are athletes, so I thought this seemed like a book that they might really appreciate. I can easily see this book being helpful for many different types of athletes that are trying to get a better handle on their emotions and focus. However, I don't see all athletes necessarily getting very into this technique, despite its positive elements.
The writing itself was very accessible and engaging. and Saltzman appears very thorough in her work. Overall, I think this book would make a thoughtful gift for any athlete in your life--or a gift to yourself if you are the athlete!
